KNRUHS issues notification for counselling under convener quota
Hyderabad: Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) on Tuesday released a notification for counselling for MBBS and BDS seats under the convener quota. Students wishing to participate in the Convener Quota Counselling have been advised to register their details on the university website ( from 8 am on 16 July to 6 pm on 25 July. It has been specified that certificates related to caste and locality must be uploaded at the time of registration. Following the verification of certificates, a merit list will be released featuring eligible state students, and the web options process will then commence. As per norms, 85 per cent of seats in government medical colleges and 50 per cent of seats in private medical colleges are filled under the convener quota. The University on Tuesday issued a notification inviting online applications from candidates who have qualified by securing the cut-off scores or above in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) UG-2025 for admission into undergraduate medical and dental courses for the academic year 2025-26. The category-wise qualifying criteria are as follows: for the General Category, including EWS, a 50th Percentile with a score of 144; for SC/ST/BC and PWD candidates from SC/ST/BC Categories, a 40th Percentile with a score of 113; and for persons with disability (OC), a 45th Percentile with a score of 127. Six students from Andhra Pradesh top in NEET UG-2025
VIJAYAWADA: Six students from Andhra Pradesh have figured in the top 100 list of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) UG-2025. Among them, Darbha Karthik Ram Kireeti has emerged as the State topper with an All India Rank (AIR) of 19, and a percentile score of 99.9991400. The National Testing Agency conducted NEET UG-2025 at 5,468 centres located in 552 Cities across the country, and 14 cities outside India on May 4. More than 22 lakh candidates appeared for the entrance test. Mahesh Kumar from Rajasthan secured AIR 1, while Avika Aggarwal got AIR 5 and emerged as the female topper. According to official data of NTA, AP student Podavati Mohith Sriram secured AIR 56 with a percentile of 99.9974653, Desina Surya Charan from Visakhapatnam got AIR 59 with 99.9972390. Podilapu Avinash bagged AIR 64 scoring 99.9968316. Yerra Sameer Kumar of Visakhapatnam stood 70th with 99.9968316, while Tummuri Siva Manideep ranked 92nd with 99.9954737. No student from Andhra Pradesh secured top rank in any category, except Karumanchi Vikrant, who got ninth rank in SC category with 99.9878243 percentile. Kireeti hails from Rajamahendravaram. He completed his schooling from LKG to Class 8 in Trips International School, and from Class 8 to Intermediate at Tirumala Junior College.

4 held for taking money from NEET aspirants
Bhubaneswar: Police arrested four members of an interstate gang here for allegedly taking money from NEET aspirants for admission to medical college. The four persons, including two from Odisha, were arrested by Bhubaneswar Special Crime Unit on Saturday, Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh said. The Police Commissioner said the gang used to take money from medical aspirants by promising them admission to medical colleges. The gang had plans to engage dummy candidates to write the examination, Singh said. The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) UG-2025 was held on Sunday from 2 pm to 5 pm. The four arrested persons were identified as Priyadarshi Kumar from Jharkhand, Arvind Kumar from Bihar and Sunil Samantray and Rudra Narayan Behera from Odisha, police said. 'The modus operandi involved local scouts who procured NEET aspirant details, including Aadhaar cards, facilitating their registration. Once the admit cards are obtained, they are transferred to operatives in Bihar. It is suspected that proxy candidates take the NEET exam by manipulating the admit card details,' a statement issued by police said. The gang was charging Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh per candidate, it said.

Prohibitory orders to be imposed in Jharkhand's Ranchi on Sunday for NEET exam
Prohibitory orders will be imposed in Jharkhand's capital Ranchi, in view of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) UG-2025 on Sunday, an official said. The examination is scheduled to be held in 22 centres in the city from 2 pm to 5 pm during the day, he said. The prohibitory orders under the BNS section 163 will be in effect from 11 am to 8 pm on May 4 within a 200-metre radius of all NEET UG-2025 examination centres in the city, according to a statement issued by the Ranchi administration. The orders restrict the assembly of five or more persons, using any sound application device, organising any kind of meeting or public gathering, carrying any type of weapons such as guns, rifles, revolvers, explosives, sticks, bows and arrows in the restricted area, it said. In a bid to conduct a free and fair examination, the magistrate, senior police officials and security forces have been deployed in adequate numbers in all the centres, the official added.
