'I visit Turkey every year - new curfew rules will be the end'
A Brit holidaymaker said new curfew rules in Turkey - involving early bar closures and no late music - will "ruin" the region as more than 25 venues have been forced to close. Tourist Rebecca Kitchener, 38, goes to Marmaris every year - but reckons this year could see "the end" of the popular holiday destination. Previously, Brits have flocked to the area to enjoy the late-night entertainment and vibrant nightlife. But after this year's introduction of new rules - including no late music and venues empty by 12.30am - Rebecca said this could be its downfall. In addition, tabletop dance performances and sparklers are banned. The crackdown is thought to be to reduce harassment and inappropriate behaviour in the area as well as show greater respect to residents. But Rebecca - who posts on TikTok as @rebeccaeliza86 - visited Armutalan earlier this month for a fortnight-long holiday with her children and some friends, as the restrictions kicked in, and reckons "it's had it". Rebecca, a medical secretary from the Valleys, said: "I think it's really sad, I love all of that. When I went in June, we still had a good two weeks but the rules did put a dampener on it. "The sparklers, the bar dancing - that's Marmaris. You couldn't be out in a bar much later than 12am in the UK, but you expect different when you're on holiday. "One minute you're having an amazing time, then 12am hits and it's boom, music off, lights out, your night is over." There is now just one street in Marmaris - Bar Street - which can remain open until 4am, while most other venues have to be empty by 12.30am, which is enforced by the authorities. However Rebecca's favourite region has always been Armutalan - which has been hit heavily by the restrictions. According to Turkish news outlet Marmaris TV, 25 businesses have been closed - temporarily or permanently - across Marmaris for not complying with rules. The report, translated, reads: "Sanctions continue to be applied against rule violations starting from three days [enforced closure] and repeatedly leading up to license cancellation." Rebecca said: "When I went, at 12am you hear this siren thing and the police were driving along warning people. They were handing out fines." While Rebecca reckons she'll still return to the area, she said it's "completely different". She added: "It's dead compared to what it was. You used to have to book a seat to get to sit down in a bar - now they're empty. "People go for the atmosphere and the good vibe - everyone sings and dances and makes friends. It's ruined Marmaris for the young people and I think the area will lose a lot of money." According to Turkiye Today, Marmaris District Governor's Office has confirmed that inspections will continue throughout the summer to ensure all establishments operate within legal and ethical guidelines.

New curfew rules in Turkey holiday spot 'will be the end'
Rebecca Kitchener, 38, goes on holiday to Marmaris every year - but reckons this year could see "the end" of the popular British tourist spot after new restrictions A British holidaymaker has claimed that new curfew regulations in Turkey, including early closing times for bars and a ban on late music, will "ruin" the area as over 25 venues have been forced to shut. Frequent visitor Rebecca Kitchener, 38, fears this year could spell "the end" for Marmaris, a favourite destination for Brits. Historically, Brit tourists have been drawn to the region for its bustling late-night scene and exuberant nightlife. However, this year's enforcement of fresh restrictions, such as no music after midnight and premises shutting by 12.30am, could signal disaster, according to Rebecca. Further rules prohibit tabletop dancing and the use of sparklers. It's believed these measures aim to curb harassment and unruly behaviour, whilst also showing more consideration for local residents. But Rebecca, known as @rebeccaeliza86 on TikTok, visited Armutalan earlier this month for a two-week break with her kids and friends and noted the negative impact of the newly imposed limits, saying "it's had it". The medical secretary from the Valleys, South Wales, said: "I think it's really sad, I love all of that. When I went in June, we still had a good two weeks but the rules did put a dampener on it. "The sparklers, the bar dancing - that's Marmaris. You couldn't be out in a bar much later than 12am in the UK, but you expect different when you're on holiday. "One minute you're having an amazing time, then 12am hits and it's boom, music off, lights out, your night is over." Marmaris features just one street, Bar Street, that can stay open until 4am, while other venues must shut by 12.30am, a curfew strictly enforced by local authorities. Rebecca, who holds Armutalan close to her heart, has found that the area has been severely affected by these restrictions. Marmaris TV, a Turkish news outlet, has reported that due to rule infringements, as many as 25 venues across Marmaris have faced temporary or permanent closure. The report, translated, said: "Sanctions continue to be applied against rule violations starting from three days [enforced closure] and repeatedly leading up to license cancellation." Rebecca said: "When I went, at 12am you hear this siren thing and the police were driving along warning people. They were handing out fines." Though she's inclined to visit again, Rebecca observed that it's "completely different" now. She continued: "It's dead compared to what it was. You used to have to book a seat to get to sit down in a bar - now they're empty. "People go for the atmosphere and the good vibe - everyone sings and dances and makes friends. It's ruined Marmaris for the young people and I think the area will lose a lot of money." Turkiye Today confirmed that Marmaris District Governor's Office has said there will be ongoing inspections throughout the summer to guarantee compliance with legal and moral standards by all businesses.

31-Year-Old Influencer Dies Hours After Breast Augmentation, Liposuction and Nose Job: Reports
Brazilian singer and model Ana Bárbara Buhr Buldrini reportedly died following cosmetic surgery in Istanbul, Turkey, on June 15 She travelled with her husband, Elgar Sueia, from Mozambique to Istanbul, where she had liposuction, a nose job, and breast augmentation In a statement shared with Turkiye Today, Tusa Hospital claimed that there was 'an unexpected complication" during recovery, noting that resuscitation was attempted for 90 minutesA Brazilian singer, model, and influencer has reportedly died following three cosmetic surgery procedures in Istanbul, Turkey. According to local outlet O Tempo, 31-year-old Ana Bárbara Buhr Buldrini and her husband, Elgar Sueia, 30, travelled from Mozambique to Istanbul, where she underwent liposuction, breast augmentation, and a nose job on Sunday, June 15. Sueia alleges Buldrini — who had had 797,000 Instagram followers — had an agreement with Tusa Hospital to receive the surgeries in exchange for promoting the hospital on her social media accounts. However, her husband told O Tempo that Buldrini died just hours after the operations, after going into cardiorespiratory arrest. He also alleged to the outlet that his wife had not been adequately prepared for the procedures. 'She wanted to undergo these procedures to improve her aesthetic standards. It was a dream of hers,' he said. 'The surgery was scheduled for this Wednesday [June 18], but, due to scheduling issues, the surgeon decided to bring it forward to Sunday [June 15].' 'We went to the clinic on Sunday just to see the place, but the doctor wanted to perform the procedure without Ana being prepared," he added to the Brazilian newspaper. According to Turkish outlet Turkiye Today, the grieving husband stated that fasting was a requirement for the surgery, yet his wife had eaten. The outlet also reported that surgery took place just two days after the initial consultation. According to G1, Buldrini's surgery was completed by 11 p.m. on June 15. Sueia was told that he could see his wife, and though she was still under anesthetic, she would wake up. "They told me to go to the room, the assistants were acting strangely,' Sueia said, per G1. 'I waited for 1 hour and 15 minutes to receive her. I went down to the ground floor, and a doctor said that her heart was beating slowly, another said that she was already dead.' Sueia took to Instagram to share his heartbreak at Buldrini's death. 'I speak today not only as a husband who lost the love of his life — Ana Bárbara Buhr Buldrini — but also as a human being demanding truth, accountability, and justice,' he captioned a post sharing a news report about the case from Turkish TV station, EKOL TV. 'On June 16th, 2025, Ana tragically lost her life at a private clinic in Pendik, Istanbul. She came to this country with hope and trust.' He added, 'That trust was broken by the system that allowed this to happen unchecked.' In a statement, per Turkiye Today, Tusa Hospital claimed the patient had been made aware of all legal and medical information, adding that there was 'an unexpected complication" during recovery. They also noted that recusitation was attempted for 90 minutes. 'Despite all efforts by our expert anesthesiology team, the patient could not be resuscitated,' the statement concluded. PEOPLE has contacted Tusa Hospital for comment and the Turkish National Police for comment, but did not immediately hear back. Read the original article on People

31-Year-Old Singer-Influencer Dies After Botched Cosmetic Surgery In Turkey
A 31-year-old singer and influencer from Mozambique died on Sunday, hours after a botched cosmetic surgery in Turkey. According to Turkiye Today, Ana Barbara Buhr Buldrini travelled to Istanbul with her husband, renowned Mozambican artist Elgar Sueia, to undergo a breast augmentation, liposuction and a nose job. The hospital had entered a commercial agreement with the influencer, according to which she was receiving the procedures free of charge in return for promoting the clinic. But hours after the procedure at Tusa Hospital in Istanbul, she went into cardiac arrest and tragically died. Mr Sueia, who married the 31-year-old a month ago, said it was his wife's dream to "improve her aesthetic standards," the outlet reported. Following the procedure, he was informed by medical personnel that his wife's heart had slowed down. In an emotional account of what happened next, he stated, "I lost control. I cried, shouted, and punched the walls. I saw her in the morgue. She is looking beautiful, but she was dead." Mr Sueia also alleged that his wife was taken into surgery earlier than scheduled, just days after an initial consultation, and without any urgent medical indication. He also claimed that the 31-year-old was not appropriately prepared for the operation. The surgery, he said, required fasting, but she was operated on after having eaten. According to Turkiye Today, the hospital had previously faced scrutiny over other surgery-related deaths and had recently changed its name. It reportedly issued a written statement outlining its version of events. The hospital stated that the influencer had been referred to as a dental surgery patient. She had been given full legal and medical information and had signed all necessary consent forms. The surgery was conducted under standard operating conditions, but it resulted in an "unexpected complication" during the recovery phase, the hospital said. Further, it explained that the 31-year-old experienced ventricular fibrillation, a serious heart rhythm disturbance, and suffered cardiac arrest. Medical staff attempted to revive her for over 90 minutes but were unsuccessful. "Despite all efforts by our expert anesthesiology team, the patient could not be resuscitated," the hospital said. It added that legal procedures had been initiated to determine the definitive cause of death and that they were cooperating with authorities.

Singer who died having boob and nose job 'partied with surgeon night before'
Ana Bárbara Buhr Buldrini, a 31-year-old singer from Mozambique, died at a hospital in Turkey just hours after receiving a breast augmentation, liposuction and a nose job A heartbroken husband has paid tribute to his "beautiful" wife who died just hours after undergoing plastic surgery. Ana Bárbara Buhr Buldrini travelled to Turkey last Friday, alongside Elgar Miles from their home in Mozambique, to undergo a breast augmentation, liposuction and a nose job. The 31-year-old singer went into cardiac arrest shortly after the procedures at Tusa Hospital in Istanbul and tragically died. Mr Miles, who only married Mrs Buldrini a month ago, said it was his wife's dream to "improve her aesthetic standards". Allegedly receiving the procedures in return for promoting Tusa Hospital, the couple are said to have partied with the physician doing the surgeries in Istanbul on Saturday night, G1 reports, via Mail online. According to Mr Miles, who is an artist himself, his wife was taken into surgery earlier than scheduled, just two days after an initial consultation. "'Due to scheduling issues, the surgeon decided to bring it forward to Sunday," he said. "We went to the clinic on Sunday just to see the place, but the doctor wanted to perform the procedure without Ana being prepared." Despite allegedly being out the night before, Mr Miles claims his wife was persuaded to go ahead. "The doctor assured me that there were no problems and that everything would be fine," he told G1 news outlet. Mrs Buldrini underwent the procedures and was out of the operating room by 11pm Sunday. Her heart allegedly began to slow down, however, and Mr Miles noticed a change in the staff's mood. "They told me to go to the room, the assistants were acting strangely. I waited for 1 hour and 15 minutes to receive her," he said. "I went down to the ground floor and a doctor said that her heart was beating slowly, another said that she was already dead." In a statement obtained by Turkish outlet Turkiye Today, Tusa Hospital stated that the singer had been given full legal and medical information and had signed all necessary consent forms before the procedures. There was "an unexpected complication" during the recovery phase, the hospital said, and Mrs Buldrini experienced ventricular fibrillation, a serious heart rhythm disturbance, and suffered cardiac arrest. Medical staff attempted to revive her for but were unsuccessful. 'Despite all efforts by our expert anesthesiology team, the patient could not be resuscitated,' the statement read. Mr Miles, who married his wife in May in Maputo, Mozambique, six years after meeting in Rome, has been left devastated. "She was the person who cared for me the most, who loved me the most, who believed in me the most," he said. "I just want justice to be done and for this case to serve as an example for all people who want to undergo a type of medical intervention like the one Ana underwent." In a tribute posted on his Instagram page, Mr Miles said: "Our last few days were too beautiful to end this tragically. I will love you forever because I chose you for that. Years and years of building our empire for today I'm here in this room alone with no floor. "I promised to protect and love you like the queen and beautiful person you are inside and out. It doesn't seem fair living this life without you, not really. I want to be wherever you are because none of this makes sense without you." According to the hospital's statement, legal procedures have been initiated to determine cause of death. The hospital say they are fully cooperating with authorities.
