Mahathir apologises, says he's feeling better after health scare
THE cyberspace was gripped with concern over Mahathir's health after he had to leave early during the Picnic & Potluck programme at Tasik Putrajaya. Mahathir has since emerged to inform that he felt better, at the same time, apologising for not being able to be with the public during the programme. But even in a recent video on X, he is seen weighted down by his old age, speaking slowly and looking tired. Keadaan TERKINI Tun Dr Mahathir — Dr Mahathir Mohamad (@chedetofficial) July 14, 2025 However, the man still has his supporters as seen in the responses in the comment section. A good many netizens wished him well along his road to recovery. Sadly, there are also the haters who suggested that he retire, alleging that he was causing chaos in the political arena. Perhaps the winning comment went to @helahhidup who advised that Mahathir charge his heart batteries first. 'Your battery is low,' he added. Despite the recent turn of events, Mahathir at 100 years old already defies his age by being able to move about so actively. According to the website, MSD Manual, most of the body's functions reach their peak just before the age of 30, after which they gradually begin to decline. Despite this steady decline, these functions usually remain sufficient, as most organs begin with far more capacity than the body typically requires. However, this gradual reduction in function makes older adults less capable of coping with physical stress, such as intense exercise, sudden changes in temperature, or illness. It also increases their sensitivity to medications, making side effects more likely. Some organs are especially vulnerable under stress, particularly the heart and blood vessels, the kidneys and urinary system, and the brain. To recap, Mahathir arrived at the event grounds at 7:45am, having driven himself, before cycling around Putrajaya Lake. However, he appeared tired and sat down briefly to rest on a bench before making his way to the breakfast table that had been prepared. Mahathir showed signs of fatigue after completing a ride of between eight to nine kilometres. In short, he did pretty well for his age. —July 14, 2025 Main image: @chedetofficial (X)

KUALA LUMPUR – Former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad has apologised for leaving a birthday-themed picnic event early on July 13 . He explained in a TikTok post that he was feeling unwell and needed medical attention. 'I am sorry I could not stay at the picnic yesterday. I was too tired, and the doctor advised me to go to the hospital. So, I went, but only briefly, and then returned home. 'I am feeling better now and have resumed my normal routine. I hope everyone can understand, and I apologise again,' said the 100-year-old in the short video clip on July 14. The Picnic and Potluck event, held at Putrajaya Lake next to the Perdana Leadership Foundation, was organised to celebrate Tun Dr Mahathir's birthday on July 10 and the 99th birthday of his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, on July 12. (Video) Jamal Abdillah Sings 'Happy Birthday' To Tun Mahathir For His 100th Birthday
We've all fantasised about our favourite singers singing, or at least wishing us, happy birthday. Some lucky fans even get to experience this during concerts or meet-and-greet events. While such moments are fairly common between fans and idols, witnessing one legend singing Happy Birthday to another is certainly a rare occasion. In case you didn't know, former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir will be celebrating his 100th birthday tomorrow (Thursday, 10th July), and who better to sing him a happy birthday than Malaysian pop legend Datuk Jamal Abdillah? Check out this interaction: Earlier this week, a media officer named Adam Mohd Muhayeddin shared a video on his TikTok channel showing Datuk Jamal Abdillah singing Happy Birthday to Tun Dr Mahathir, ahead of the former prime minister's upcoming 100th birthday. The moment appears to have taken place inside a store or museum exhibition, based on the interior setting. After finishing the song, the artist kissed Tun Mahathir's hand as a sign of respect. The political figure asked the music icon his age, to which he replied that he was 66. The soon-to-be 100-year-old then praised the singer for his enduring vocal abilities, saying, '66 years old and you've still got the voice.' Datuk Jamal was then heard offering his well wishes to Malaysia's fourth and seventh prime minister ahead of his milestone birthday. The video has since gone viral, garnering over 881,000 views. Fans have flooded the comments section with early birthday wishes for Tun Mahathir, expressing hopes for his continued good health, long life, and prosperity. Turning 100 is a huge milestone, but so far, there's no information on how the former prime minister plans to celebrate it. One thing's for sure: he'll be surrounded by loved ones to celebrate his day together. Watch the viral clip below: Source: TikTok

‘He applied, I approved': Anwar says of RM486,000 Japan trip bill for Dr Mahathir
MELAKA, June 13 — The government bears almost half a million ringgit in cost for former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's trip to Japan to attend the annual Nikkei conference last month, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar said the government allocated approximately RM486,000 for the visit after receiving a formal application from Tun Dr Mahathir. 'There are existing provisions for former prime ministers to apply (for government support for official travel)...and if the sitting prime minister approves, the government will bear the cost, including for Tun Mahathir, who recently requested to attend the Nikkei conference in Japan. He applied, and I approved. I believe the delegation was around seven people. 'I have people asking me why pay for him. He is entitled to apply, but the decision rests with the sitting prime I decided to approve that RM486,000 for him to go to Japan. 'I just don't want anyone to misunderstand...I just don't want to take a negative attitude. Despite his daily criticisms of the government, we still approved his (travel) application,' Anwar told reporters here yesterday. On May 30, Tun Dr Mahathir was reported to have attended and delivered a speech at the annual Nikkei Future of Asia conference, a platform he has regularly attended over the years. On separate development, Anwar said he is giving time to two Cabinet ministers who recently submitted resignation letters, encouraging them to reconsider their decisions. The Prime Minister said he received the letters from the two ministers applying for leave and resignation, but he had only approved the leave for now. '...Let them think about it. Personally, I would prefer that they rejoin the Cabinet,' he said. The ministers in question – Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli and Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad – reportedly submitted their resignations following defeats in recent party elections. The Prime Minister was met after attending an organisational empowerment seminar and a closed-door meeting with PKR leaders here today. Ramanan, secretary-general Senator Fuziah Salleh, Wanita chief Fadhlina Sidek, Youth chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim and Hang Tuah Jaya division chief Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin.
