Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda claims fans ‘lashed out' at new singer Emily Armstrong because she's a woman

Linkin Park isn't 'Numb' to the backlash against new singer Emily Armstrong. In a new interview with The Guardian, Mike Shinoda explained why he thinks part of the the band's fanbase was outraged over Armstrong, 39, joining the group seven years after lead singer Chester Bennington's death. 'There were people who lashed out at Emily, and it was really because she wasn't a guy,' Shinoda, 48, stated. 10 Emily Armstrong and Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park perform at the opening ceremony of the UEFA Champions League Final 2025. 'They were just so uncomfortable with what it was that they chose a ton of things to complain about,' Shinoda explained. 'They're pointing in 10 different directions saying: 'This is why I'm mad, this is why the band sucks.'' 10 Linkin Park in the press room at the 48th Grammy Awards in 2006. Step into Lionel Messi's mind at this free immersive exhibit in NYC

Step into the memories of iconic football player Lionel Messi—literally. The famous digital artist Refik Anadol has teamed up with Messi and the non-profit UNICEF to create his latest work, " Living Memory: Messi-A Goal in Life," a fully immersive experience showcasing the moment of Messi's (and football's) most iconic moment—his header in the 2009 UEFA Champions League Final. The exhibit is presented through a Christie's sale that will be open for bidding July 8 to 22, with the free immersive experience at Christie's New York in Rockefeller Center July 12 to 22. Tickets are available on-site at Christie's each day, while supplies last. This unprecedented artwork from Anadol isn't simply a visual experience, but a multi-sensory memory for the audience and Messi. To create the installation, Anadol used data-driven artificial intelligence and open-source motion-tracking framework to map 17 points of Messi's body to reconstruct his body and expressions. Layered with biometric voice data, breathing rhythms and heartbeats, the tone and tempo is set for connecting with Messi in revisiting the goal. The experience is an eight-minute long, captivating "memory temple" according to Anadol. "This isn't about nostalgia," Anadol said in a press release, as the reason for creating this art is to relive the depth of that split-second moment with Messi and to feel what the crowd and the world felt. Anadol has figured out how to combine art, technology and human emotions using this AI Data Sculpture. As for the auction, proceeds will benefit nonprofits such as Miami CF Foundation's global partnership UNICEF, which supports quality education programs in countries across Latin America and the Caribbean. The opening bid is currently set at $1.5 million. The highest bidder for the artwork will also win a meet-and-greet with Messi himself. In the past, Anadol's art has exceeded expectations in the contemporary art auction world, specifically during 2022 when $1.4 million was raised for "Living Architecture: Casa Batlló." "It's an honor to join forces with the Inter Miami Foundation for a good cause—I feel privileged to be able to do so," Messi said in a press release. "This project means a lot to me, not only because it recalls a special moment in my career, but also because, thanks to such a unique artist like Refik, it can help improve the lives of others who truly need it."

Paramount+ With Showtime Streaming Service Gets Renamed ‘Paramount+ Premium'

Paramount Global has quietly erased Showtime from the name of its top-tier streaming package. On June 23, Paramount informed subscribers that the name of its ad-free plan is no longer Paramount+ With Showtime — instead, it's now called Paramount+ Premium. The pricing of the package remains the same: It still costs $12.99 per month or $119.99 per year. More from Variety Gary Levine to Retire From Showtime After 40 Years in Programming 'Dexter: Resurrection' Trailer: Dexter Morgan Is Back in Bloody Revival How to Watch the 2025 UEFA Champions League Final Live Online The two packages now offered by the company are Paramount+ Premium, which does not have ads except in the bundled live local CBS feeds; and Paramount+ Essential with ads ($7.99 per month). The company rebranded the ad-free package as Paramount+ With Showtime in the summer of 2023, and said it would phase out the stand-alone Showtime streamer (which shut down in April 2024). Now, after two years, the company is dropping the Showtime name. 'Since we recently introduced a sampling of Showtime programming to the Essential plan, the Premium plan name reflects the broad and diverse offerings across both plan tiers,' the company said in a notice on its customer-support site about the name change. 'Showtime programming remains an important part of Paramount+, and is still prominently represented on the service!' The name change comes as Warner Bros. Discovery has gone back in the other direction: It's going to reattach the HBO name to its flagship Max streamer, which will this summer become HBO Max again. Meanwhile, in what may potentially cause some confusion, the name of the Paramount+ With Showtime linear TV network on cable, satellite, or internet TV streaming services (like Hulu with Live TV) will not be changing, according to Paramount. Paramount said that depending on a customer's device, they 'may not see the plan name change immediately. But rest assured, if you sign up for the Premium plan while it's still Paramount+ With Showtime, your plan benefits will not be impacted!'
