After $50,000 birthday bonus at UFC Nashville, Fatima Kline sets sights on MSG
Fatima Kline met the media Saturday after her third-round TKO win over Melissa Martinez at UFC on ESPN 70. Kline (8-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) was the biggest favorite on the card against Martinez (8-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) and kept after the finish until she ended things midway through the final round at UFC on ESPN 70 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn., with a massive head kick. Advertisement To top things off, the finish came on the strawweight's 25th birthday – and came with a pretty solid present, too, in the form of her first $50,000 performance bonus. Kline said she wasn't content just riding out a decision win. "I think I heard two and a half minutes (left in the fight) – I knew that the round was coming to a close," Kline told after the win. "I knew I was better than that, to let it go to a decision. I don't want to be a decisioner. I want to be a finisher. "I felt like she was hesitating a lot and she was worried about my jab. … I knew if I faked the jab enough and set up that kick, that it was going to land – and that's exactly what happened." Kline, a 25-year-old former CFFC strawweight champion, said she wants to continue to take on stiff tests to climb into the rankings. Her win over Martinez had her as upwards of a 10-1 betting favorite heading into the fight. Advertisement After a loss to Jasmine Jasudavicius in her promotional debut a year ago to the weekend of her win over Martinez, she knocked out Victoria Dudakova earlier this year. With two wins and two finishes in a row, she's shooting her shot. "I want a top 15 (opponent). That's two dominant finishes in a row, so anybody in the top 15, I'll take," Kline said. "(Madison Square Garden in New York) is in November. That's my home state. I'm a New York native. I've always been there and I'll always stay. So I want MSG, I want top 15, and I want $50 grand for my birthday." Check out Kline's post-fight interview in the video below. Derrick Lewis reveals chat with President Trump after knocking out Teixeira in 35 seconds at UFC Nashville
UFC Nashville delivered fireworks Saturday night, headlined by a blistering 35-second knockout from Derrick Lewis . The 40-year-old heavyweight stunned the crowd with a powerful left hook that ended the undefeated streak of rising Brazilian prospect Tallison Teixeira in the main event. Lewis (29-12 MMA , 20-10 UFC) earned his second straight stoppage victory, handing the 25-year-old Teixeira (8-1 MMA) his first professional loss. Moments after the emphatic win, Lewis revealed that he received a phone call from US President Donald Trump , who congratulated him. "I've been telling Dana [White] a couple of weeks now, I need to talk to [Donald Trump] about something," Lewis said. "It's classified [what we spoke about]." "It's almost something about terrorists and stuff like that... We don't like the FBI right now, me and Trump." Live Events — ufc (@ufc) "You know, they're trying to get that list out of us. So, I had to call, I had to tell the president, 'Hey, you know, make sure they don't have my name on that list.'" Reflecting on his many memorable post-fight moments inside the Octagon, Lewis ranked his phone call with Trump as the most iconic of them all. "[I'd rank this post-fight celebration] probably number one, just because the president called me." "You know, we start talking about business, and I told him, 'Wait, wait until I get to the White House so we can really talk.' Yeah, it was pretty cool to have the president talk to me." — ufc (@ufc) Lewis didn't hold back in his post-fight comments, dismissing Teixeira's prior competition by saying, "I just knew he had been fighting tomato cans." Lewis has long established himself as a fan favorite and a standout personality on the UFC roster. Known for his knockout power and unfiltered charm, Lewis continues to capture attention both in and out of the Octagon. — ufc (@ufc) While the exact details of his call with President Trump remain unknown, the moment only added to his growing list of unforgettable UFC highlights. Given his charisma and star power, Lewis would undoubtedly be a crowd-pleasing presence at the highly anticipated UFC event scheduled to take place at the White House next year.

UFC on ESPN 70 result: Derrick Lewis plays possum, TKOs Tallison Teixeira in 35 seconds
DERRICK LEWIS FAULT 🤯@TheBeast_UFC | #UFCNashville Derrick Lewis keeps racking up knockouts. Lewis (29-12 MMA, 20-10 UFC), the UFC's knockout leader, ended the unbeaten record of Tallison Teixeira quickly. The heavyweight bout served as the main event of UFC on ESPN 70 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. In just 35 seconds, Lewis recorded a TKO over Teixeira (8-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC), after some admitted gamesmanship. Lewis came out offering a jumping switch kick. Teixeira fired in a punch that appeared to hurt Lewis' right eye. After covering up his eye, Lewis kept swinging and dropped Teixeira with a powerful left hand right on the jaw. "The Black Beast" swarmed with follow-up punches until referee Jason Herzog stopped the fight. In typical Lewis fashion, he removed his fight trunks and waved them over his head. He went over to Texeira's corner and "marked his territory" before continuing with the celebration. Then he launched his protective cup into the crowd, and then mooned them, giving Nashville the whole "Black Beast" experience. HERE HE GOES 😅@TheBeast_UFC | #UFCNashville While the official decision was being announced, Lewis had UFC CEO Dana White's cell phone in his hand, allegedly speaking with U.S. president Donald Trump. "U.S.A in this hoe, f*ck what they talkin' about," Lewis told Daniel Cormier during his post-fight interview. Lewis then explained how Teixeira's corner was "talking sh*t" all week, which is why he went over to the corner after the fight. On the UFC Post-fight Show, Lewis admitted he was playing possum by gesturing toward his right eye during the fight in order to draw Teixeira in closer. The UFC's knockout leader has a few sly tricks up his sleeve, along with vicious fight-ending power. With the result, Lewis wins back-to-back fights for the first time since beating Aleksei Oleinik in August 2020 and Curtis Blaydes in February 2021. "The Black Beast" entered his third straight main event following a third-round finish of Rodrigo Nascimento last May, and extended his knockout total to 16, the most in UFC history. On the other side, Teixeira, 25, walks away with his first career loss. In every previous fight, the Brazilian finished every opponent in the first round. However, facing a former title challenger in his second UFC appearance was a bit too much to handle. Up-to-the-minute UFC on ESPN 70 results
