Djeidi Gassama to Rangers transfer 'issues' reach endgame with Dor Turgeman 'interested' as timeline set
The winger is inching close to an agreement with the Ibrox club with the final hurdle now removed Sheffield Wednesday winger Djeidi Gassama has reportedly been cleared to join Rangers and become Russell Martin 's seventh summer signing Speaking on Friday, the Ibrox boss revealed that he was confident that the Frenchamn would join the Scottish Premiership club from the struggling Yorkshire side. Record Sport understands that on Friday morning Owls owner Dejphon Chansiri was stalling on the £2.5million sale as he looked to lure in rival bidders. The cash-strapped Championship side are desperate to raise funds amid a financial crisis that has left several of their top stars to go without wages for the past two months. But The Sheffield Star now report that "progress" has now been made and that "the issues are being ironed out" with the player now expected to leave Wednesday for Rangers on a four-year deal. While the new boss puts the squad through their paces at their St George's training base, the club are also on the lookout for another striker with both Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane facing uncertain futures. Record Sport first revealed the Maccabi Tel Aviv man Dor Turgeman is also on the shortlist of strikers - but they could face a waiting game to land the 21-year-old. Speaking ahead of the Israeli Super Cup final clash with Hapoel Be'er Sheva, Maccabi boss Zarko Lazetic confirmed that Turgeman has been keen on some of the offers. However, he has vetoed any departures until after their Champions League qualifiers with Pafos later this month - with the second leg taking place on July 30. Asked about Turgeman's status, Lazetic said: "He has trained excellently. He has offers and is interested in them, they also had injuries. "He is happy and is happy to continue here, especially considering the way the previous season ended. "There are a lot of challenges ahead of us - Be'er Sheva, the Champions League qualifiers. I want to get started. Departures can wait until after." That could impact on the sales of Igamane and Dessers - with Lille chasing the Morocco cap and AEK showing interest in the last season's top scorer at Ibrox. £8.6m 'Brazilian magician' sparks Rangers transfer swirls as Dor Turgeman teammate 'targeted' for Ibrox move
Brazilian wing wizard Weslley Patati has been linked with a move to Ibrox Reports in Brazil claim Rangers are interested in a Maccabi Tel Aviv forward – but this time it's not Dor Turgeman in the headlines. It's his teammate, 21-year-old Weslley Patati, who has affectionately been dubbed the 'Brazilian magician' by his fans. The Ibrox side have kicked their recruitment drive into life in recent days with Thelo Aasgaard and Emmanuel Fernandez arriving in a £6m double swoop this week. They've also brought in Max Aarons and are closing in on a deal for Conor Coady. But strengthening further up the pitch is also part of the plan. We've heard Jamie Vardy's name mentioned while striker Turgeman is firmly on the radar. However things appear to have taken a twist as multiple reports in South America claim Turgeman's teammate Patati is also an option being pursued. It's claimed the Ibrox side are on a long list of clubs keen on the 21-year-old. AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands, Al Wahda and Al Ain in the UAE and Girona in Spain are all said to be keen alongside unnamed teams in the Premier League and Championship down south. It's added that AZ and the UAE clubs have submitted offers up to the value of €4m (£3.5m) – but that the Tel Aviv club aren't entertaining that and want €10m (£8.6m) before they'll consider selling him. That's due to the fact his former club Santos hold 40 per cent of his rights and would be due a sizeable chunk of whatever Maccabi sell him for. Complicating the situation further is swirling interest in their other striker Turgeman – they don't want to lose both this window and see Patati, who starred last season with 13 goals and 10 assists, as a key figure in softening the blow should Turgeman depart. A product of the famed Santos academy, Maccabi brought Patati in last summer and he's hit the ground running immediately with a stunning debut season that saw him dubbed the 'Brazilian Magician' by adoring fans. He featured right across the forward line, though primarily from the right wing which is exactly where Rangers need to strengthen to replace Vaclav Cerny. The Israeli striker hit 19 goals last season for Maccabi Tel Aviv, and recently scored for the first time on the international stage. And a new report from sport5 in Israel says Gers are 'not giving up' on signing the 21-year-old. Earlier this month it was reported that the Ibrox side's pursuit of Turgeman had hit a snag due to the conflict between Israel and Iran. But the Israeli outlet now says that Gers are willing to stump up £5m for the forward, who has 'expressed a desire' to come to Glasgow. That's if one of their two strikers leaves the club, with both Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane linked with moves away. News out of France yesterday claimed that Igamane had been chosen as Jonathan David's successor at Ligue 1 side Lille. But sport5 says that, whilst Igamane is in 'advanced' talks with the club, no agreement has been struck between Lille and Rangers. And they also claim that Gers will only open negotiations over Turgeman's transfer if the Igamane deal goes through. Dessers had been expected to move to AEK Athens, with the Greek club pushing hard for his signature and personal terms understood to be finalised. Rangers transfer special including Coady latest, why Turgeman move could be off & why Shankland's a no-brainer But a more recent report says that the Nigerian's former club Feyenoord are also in for the 30-year-old. Greek outlets claimed that the Eredivisie outfit were trying to 'drive a wedge' between Dessers and AEK. Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
