'Lesson learnt' for restaurant owner after £40,000 illegal worker fine

The owner of a Chinese restaurant and takeaway, which was fined £40,000 for hiring an illegal worker, says the lesson has been learnt. On Saturday, July 5, the Adver reported that Oriental Aroma, based at 50 High Street, Royal Wootton Bassett, was slapped with the hefty fine following a visit from immigration enforcement. The business, which is listed as Bassettoriental Limited on Companies House with the director named as Tuan Trung Huynh, had hired workers illegally and was issued a fine between October 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024. A Chinese restaurant has been fined £40,000 for hiring illegal workers. Oriental Aroma at 50 High Street, Royal Wootton Bassett, was slapped with the hefty fine between October 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024, after immigration enforcement discovered the business had hired workers illegally. According to the restaurant's website, it was established in 2005 and offers Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese and Western cuisines "much loved by both the local community and those further afield."
