Tussey Teasers Run Series kicking off with Coyler ‘Sno Big Deal' 10k
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) — Runners looking for a scenic challenge can lace up for the return of the Tussey Teasers, a free six-race series through Rothrock State Forest designed to showcase the hilly, winding terrain of the Tussey Mountainback 50 Mile Relay and Ultramarathon.
The series, organized by Tussey Mountainback race officials, begins Feb. 8 with the Colyer 'Sno Big Deal 10K and runs through June 22. Each event is free to enter, with timed results and water stations provided. Participants can use the races for personal goals or as preparation for the annual Tussey Mountainback event in October.
Runners can also support the Jana Marie Foundation, the 2025 Tussey Mountainback beneficiary, by making donations at any of the events.
'The Tussey Mountainback is a scenic race through Rothrock State Forest during the fall,' Brian Brown, a runner from Lewisburg, said. 'The Tussey Teasers are a fun way to appreciate the course during the other three seasons. The Tussey Teasers offer a nice variety of elements that appeal to both trail runners and road runners.'
Each race highlights a different section of the Tussey Mountainback's 50-mile course, with distances ranging from 6.2 to 13.1 miles. The first race, the Colyer 'Sno Big Deal' 10K, begins at 10 a.m. on Feb. 8, with participants meeting at 9:30 a.m. at the Colyer Lake parking lot on Lake Road.
'I think the Teasers are important,' Terry Reid of Bellefonte, a longtime participant, said. 'Because they offer an opportunity for anyone to venture into running and racing without any financial obstacle.'
