UNLV football moves Dan Mullen's debut up to Week 0 to accommodate Canelo Alvarez-Terence Crawford fight
UNLV is moving Dan Mullen's coaching debut for the Rebels to make way for the super-middleweight fight between Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez at Allegiant Stadium. The Rebels were originally scheduled to face the Idaho State Bengals on September 13, but have moved the game to become their season opener on August 23. On Friday, UNLV announced that the NCAA approved its waiver to start their season in Week 0 to make the stadium available for the highly anticipated fight. In a statement, UNLV athletic director Erick Harper noted that the program explored several options while dealing with the scheduling conflict. Advertisement "The World Championship Boxing Match is important to Las Vegas, and the impact it will have on tourism is unmatched," Harper said. "Las Vegas is the Sports and Entertainment Capital, and we are a part of this amazing epicenter. As community members and an institution that works closely with many of the city's great constituents, we felt it was important to request a waiver to show our commitment to the community. Harper added that the program looked at several alternatives to moving the game to Week 0, but that solution was "the most logical." After getting fired from Florida in 2021, Mullen took a hiatus from coaching and volunteered at Lake Oconee Academy in 2022. He arrives in Las Vegas after former head coach Barry Odom left to take the head coaching job at Purdue. In two seasons in charge of the team, Odom led the Rebels to 9-5 and 10-3 records. Mullen previously coached at Mississippi State before Florida. He led the Bulldogs to a 69-46 record from 2009-2017 and the Gators to a 34-15 record from 2018-2021.

Stash These 3 Rookie WRs in Dynasty Fantasy Football
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - OCTOBER 25: Ricky White III #11 of the UNLV Rebels line up for a play in the ... More second quarter of a game against the Boise State Broncos at Allegiant Stadium on October 25, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by) After breaking down my top three overall stashes in a recent article, we'll just be looking at the three best names at wide receiver. If you play in a deep league and are chasing bench depth, this is the perfect article for you. Two players that would qualify but I won't talk about here are Xavier Restrepo and Chimere Dike. If you want to see their breakdown, click on the recent article linked above. The rules for this list are simple. Only players that typically go undrafted after four rounds (ADP of 48 or later) are eligible for this list. The data for this ADP is pulled from FantasyPros. Stash These 3 Rookie WRs in Dynasty Fantasy Football Having Savion Williams this low is confusing, and he's someone that I'm adding everywhere possible. While he's right on the dot, I've been able to stash him in quite a few leagues. Williams was drafted much higher than most of the players in this range. In fact, Williams went in the third round (87th overall) to the Green Bay Packers. It seems like most people are sick of adding these Packers wide receivers because of how many WR3 caliber players they have. Williams has the upside to be the WR2 on this team if he puts things together. Williams is 6'4' and 222 lbs while also being a great athlete. His film shows plus contested catch ability and explosiveness. At TCU, Williams was utilized a lot like Deebo Samuel, and it's not crazy to say that's his upside case. Coming out of UNLV, Ricky White was an interesting prospect. While White would fall all the way to the 7th round of the NFL Draft (238th overall), he lands in a good spot with the Seattle Seahawks. Outside of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, this wide receiver room is open for the long term. Cooper Kupp is 32 years old, and while he's going to be the WR2 this year, they don't have much beyond that. Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who is 30 years old and 5th round draft pick (166th overall), Tory Horton, is the only other target competition. White showed good separation skills, and he's dangerous with the ball in his hands. At cost, White is a good dart throw. JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA - JANUARY 02: Antwane Wells Jr. #7 of the Mississippi Rebels scores a ... More touchdown during the first half of a game against the Duke Blue Devils at EverBank Stadium on January 02, 2025 in Jacksonville, Florida. (Photo by) In a few mock drafts back in 2024, Antwane Wells was a projected 1st round pick. That wouldn't end up being the case, as Wells wouldn't get drafted and end up signing with the Giants. The upside combined with the situation makes Wells a good add. As a junior at South Carolina, Wells posted a season with 68 catches for 928 yards and three touchdowns. Wells would then miss time in 2023 before having a season where he caught 28 passes for 553 yards and six touchdowns in 2024. Outside of Malik Nabers, the Giants WR2 spot is wide open for the taking. It's a long shot, but if Wells comes anywhere close to his projected ceiling, he could easily take that spot. Wells struggled with overcoming a lack of great speed, and he's still lacking nuance across his game. That said, the flashes of great play strength, body control, and big plays make him an exciting stash in dynasty fantasy football.

Netflix secures broadcast rights for Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford boxing mega-fight
The biggest boxing fight of 2025 has found a home on the biggest streaming service in the world. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford, the Sept. 13 mega-fight between pound-for-pound greats for the sport's undisputed super middleweight titles, will be streamed globally by Netflix at no additional cost to its subscribers, Turki Alalshikh announced Tuesday. Advertisement In a major victory for the sport, Alvarez vs. Crawford becomes the third boxing event over a span of just 10 months to stream on the Netflix platform, which boasts more than 300 million global subscribers. The controversial Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul heavyweight fight became the first boxing event on Netflix this past November, ultimately being watched by an audience exceeding 65 million viewers. Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 2 was the co-feature on that night, and now the two future Hall of Famers are set to headline Netflix's second boxing event with their trilogy fight on July 11 in New York. Additionally, Alalshikh said that Alvarez vs. Crawford will take place in Las Vegas but did not name a venue. Allegiant Stadium was originally supposed to host Alvarez vs. Crawford on Sept. 12, however once the date of the fight changed to Sept. 13, it was unable to do so, as the venue had a preexisting booking with the UNLV Rebels vs. Idaho State college football game. Advertisement It was then announced that Saudi-owned Sela would be the lead promoter for the highly anticipated 168-pound showdown instead of TKO Boxing — the latter being an entity formed by Alalshikh, UFC CEO Dana White and WWE president Nick Khan earlier this year. White and the UFC faced a dilemma when the date shifted from Sept. 12 to Sept. 13, as the UFC had already committed to promoting its Noche UFC 3 event on that date. However, construction delays at Mexico's Arena Guadalajara forced the show to be moved to San Antonio and become a Fight Night event rather than the originally-planned pay-per-view card. After this happened, White was able to commit to Alvarez vs. Crawford again, and thus TKO will be the lead promoter for the event. Allegiant Stadium is also understood to be back in play to host the show, with a potential deal in the works to shift the UNLV football game off the date. Alvarez and Crawford will come face-to-face for a three-city press tour beginning on June 20 in Riyadh, then on June 22 in New York, before concluding June 27 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
