13 US schools top 2025 ranking of best global universities

More than a dozen of the U.S.'s higher education institutions ranked in the top 20 of global universities. The 2025-26 ranking from U.S. News & World Report included 2,250 top universities from more than 100 countries and considered factors like the school's international opportunities, student makeup and research opportunities. (AP Photo/Seth Wenig, File) Three American universities tied for 16th place in the ranking: Cornell University, Princeton University and the University of California, San Francisco. New York-based Cornell — one of the Ivy League schools under the Trump administration's microscope — earned its rank through its diverse student population and programs. On the other hand, Princeton and the University of California's wide variety of centers, programs and research opportunities were mentioned in their ranking. The university has 28 centers for multidisciplinary research, with more than 192 research, teaching and student exchange agreements worldwide. (AP Photo/Ben Margot, File) Stanford University's ranking is reliant on its summer opportunities like the Global Studies Internship Program, which sends students to more than 20 countries on six continents for a wide variety of disciplines. The Maclaurin Buildings on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) campus are seen in Cambridge, Mass., on Dec. 12, 2023. Known for its STEM focus and low acceptance rate, MIT is a thoroughly global school. 'More than 3,430 international students are currently enrolled at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and during academic year 2023-2024 the school hosted 2,247 international scholars from 100 countries,' U.S. News & World Report writes. Harvard offers courses in more than 100 languages, and international students made up 27.2% of the university population in the 2024-2025 academic year.

This hybrid SUV offers over 630 miles of driving range — here's why it's perfect for road trips

Hybrid technology has completely changed the game in terms of fuel economy and driving range. Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) use electric motors and battery packs in tandem with a gas engine to aide acceleration and store power via regenerative braking. Hybrid vehicles are more efficient than typical internal combustion engine vehicles because electric motors and battery packs provide added driving range without burning fuel. So, the advent of HEV technology has expanded the range potential of modern automobiles. As a result, there are several cars, trucks, and SUVs on the market capable of traveling for over 600 miles on a single tank of gas. The Kia Sorento Hybrid has one of the highest driving ranges of all current production SUVs due to its large tank size and incredible fuel efficiency. The midsize three-row hybrid SUV seats six and achieves more gas mileage than many smaller SUVs and cars. The South Korean automaker's Sorento Hybrid earns an estimated 36 miles per gallon combined. It has a 17.7-gallon gas tank. Multiplying 36 miles per gallon by its 17.7-gallon gas tank gives you an estimated combined city/highway driving range of 637 miles. To put that number into perspective, the most popular gas SUV in America (the Toyota RAV4 according to Kelley Blue Book) has a 435-mile driving range. The Sorento Hybrid's driving range is particularly extraordinary because of its large size. Midsize SUVs tend to achieve some of the worst fuel economy numbers behind massive full-size models because of their heft. So, automakers are completely changing the narrative, making these passenger and cargo-friendly models both spacious and efficient. The Sorento Hybrid has 12.6 cubic feet of cargo space and 45 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear row of seats folded. It has plenty of space for travel supplies. The Kia Sorento Hybrid's cabin is roomy, offering ample space according to a vehicle review by U.S. News & World Report. It also comes with plenty of great standard safety and driver-assistance features that make it safer and more convenient for road trips. Blind-spot collision warning Forward-collision avoidance assist with pedestrian, cycling, and junction turning detection Park distance warning-rear Navigation-based smart cruise control with stop and go/curve Driver attention warning with leading vehicle departure alert Kia's midsize hybrid SUV comes in two trims: the EX and SX Prestige. The SX Prestige final trim is slightly less efficient (34 miles per gallon combined), but comes with more standard features including all-wheel drive. The 2025 Kia Sorento Hybrid starts at $38,690 for the EX base model. SX Prestige models start at $46,890. The final configuration includes a panoramic sunroof, blind-spot view and surround-view monitor, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument display. The national average gas price at the time of writing is $3.22 a gallon according to Since the Sorento Hybrid has a 17.7-gallon tank, it currently costs around $56.99 ($3.22 a gallon x 17.7 gallons) to refuel the midsize SUV. Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid (619 miles) Lexus RX 350h (614 miles) Toyota Highlander Hybrid (598 miles) Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid (584 miles) Toyota Crown Signia (551 miles) There are several hybrid SUVs on the market with exceptional driving ranges thanks to fuel efficiency and large gas tanks. These models are great for road trips in the sense that they can travel greater distances without refueling compared to less efficient vehicles. City of Hope Leads AI-Powered Health Care Innovations and Launches Generative AI Tool to Save Lives and Enable Nationwide Best-in-Class Cancer Care

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--City of Hope ®, one of the largest and most advanced cancer research and treatment organizations in the United States with its National Medical Center named a Top 5 'Best Hospital' in the nation for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report, is using generative artificial intelligence to create operational efficiency, enable AI-driven patient personalization, improve access to clinical trials and empower breakthrough research. City of Hope is using generative artificial intelligence to create operational efficiency, enable AI-driven patient personalization, improve access to clinical trials and empower breakthrough research. Share 'With the rise of AI, health care systems like City of Hope are seizing the opportunity to transform physician workloads and fuel more focused, personalized patient care,' said Simon Nazarian, City of Hope chief digital and technology officer and system executive vice president. Among City of Hope's most exciting health care innovations is a novel generative AI platform that leverages multiple commercial and open-source AI models. HopeLLM — powered by City of Hope's proprietary technology and data — removes the administrative burden of new patient onboarding, matches patients to clinical trials, enables generative AI responses personalized to individual patient records and extracts real-world data for research. 'By summarizing massive information in seconds, HopeLLM removes a barrier between the patient and the doctor. Instead of spending time finding information in the history of previous tests and treatments, doctors can spend time and effort in getting patients and caregivers to understand treatment options. Instead of the frustration of trying to find information, doctors are able to create more joy as they deliver patient care,' said Vijay Trisal, M.D., City of Hope system chief clinical officer and the Dr. Norman & Melinda Payson Professor in Medicine. HopeLLM, is a revolutionary time saver that may be used by clinicians across City of Hope's national clinical network, enabling patients to receive world-class cancer care regardless of which City of Hope location they visit. In 2024 alone, City of Hope onboarded more than 150,000 patients. Doctors often see new patients with extensive medical histories spanning 10 to 20 years of test results, notes and treatment reports. Doctors need to spend significant time — often during nonworking hours — to review hundreds of pages, leading to less time interacting directly with patients. Additionally, HopeLLM instantly points out a patient's clinical trial eligibility and automatically extracts key data points into research-ready formats, converting hours of manual chart review into seconds of AI-driven insight. 'We're not just building point solutions; we have built the engine for a learning health system where every patient interaction accelerates the next breakthrough,' says Nasim Eftekhari, M.S., City of Hope chief AI and analytics officer and system vice president. Since 2017, City of Hope has been developing, deploying and optimizing life-saving AI-driven predictive models that are actively integrated into clinical workflows. These AI models help identify critical risks — such as sepsis in vulnerable populations and complications in surgical procedures — enabling timely clinical interventions that enhance patient outcomes and improve patient quality of life. Importantly, these predictive models provide risk scores along with contextual explanations that clarify the factors driving the prediction, empowering responsible AI-driven clinical decision-making support. City of Hope's pioneering AI initiatives extend to oncology drug discovery, early cancer detection and prevention, advanced diagnostics and deeper insights into cancer evolution and disease progression. As an organization that both develops and uses AI tools, City of Hope is committed to harnessing artificial intelligence to enhance patient care, advance research and improve health care efficiency. HopeLLM exemplifies City of Hope's AI work, where people with cancer benefit directly. For example, patients and doctors typically share the burden of providing and verifying medical history. However, HopeLLM shifts this responsibility away from patients, helping them to receive more personalized care and engage in focused, future-looking discussions with their doctors. HopeLLM allows patients to concentrate on their primary responsibility: recovery. To receive a second opinion at City of Hope Los Angeles, call 888-720-1621 or visit this webpage.
