Tyra Banks and her mom break down in tears over model's surprise ice cream shop opening: 'This is dedicated to you'
Supermodel Tyra Banks warmed up her mother's emotions with a sweet treat to a surprise look at her flagship Smize & Dream ice cream shop in Sydney, Australia. The 51-year-old America's Next Top Model creator and fashion icon shared a moving video to Instagram on Tuesday, showing herself surprising mom Carolyn London with a preview of the new location. After London turned around to see the store's facade, she broke down in tears, prompting Banks to cry as well. "Oh my God, it's beautiful," London said, doubling over as Banks held her hand and they walked toward the eatery. London then elaborated on why the moment hit her so deeply. "You worked so hard and I get to see!" she gushed. "It's like a dream. Years and years ago, when I was working so hard as a single mom, I worked more than one job. I worked two jobs. I worked three jobs. I did whatever I could, and the way we would celebrate each week that I got through is I would take her for ice cream in Hollywood." London added, "We would sit in the car and talk about what we wanted out of life and where we wanted to go, and how we wanted to live and her dreams, and try to inspire her to be focused and that ice cream was so special for us." Through tears, Banks told her mother, "It's crazy, mom, because when I look at everything, I can't believe this is real. Yeah, it's my dream, but it's more than what I dreamed," before telling London, "Mama, this is dedicated to you." The video also shows off a handwritten note inside the Smize & Dream store, which is dedicated to London. ANTM winner Nyle DiMarco commented a message of support on the video as well, writing, "I love and miss your mother! Congratulations I'll need to fly to Sydney for your [ice cream]." Banks' mother, who regularly appeared to give pep talks to contestants throughout America's Next Top Model's run, has also worked with her daughter on various professional projects — including a 2018 book, Perfect Is the project, Banks and London discuss their shared affinity for food, and how it served to bond them together when Banks was building her fashion career en route to becoming one of the most influential models in history. Supermodel Tyra Banks shows off her unique style in harem pants as she samples ice cream flavours at her new Sydney store
Tyra Banks has been spotted trying out some of the ice cream flavours on offer at her newly-opened Sydney store SMiZE & DREAM. The former Next Top Model host, who opened the Darling Harbour establishment last week, was all smiles as she popped into the flagship store on Monday. The 51-year-old, who has been living in Australia for nearly two years, stepped out in a bizarre all-black ensemble for the outing. The supermodel kept comfy in an off-the-shoulder black sweater which she paired with loose-fitting harem trousers. On her feet, the 51-year-old wore a pair of matching black sneakers as she made her way around the Sydney waterfront. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Tyra styled her hair straight, with her raven bob cutting just above her shoulders. She paired the look with a bold pink lip and matching rosy cheeks, along with a pair of gold-rimmed, clear-lens glasses. She slung a maroon suede bag over her shoulder as she and her friends sat down for the ice cream date. The business mogul was then seen thoughtfully sampling an ice cream flavour while sitting in a booth. Another showed her laughing hysterically while chatting to a SMiZE & DREAM staff member. Tyra officially unveiled her dream project in Australia – launching her first-ever SMiZE & DREAM ice cream store in the heart of Sydney on Thursday. In an exclusive interview with Daily Mail Australia, the American supermodel-turned-entrepreneur revealed she fell head over heels for the Harbour City after visiting regularly for over a year while producing ice cream for a cruise line account. 'I was coming for about a year and a half and just fell in love with it,' she said. 'And I said, should we make this move? And here we are.' Tyra said Sydney's relaxed charm and community energy helped seal the decision to base her global business Down Under, with one spot standing out above all others. 'I love Darling Harbour because of this park. Tumbalong Park is magical,' she said, adding that even before her shop opened, she and her family would spend their weekends there. 'I have friends that live an hour and a half away and on the weekends they drive here just to go to the water and put their feet in with the kids.' 'There's a playground for older kids, one for younger kids, Darling Square nearby, the harbour – it just felt natural.' Tyra's passion for the brand is personal, down to the flavours themselves. When asked about her favourite scoop, she didn't hesitate. 'My favourite flavour is called Tyra's Favourite – very creative, isn't it?' she laughed. The flavour features salted sweet cream with butter-roasted pecans and a thick, savoury caramel butter swirl. 'It's not your traditional ice cream taste – it has this surprising, rich sensation in the mouth,' she said. Beyond ice cream, the SMiZE & DREAM founder wants the business to stand for something bigger – encouraging others, especially women, to reinvent themselves no matter their age. 'It's never too late,' she said, when asked what advice she had for women starting over. 'But we have to know our stuff. Unfortunately, women – we have to be better. We have to be smarter. We have to know more. 'Just go deep, study hard, walk into that room head held high. You're going to hear no's – but one day you're going to get that yes. And you just have to be ready for it.'

Tyra Banks visits three ice cream parlous in a row at weekends
Tyra Banks has three ice creams in a row at weekends. The 51-year-old model - who lives in Sydney, Australia, with partner Louis Belanger-Martin and her nine-year-old son York, who she has with former partner Erik Asla - and her family make a weekly visit to a trio of dessert parlours on Saturday and she insisted their treats are not "excessive". Discussing her weekend visits to Manly, she told Australia's Daily Telegraph newspaper's Sydney Confidential column: "Once we land, we often head to Queen Chow — the Cantonese waterfront spot that makes you feel like you're floating. The view? Gorgeous. The food? Comfort meets elegance. And let's be real … convenience. Cause it's right there at the ferry station. "Then we go full-on ice cream mode. We don't stop at one — we hit Messina, Anita, and Royal Copenhagen. Yep. Three. In a row. "Call it excessive — we call it Saturday. "We're an ice cream family. And when you love frozen cream, there's no such thing as too much." Tyra - who is setting up stores for her own SMiZE and DREAM ice cream company in Australia - also confessted to having "many late night deliveries" from her favourite gelato parlours. She said: "Yes, we're in the ice cream business — but the ice cream and gelato world is family, not competition. Cause the frozen treat is so popular with so many people, there's enough to go around for everybody. And these Aussie gelato legends? We bow down. "Here's our fave shoutout list: Messina; Rivareno; Mapo; Ice Kirin; Anita. Let's be clear — we don't make gelato. We make ice cream. But these spots? They do their gelato thing with so much craft, flavour, and flair, we've got nothing but love. We order from them, and we cheer them on. "Much respect, mucho admiration — and many late-night deliveries. Proud to be part of the sweet ice cream scene here in Australia. Woop woop!!!" The America's Next Top Model creator is "so excited" about launching her SMiZE and DREAM store and hopes she can inspire others to pursue their dreams. She said: "Right now, we're in HIRING mode. That energy that comes when you're building the dream and are so excited about the team – and knowing what really makes the DREAM a reality. Or else it's just a wish. "I'm laser-focused on casting, hiring, and building super cool, fun jobs for the SMiZE and DREAM launch in Sydney. We're hiring 37 people that scoop and perform – and that is just to start. This makes my heart so happy. Creating jobs. Creating opportunity. That's what it's all about, right? I feel so good that my dream is inspiring others to dream bigger too."

Tyra Banks shares obsession with one food after addressing her new look
Former America's Next Top Model star Tyra Banks has revealed her 'excessive' love for ice-cream as she launches a brand new business following her move to Australia Tyra Banks has revealed she will eat ice cream multiple times per day as she embraces her new passion for the frozen desert. While the 51-year-old is best known for her work as a model, she has pivoted to become an ice cream proprietor in Australia. The American star has shipped her family Down Under and opened a store named SMiZE & DREAM - which has a nod to her modelling tip of smiling with the eyes. The America's Next Top Model icon has also explained that she is something of an ice-cream addict. Having moved to Australia, the businesswoman and mother has been enjoying getting to know her neighbourhood by way of the multitude of ice cream parlours in the area. And while many might be tempted to stop off at one shop to pick up a treat, Tyra has revealed she will attend no less than three. The model went on to explain that she considers no amount of ice cream too little or too excessive. Opening up to Australia's Daily Telegraph, she said: "We go full-on ice cream mode. We don't stop at one - we hit Messina, Anita, and Royal Copenhagen. Yep. Three. In a row. "Call it excessive - we call it Saturday. We're an ice cream family. And when you love frozen cream, there's no such thing as too much." Tyra has opened her SMiZE & DREAM parlour in Sydney's Darling Harbour this month and has been promoting her new business. She also told the Daily Mail Australia how much she is loving her new life Down Under. She said: "I was coming for about a year and a half and just fell in love with it,' she said. 'And I said, should we make this move? And here we are. "I love Darling Harbour because of this park. Tumbalong Park is magical... I have friends that live an hour and a half away and on the weekends they drive here just to go to the water and put their feet in with the kids. "There's a playground for older kids, one for younger kids, Darling Square nearby, the harbour – it just felt natural." She went on to explain she named one of her new ice cream flavours after herself. Describing the salted sweet cream, butter-roasted pecans and savoury caramel butter flavour, she gushed: "My favourite flavour is called Tyra's Favourite – very creative, isn't it? ... It's not your traditional ice cream taste – it has this surprising, rich sensation in the mouth." Last year, Tyra opened up about her modelling past and future as she prepared to return to the catwalk for a Victoria's Secret show. In an empowering message she said: "50-year-old women, insecure women - I just felt like there was more, and I look at the playback and I'm like, boom, boom, boom. "I was stomping because I felt like I was a vessel more so than it's just all about me. It was different." She also discussed her thoughts on the way her body has changed over the years, saying: "Also what was different is my boobies were like 10 times bigger because I was about 40-50 pounds (18-22 kg) heavier on this runway than when I retired. So I was like, 'Don't fall out, don't fall out.'"

Tyra Banks reveals the incredible amount of ice cream she eats in a day - after sharing how much weight she's gained since modelling heyday
Tyra Banks has revealed that she loves frozen desserts so much that she visits three ice cream stores in a single day. The supermodel, who now lives in Australia, said one of her favourite things to do on a Saturday in Sydney is take the ferry across the harbour to Manly and go on an ice cream binge. 'We go full-on ice cream mode. We don't stop at one - we hit Messina, Anita, and Royal Copenhagen. Yep. Three. In a row' she tells the Daily Telegraph of her favourie local frosty treat vendors. 'Call it excessive - we call it Saturday' the 51-year-old continued. 'We're an ice cream family. And when you love frozen cream, there's no such thing as too much.' Tyra is such a big fan of the sweet and cold stuff that she has opened her very own ice cream store. Her SMiZE & DREAM parlour opened last week in the heart of Sydney's Darling Harbour. It comes after Tyra revealed how much weight she has gained since her heyday walking the runway in Victoria's Secret Fashion Shows. Tyra returned to the catwalk for the American underwear brand last year. While appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show last year, the supermodel turned mogul discussed feeling true joy as she returned to her role as a Victoria's Secret Angel for the evening. After Drew said Banks looked like she felt 'good about' herself and was truly 'living in the moment and really present' during her runway walk, Banks said that description perfectly captured what it was like to dust off her wing after so many years. Unlike in past years when the mother-of-one said she 'would walk' for herself, the Life-Size actress said, this time, she 'felt like everybody was inside of' her as she took the stage. '50-year-old women, insecure women - I just felt like there was more, and I look at the playback and I'm like, boom, boom, boom. I was stomping because I felt like I was a vessel more so than it's just all about me. It was different,' Banks raved. The America's Next Top Model creator also reflected on how her body has changed over the years. 'Also what was different is my boobies were like 10 times bigger because I was about 40-50 pounds (18-22 kg) heavier on this runway than when I retired,' she told viewers. 'So I was like, "Don't fall out, don't fall out."' While serving as a VS Angel, Banks walked nine shows, before announcing her retirement from modelling in 2005. Banks walked in her first fashion show for the lingerie brand in 1996. Her final Victoria's Secret runway appearance took place in 2005, before she embarked on a career in television. In 2009, she opened up about no longer believing in diets. 'I have been on diets in the past. They are a bunch of bologna,' she said on The Tyra Show at the time. 'It's not about being skinny. It's about being in the best shape you can be.'
