Orlando Pirates news: Transfer window hits and misses
Orlando Pirates have been the busiest PSL club this offseason, with eleven confirmed signings already boosting squad depth ahead of the new campaign. The likes of Oswin Appollis and Tshepang Moremi headline the arrivals, showcasing the club's clear intent to compete on all fronts. Despite this aggressive recruitment drive, not everything has gone to plan. Two top-tier targets (Fiston Mayele and Fawaaz Basadien) have eluded the Mayfair side, with both players seemingly closing in on moves elsewhere — one locally and the other to a foreign destination. The latter missed Stellenbosch training yesterday amid Mamelodi Sundowns links, suggesting that an exit is all but confirmed. Questions remain over a rising star's future Adding to the uncertainty is the ongoing saga surrounding one of the team's most promising young stars, Relebohile Mofokeng. The talented attacker has attracted interest from abroad, with clubs in Europe, North Africa, and the United States reportedly tracking his progress. His father has made his position crystal clear: he wants his son to leave South African football this season and take the next step abroad. 'He needs to compete in UEFA competitions. If he goes to Saudi now, he won't experience that. Yes, he'd be rich — but happiness is more important,' he stated. While Pirates have not officially commented on the situation, fans are understandably nervous. Losing such a promising player could undo some of the gains made this transfer window. The transfer window is still open, and anything can happen. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Orlando Pirates news: Tshepang Moremi inherits iconic jersey
Orlando Pirates winger Tshepang Moremi has been seen training in the coveted No. 11 jersey, signaling the club's confidence in the young attacker's potential. Moremi, who joined Pirates this winter, takes over the number from Gilberto, whose departure is imminent. The No. 11 shirt holds historical significance at Pirates, worn by legends like Teko Modise and Luvuyo Memela. Moremi's assumption of this jersey is more than symbolic. At just 24 years old, he is poised to become a key player under new head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou. Pirates appear intent on investing in youthful energy and speed down the flanks, and Moremi's confident handling of the shirt number hints at a significant attacking role in the coming season. While the No. 11 jersey carries pressure, it also offers a platform for Moremi to cement his place and make a mark in Bucs history. Fans will watch closely to see if he can follow in the footsteps of his predecessors and become a standout performer for Orlando Pirates this season. Orlando Pirates news: Saleng, Appollis, Moremi, Moloisane
Orlando Pirates have wasted no time in the offseason window, signing ten established stars, including Tshepang Moremi, Sihle Nduli, Sinoxolo Kwayiba, and most recently, Oswin Appollis. The latter is a huge coup for the Buccaneers, who have tried to sign the 23-year-old winger in the previous two transfer markets amid Kaizer Chiefs' interest. Moremi is another sought-after player Orlando Pirates managed to lure. The former AmaZulu attacker turned down offers from AmaKhosi and reigning PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns. Meanwhile, long-term target Thabo Moloisane continues to weigh up his options. 'I think when you have interest in your name, it shows you're doing well and you're playing well, and I'm just happy that my work is finally showing,' he told SABC Sport. 'I've prayed for days when I'm a Bafana Bafana player, and I try by all means to remain as consistent as I can, and at the moment it's just to continue doing what I can, and God is in control, so we'll see.' 'For me, I know the right time, everything that has happened in my career has always come at the right time,' the Orlando Pirates target said. Question marks surround the futures of Monnapule Saleng and Relebohile Mofokeng – but for different reasons. The former hasn't featured since December 7 amid salary demands the club failed to agree on, while the latter is garnering interest from several clubs, including Ah Ahly, Zamalek FC, and FC Cincinnati. Orlando Pirates breaks Chiefs heart by signing Oswin Appollis
Orlando Pirates have confirmed the signing of Polokwane City and Bafana Bafana attacker Oswin Appollis. The 23-year-old winger was heavily linked to rivals Kaizer Chiefs for more than a year and that's why it comes as a surprise when the ex-Rise and Shine star joins the Sea Robbers. The club announced on their X (Twitter) page, just days after announcing eight new signings. Appollis will bring flair, creativity to the Orlando Pirates team this coming season. Last week, the Buccaneers officially confirmed the signings of Yanela Mbuthuma (from Richards Bay), Masindi Nemtajela (Marumo Gallants), Tshepang Moremi (Amazulu), Nkosikhona Ndaba (Richards Bay), Sinoxolo Kwayiba (Chippa United), Tshepo Mashiloane (Baroka), and Sihle Nduli (Stellenbosch). The team is set to undergo their pre-season in Spain, where they will play several friendly matches under the leadership of their new coach, Abdeslam Ouaddou. Appollis is one of the best players in the PSL. He is known for his pace, creativity and eye for goal. He will transform the Buccaneers' attack and improve the team. Out of the nine new signings, Appollis is a standout. Three other players expected to shine are Sipho Mbule, Sinoxolo Kwayiba and Tshepang Moremi. Orlando Pirates now have a complete squad and with Appollis on the left and Mohau Nkota on the right, expect plenty of goals from them next season.
