Franklin) PHOENIX (AP) — Kyle Stowers hit a go-ahead solo homer in the sixth inning, Otto Lopez doubled, homered and drove in three runs and the Miami Marlins beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-8 on Friday night. The Marlins, who beat San Francisco 12-5 on Thursday to complete a three-game sweep, have won a season-high five in a row and six of seven. Advertisement Lopez finished with three hits, Stowers also had an RBI double and Heriberto Hernandez hit a solo homer. Lopez, Agustín Ramírez and Stowers hit consecutive two-out doubles off starter Merrill Kelly (7-4) in the fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead. Starter Eury Pérez gave up a leadoff homer to Jake McCarthy and a walk before Ronny Henriquez (4-1) came in with one out in the fifth. Henriquez gave up one run — a homer by Geraldo Perdomo — in 1 1/3 innings. Jake McCarthy led off the third with a walk, stole second and advanced to third by Pérez and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Alek Thomas for Arizona to open the scoring. McCarthy added a leadoff homer in the fifth, Thomas hit a solo shot in the seventh and Pavin Smith capped the scoring with an RBI single in the ninth. Connor Norby hit a two-out single and scored on a triple by Javier Sanoja to make it 6-4. Key stat The Marlins, who went into the game leading the NL in hits (215), batting average (.268), and doubles (44) this month, finished with 13 hits. Miami has had at least 10 hits in a season-high five consecutive games and an MLB-best 12 in June. On long night in D.C., Marlins hand Nats 6th straight loss
June 14 - Rookie Agustin Ramirez had three hits, including two solo home runs, and the Miami Marlins held on to beat the host Washington Nationals 11-9 on Friday in a game delayed more than two hours by rain in the fourth inning. For Miami, Dane Myers had three hits and two RBIs and Eric Wagaman had two hits and drove in three. James Wood had three hits, including a two-run home run, scored three runs and drove in four for Washington, which has lost six straight. CJ Abrams (three runs) and Keibert Ruiz each had three hits. The teams combined for 33 hits. Miami starter Edward Cabrera pitched three innings and left after colliding with Wagaman and Abrams on a play at first in the bottom of the third. Cabrera allowed two runs on two hits and struck out five. Tyler Phillips (1-0) pitched two-thirds of an inning for the win and Calvin Faucher tossed a scoreless ninth for his sixth save. Washington starter Mitchell Parker (4-7) allowed six runs on eight hits in 3 1/3 innings. He walked three and struck out three. The Marlins took a 1-0 lead two batters into the game on Ramirez's first homer of the night. In the second, Miami loaded the bases with one out, but settled for one run on Nick Fortes' sacrifice fly. Ramirez led off a four-run third with another homer to left, his 10th of the season, and Miami's lead was 3-0. Otto Lopez singled and scored on Wagaman's double. After Connor Norby walked, Myers doubled home Wagaman and Norby to make it 6-0. In the bottom half, Abrams reached on an infield single after first baseman Wagaman collided with Cabrera at the bag. Abrams also made contact with Cabrera on the play. Wood followed with his 17th home run and the Nationals were within 6-2. Cabrera finished the inning but did not come out for the fourth. Back-to-back RBI singles in the fifth by Fortes and Xavier Edwards (three hits) made it 8-2. Robert Hassell III and Abrams singled leading off the seventh and Wood doubled them home. Nathaniel Lowe singled home Wood, then Luis Garcia Jr. reached on a fielder's choice and scored on Alex Call's single. Ruiz's single scored Josh Bell to bring Washington within a run at 8-7. Miami answered in the eighth, getting a two-run single from Wagaman to make it 10-7 and added a run on a fielder's choice. (AP) — Jesús Sánchez had a three-run homer and a two-run double, and Heriberto Hernandez singled in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning as the Miami Marlins outlasted Christopher Morel and the Tampa Bay Rays 11-10 on Saturday to snap a five-game losing streak. Morel went 3 for 3 with two home runs, a double and four RBIs for the Rays, who had a four-game win streak halted. Advertisement Morel hit a three-run homer off Ryan Weathers, and Danny Jansen and Taylor Walls followed with back-to-back doubles for a 4-0 lead in the second inning. Weathers was hit in the head after his final warmup pitch to start the game on catcher Nick Fortes' throw to second base and was pulled after three innings for precautionary reasons. Weathers is the son of former major league pitcher David Weathers. Dan Myers and Fortes reached with singles off Taj Bradley in the third and Xavier Edwards drove in Myers with a one-out double. Sánchez followed with his fifth homer to tie it at 4-all. Morel doubled against reliever Ronny Henriquez and Jansen homered for the fifth time three pitches later to put the Rays up 6-4 in the fourth. The Marlins answered with a seven-run fifth as they batted around. Sánchez gave Miami a 7-6 lead with a two-run double. Liam Hicks doubled in two and Myers doubled in Hicks to make it 10-6.
