Kerry keep control to blow away Tyrone in All-Ireland semi-final
Twenty-five minutes after the final whistle, with flocks of seagulls encircling the pitch like flies, a handful of Tyrone players were still lingering on the Croke Park pitch, soaking in the last drops of a sweltering championship afternoon, chatting in small groups, but also half-concussed from the reality of having been blown off the pitch by their opponents.
Kerry were long gone by that stage, getting out of the sun and into the welcome shade of the dressing room as soon as the final whistle sounded. There was a time when a victory over Tyrone would have sparked a far more emotional outburst but the longer time moves on, the less truck Kerry have with that sorrowful history and the more driven they are to rewrite a new narrative in this storied relationship.
