Tornado warnings issued for southwest corner of Manitoba
A tornado warning has been issued for the RM of Two Borders by Climate Change Canada (ECCC).
The warning for the RM, which is along the border of Saskatchewan and North Dakota, was issued Thursday evening and is in effect as of 8:46 p.m.
ECCC is warning people in the area to take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches, which can include a roaring sound, a funnel cloud, swirling debris near the ground or flying debris.
People can take cover by going indoors to a room on the lowest floor away from windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or closet. As a last resort, ECCC is asking people to lie in a low spot and protect their head from flying debris.
According to ECCC, tornado warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce—or are already producing—tornadoes.
Thursday evening, tornado warnings were also issued for the RM of Pipestone and the adjacent RM of Antler in Saskatchewan.
The warnings have come and gone as the storm moves through the region.
