Alabama Christian school teacher busted for sexual relationship with female student at her school: police
A teacher of an Alabama Christian school allegedly had a sexual relationship with a female student – with the academy calling the seedy accusations 'heart rending for all involved.' North River Christian Academy teacher Sarah Huggins Logan, 35, was arrested and charged by the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office Friday shortly after the alleged twisted affair came to light, according to reports. The parents of the alleged juvenile victim alerted police Wednesday when they found out their daughter had been involved in a sexual relationship with a teacher, reported, citing Capt. Jack Kennedy. The sheriff's Violent Crimes Unit kicked off an investigation and nabbed Logan following interviews and obtaining other evidence, authorities reportedly said. Logan, who no longer has a job at the school, was charged with school employee engaging in a sex act — and more charges could be coming, Kennedy told the outlet. The age of the student was not immediately known. It's also unknown when the illicit relationship allegedly took place. North River Christian Academy said in a statement Friday that school officials became aware of the accusations earlier in the week and notified police, cooperating 'completely with the responsible agencies.' 'Our first concern is for the health and welfare of our students, staff, and families. Please respect the privacy of all these parties. Contributing to rumors and suspicions profits no one and contributes only to the hardships experienced by those impacted,' the school said in a Facebook post. 'It should be self-evident to say that this incident is heart rending for all involved. This includes especially the families directly impacted. 'We have prayed for them and encouraged our entire school family to hold them up in their personal prayers. This situation is easy for no one; there are only degrees of difficulty.' The academy began when the Open Door Baptist Church started offering day care to children of working mothers in 1981, expanding to a pre-K through 12th grades institution, according to the school's website. The school's motto is 'Equipping students to glorify God in all they do.' With the investigation into Logan continuing, Kennedy, the sheriff's captain, told police are asking other possible victims to step forward. ‘Organized group' linked to 10 separate shootings in Tuscaloosa County
TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office announced 75 total indictments for multiple suspects in connection with at least 10 shootings since 2023. TCSO says the group of suspects were funding themselves through financial crimes, including credit and bank fraud. Bank tellers were reportedly helping them and the group's potential loss value is over $1 million. The suspects allegedly committed the crimes as an organized group, which falls under the Criminal Enterprise Act. On July 13, 2023 | Tuscaloosa VCU claim members of the criminal enterprise get into a shootout in Alberta with a rival gang member. An innocent man was shot. On January 7, 2024 | VCU alleges members of the criminal enterprise drove to and shot into an occupied residence multiple times over a monetary dispute. January 21, 2024 | The same members of the criminal enterprise allegedly shoot into an occupied apartment with a fully automatic rifle. January 21, 2024 | Members of the criminal enterprise are alleged to shoot into an different occupied apartment in a different complex with the fully automatic rifle and a 9mm pistol. January 22, 2024 | VCU says they shot into an unoccupied residence with the fully automatic rifle. April 12, 2024 | The criminal enterprise allegedly wear masks and get out on a group of individuals. One member allegedly tried to shoot one of them, but the gun did not fire. A shoot out ensues as they leave the complex. Kierston Russell, the twin sister of University of Alabama football quarterback Keelon Russell, has died, the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office confirmed June 5. She was 18 years old. "There has been considerable media attention concerning a death investigation that occurred (in Tuscaloosa) on June 4, 2025," Capt. Jack Kennedy of the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Unit wrote in a statement. Advertisement "After speaking with the family, and in an attempt to quell media inquiries, they have given permission to confirm the death of Kierston Russell... The investigation is ongoing pursuant to the procedures mentioned above, and at this time appears to be non-criminal in nature. Therefore, at this time no other information will be released." Keelon Russell has posted a string of social media messages on his Instagram account, including photos of him and Kierston while responding to messages, such as "stay strong for mom my thoughts and prayers are with y'all' with emojis of hands into heart shapes. Kierston Russell played basketball at Texas' Duncanville High School, which finished its season in the regional finals. Keelon Russell, who enrolled at Alabama in January, was a five-star quarterback at Duncanville High School.
