Three charged in connection with 2022 double homicide in Penticton
Three people have been charged in connection with the murders of Alannah Brown and Douglas Barker, whose remains were discovered near Penticton in September 2022.
The E-Division's Serious Crime Unit arrested Jilane King, Simon Bourbonnais and Tyler Stuart, and the B.C. Prosecution Service approved charges against all three.
King was charged with the first-degree murder of Douglas Barker and being an accessory after the fact to the homicide of both Barker and Brown.
Bourbonnais is charged with being an accessory after the fact for the murder of both Barker and Brown, along with the unlawful confinement of Brown and indignity to human remains of both victims. Additionally, he is charged with manslaughter of Allanah Brown.
Stuart is charged with accessory after the fact to the murders of both Barker and Brown, and indignity to human remains.
'After an almost three-year intensive investigation, the E-Division Serious Crime Unit has made the initial arrests of three suspects in the homicides of both Douglas Barker and Alannah Brown,' says Superintendent Sanjay Wijayakoon of the E-Division Serious Crime Unit. 'We continue to actively investigate and ask anyone with information to come forward.'
The lack of public information relating to the long investigation had devastated the family of Barker, calling it 'heartbreaking,' but they now have charges in the case.
The bodies of Brown and Barker were found in a burned-out car near the Kickininee Provincial Park pull-out on Sept. 15, 2022, after Summerland firefighters were called to a vehicle fire near the Penticton Shooting Range. Brown and Barker, who were in a relationship, were both 30.
