Teddi Mellencamp says she's 'in denial' about cancer journey

Former "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Teddi Mellencamp is opening up about the toll her cancer has taken on her family life. "I think it's really hard being in a place where, I kind of am in denial of where I am physically," Mellencamp told co-host Tamra Judge during an episode of Two Ts In A Pod, the podcast she mans alongside her fellow "Real Housewives" alum. "And when other people are not in denial, it's hard," she added. Mellencamp, 44, shared earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in her brain and lungs. The reality star, who is daughter to rocker John Cougar Mellencamp, revealed in April on social media that after undergoing treatment, several of her tumors had "shrunk or disappeared." James Van Der Beek, Jenna Fischer and the rise of young people getting cancer Despite this development her family still urgers her to take her health seriously, Mellencamp said. "My family wants to have like the hard conversations, and I don't," she told Judge. "They want to talk about things like the future, or medically, exactly how I'm doing, and I don't want to talk about it." "You don't want to talk about that with anybody," Judge chimed in. "I don't want to talk about it with you either, for the record," Mellencamp joked back. Despite her reticence to share now, Mellencamp has been very open throughout her cancer journey with fans, sharing updates on her treatment, the success of immunotherapy and the hard conversations she's needed to have with family along the way. Mellencamp previously told USA TODAY that a positive mindset has been key to her journey. "I'm feeling positive, but I also would say that my mood and my overall energy level shifts by the hour," she said in May. "There's moments of fear and there's moments of whatever, but as long as I'm moving my body and taking action, then I seem to be in a more positive mindset."

Legendary Rock Star, 73, Paid His Daughter $100 to Cut Her Hair

Legendary Rock Star, 73, Paid His Daughter $100 to Cut Her Hair originally appeared on Parade. Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp shared that her father, famed singer John Mellencamp, offered her $100 to cut her hair into a short bob during her childhood. While recording the June 9 episode of her podcast, Two Ts In A Pod, co-hosted by Real Housewives of Orange County star Tamra Judge, Mellencamp discussed trying to grow out her hair after undergoing radiation for her stage 4 melanoma. She explained that she has continued to shave her head because there are certain spots where her hair has not yet grown back in. "I didn't just shave my head. I went bald. I have bald spots all over my head," said Mellencamp. She also said she wasn't looking forward to the process of growing out her hair. She told Judge that she had a short haircut when she was 10, which she did not find flattering. The RHOBH alum explained that she cut her hair after her father paid her $100 to do so. "When I was 10 years old my dad paid me $100 to cut my hair this short. It was not a good look for me," said Mellencamp during the podcast episode. When Mellencamp said she "can't believe [she] did that for $100," Judge quipped, "You'd do anything for a buck." On June 9, Mellencamp took to her Instagram account to share a picture of herself at 10 years old with the short haircut. She also featured a photo of the actor Jonathan Taylor Thomas. "Who wore it better, young me or JTT?" read the caption of the post. "On the latest @ I was talking about chopping my hair off because @johnmellencamp offered me $100. So I obviously had to find the photo for the social clip. And then I realized I was giving 1990s Home Improvement aesthetics 😭." Several fans took to the comments section to share their thoughts about Mellencamp's post. "You're absolutely adorable no matter what. Why though @johnmellencamp ???" asked a commenter. "Look just like your dad! Definitely got the Mellencamp looks! Cute!" added another. "You did! You resemble your dad. ❤️," shared a different person. Teddi Mellencamp 'doing great' amid cancer battle

Teddi Mellencamp is 'doing great' and all of her 'tumours are continuing to shrink' amid her stage four cancer diagnosis. The 43-year-old 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star shared another positive health update after confirming last month via social media that her tumours had either shrunk or disappeared since starting her cancer treatment.' She told PEOPLE: 'I'm actually doing great. I had immunotherapy two days ago and they did another round of scans and they said all my tumours are continuing to shrink, so I'm feeling good and I'm happy. 'This the last round of the intense immunotherapy and then I'll be doing immunotherapy for the next two years, every four weeks, but it's like half the dosage that I'm currently on, so then I think it's just going to get easier and easier on me.' Asked recently whether immunotherapy was controlling or curing her cancer, Teddi replied: "It's both. Speaking on the 'Two Ts In a Pod with Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge', she explained: "It's making sure that it's getting smaller and then let's say that it gets so small that it disappears, it's making sure that it won't form anywhere else in my body. "I was a little bit worried about having to live on immunotherapy because you know how I am when I get super emotional on certain days. But I think that the fact that this is all moving in a smooth path forward is really good news."

Teddi Mellencamp's best friend 'in tears' as she shares major update on cancer treatment

Teddi Mellencamp is opening up about her Stage 4 cancer battle with a positive update on her immunotheraphy treatments. The 43-year-old reality star and daughter of singer John Cougar Mellencamp was diagnosed with Stage 2 melanoma skin cancer in 2022, which was upgraded to Stage 4 earlier this year after suffering from numerous brain tumors. She revealed in late April that the brain tumors have significantly shrunk and she's potentially just a few weeks away from being cancer-free. The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star offered another update on her Two T's In a Pod podcast with Tamra Judge, where she called in from her actual immunotherapy appointment. 'Today I had the scan and where they checked my lungs and they are shrinking and one of them has shrunk so much you can barely even see it,' she said. Her co-host Judge commented on her Instagram post that linked to their podcast, revealing she, 'can't stop crying tears of joy,' adding, 'I love you so much.' Her co-host Judge commented on her Instagram post that linked to their podcast, revealing she, 'can't stop crying tears of joy,' adding, 'I love you so much.' Mellencamp added, 'So it's really really good news. I'm definitely so relieved. I'm also a little bit like, if I sound a little weird, it's because I'm in the middle of them in a therapy treatment right now. But what they said was this is good news. That means my body is responding to everything. But I do need to live on immunotherapy for the next two years.' 'So every four weeks for the next two years, I have to come in and get that done. So and then every three months I get another scan and we check to make sure that everything is where it is,' she added. Teddi admitted she was a bit confused, adding, 'I thought that, like, once the tumors start going away, I'm like, so, does that mean I'm cancer free? And he's like no.' 'He's like you, we will let you know when you're in remission. But at this point, everything's just heading the correct way,' she added. When Tamra asked if the immunotherapy was 'curing' the cancer or 'controlling' it, Mellencamp said, 'both.' 'It's making sure that it's getting smaller and then let's say that it gets so small that it disappears. It's making sure that it won't form anywhere else in my body,' she said. She added, 'The reason they were able to do this treatment on me, because remember radiation didn't work and the tumors were getting bigger, and like I was only able to get certain surgeries is because over at Cedars Clinic. 'There is everything in one spot. So because of that, they can do multiple treatments and figure out what works for you individually. So I think what ends up happening to a lot of people,' Teddi said. Teddi said that was one reason she is, 'so grateful that I live in California,' adding, 'they go to you know, they have to go to all these different doctors at different locations, where mine is kind of like a one stop shop.' The update comes just a month after she said doctors gave her a 50/50 chance to survive her cancer. 'I am going to keep a positive outlook, because that's the way my doctor just spoke to me. He was like, "you did this. You got this."' Toward the end, she added that her doctor had jokingly reassured her, 'You got that Mellencamp blood, so you're good.' Teddi, who previously said she felt she was on her 'deathbed', was pictured smiling in the video, as she told her fans the positive news, admitting that the happy 'crying' was already done.

During her latest appearance on 'Two Ts In a Pod with Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge', she shared: "Last time, they had checked solely my brain, and those tumours are shrinking. And then, today I had the scan, where they checked my lungs and they are shrinking and one of them has shrunk so much you can barely even see it." Despite this, Teddi will have to continue with immunotherapy - which uses a patient's own immune system to fight cancer - for the next two years. She said: "So every four weeks for the next two years, I have to come in and get that done. And then every three months I get another scan and we check to make sure that everything is where it is." Asked whether immunotherapy was controlling or curing her cancer, Teddi replied: "It's both.
