Bharat Forge shares went up by 2 per cent on Wednesday after the company signed a partnership deal with French aerospace firm Turgis Gaillard. Together, they plan to offer a powerful new drone called AAROK to the Indian armed forces. In a statement, Bharat Forge said, 'AAROK is a strong and smart drone made for modern warfare. It can work in tough conditions and help our forces by giving them an edge on the battlefield.' Following the news, the company's stock rose to Rs. 1325.05 on the BSE, up from its last close of Rs. 1299.80. Bharat Forge now has a market value of around Rs. 61,886 crore. Around 37,000 shares were traded, adding up to a turnover of Rs. 4.86 crore. The stock has seen ups and downs, its lowest point in the past year was Rs. 909.10 on April 7, 2025, while its highest was Rs. 1826.20 on June 21, 2024. Right now, the share is not in an overbought or oversold zone, as its Relative Strength Index (RSI) is at 59.6. Bharat Forge's stock is doing better than its 20-day, 50-day, 100-day, 150-day, and 200-day averages but is slightly below its 5-day and 10-day averages. Over the past year, the stock has dropped about 27.5 per cent, but over the last two years, it has grown by 55 per cent. What is AAROK? Bharat Forge has announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with France-based Turgis Gaillard to co-develop and manufacture the AAROK Unmanned Aerial Vehicle ( UAV ) in India AAROK, designed by Turgis & Gailard , is classified as a medium altitude long endurance (MALE) UAV. These drones are capable of ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance , and Reconnaissance ), strike, and multi-mission roles while maintaining a low logistical footprint and high operational versatility. It can carry a payload of over 1.5 tonnes of weapons which can be fired from a safe the MoU signed, the pune-headquartered Bharat Forge will be manufacturing and integrating AAROK in India. Bharat Forge share price rose 1.9 per cent in trade on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, logging an intraday high at ₹1,325.05 per share on BSE. At 10 AM, Bharat Forge shares were trading 0.82 per cent higher at ₹1,310.4 per share on the BSE. In comparison, the BSE Sensex was up 0.16 per cent at 81,715.98. The company's market capitalisation stood at ₹62,648.73 crore. Its 52-week high was at ₹1,826.2 per share and 52-week low was at ₹919.1 per share. Why are Bharat Forge shares buzzing in trade? Bharat Forge manufactures an extensive array of critical and safety components for several sectors, including automobiles (across commercial & passenger vehicles), oil & gas, aerospace, locomotives, marine, energy (across renewable and non-renewable sources), construction, mining, and general engineering. The forging company reported a 19.52% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 282 crore in Q4 FY25, despite a 7.48% drop in revenue from operations to Rs 3,852.60 crore. Bharat Forge and France-based Turgis Gaillard have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly offer the AAROK Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to the Indian Ministry of Defence, the Indian company announced on Tuesday. AAROK is classified as a Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAV. These drones are designed to operate at altitudes between 10,000 and 30,000 feet, with flight endurance ranging from 24 to 48 hours. Domestic production to ensure defence autonomy Bharat Forge, headquartered in Pune, will establish a domestic production line for the AAROK platform. The company stated, 'These production capabilities will help meet the significant needs of the Indian armed forces with local production and ensure complete sovereignty on maintenance and overhaul operations.' Bharat Forge manufactures components and systems across a wide array of sectors including defence, aerospace, automotive, power, oil and gas, construction, mining, rail, and marine. Operational capabilities and tactical role In its filing, Bharat Forge highlighted that the AAROK UAV is capable of conducting extended surveillance missions at high altitudes. 'Flying at high altitude and for long periods, it performs long range surveillance missions. Its electromagnetic sensors and radar enable it to monitor the enemy while remaining stand off from the threats,' the company said. The UAV is integrated with command and control systems and other military platforms, enabling real-time transmission of tactical information. The firm added, 'With a payload of over 1.5 tonnes of weapons fired from a safe distance, AAROK also makes a decisive contribution to supporting multi-domain operations by striking far behind enemy lines, disrupting enemy defences and neutralising their surface-to-air defence systems.' Role in maritime and joint operations Thanks to its endurance of over 24 hours, AAROK can also contribute significantly to maritime domain awareness, including detecting unauthorised activity and monitoring territorial waters. Indian UAV landscape India's current MALE UAV fleet includes Israeli-built Heron drones. The Indian armed forces have also placed orders for the MQ-9B UAVs from General Atomics and are continuing development of the indigenous TAPAS UAV.
