Dolphins lineman Bayron Matos airlifted to hospital after suffering undisclosed injury, is in stable condition
Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Bayron Matos was airlifted by helicopter after suffering an undisclosed training camp injury Wednesday, according to the Miami Herald. The Herald reported that Matos is in stable condition but that the Dolphins declined to say anything else about the 6-foot-7, 334-pound lineman's injury. Matos' injury appeared to occur during an accidental collision with a teammate late in practice, per the Herald, which also reported that Matos remained on the field, where he was attended to by Dolphins medical staff and surrounded by teammates, for at least 10 minutes before his hospital trip. Matos didn't play a snap for the Dolphins last season, although he did see the field during the 2024 preseason. The former USF football walk-on is still relatively new to the sport. He was born in the Dominican Republic, where he played baseball and basketball. He moved to the United States when he was in high school and eventually played three years of Division I college basketball — the first two at New Mexico and the third at USF. He gave football a try at USF, initially lining up at defensive end before ultimately switching to the other side of the ball. Matos played 22 total snaps for the Bulls during the 2022 season, according to Pro Football Focus, which has him down for 11 special teams snaps and 11 defensive snaps that year. Flash forward to January 2024, and Matos was one of 16 NFL hopefuls who received an opportunity to showcase his talents via the league's International Player Pathway in 2024. The program provides international athletes a chance to work out in front of NFL scouts at IMG Academy before the draft and then be eligible to fill a 17th practice squad spot for any of the league's 32 teams. Matos went undrafted last year, yet the Dolphins signed him. After training camp, they brought him back for their practice squad.

Dolphins offensive lineman Matos hospitalized, in stable condition after first day of training camp
Dolphins offensive lineman Bayron Matos was injured late in the team's first training camp practice and was taken by helicopter to a local hospital, the team confirmed Wednesday. Matos is in stable condition, but the team declined to say anything else about the nature of his injury. The team ended practice while medical officials were administering to Matos, who was on the field and surrounded by teammates for more than 10 minutes before being airlifed to a hospital. The team said the injury was not the reason practice ended after 90 minutes. First training camp practices generally tend to be shorter. Matos, a 6-7, 334-pound offensive lineman, is in his second year in the league and has not played a snap in an NFL game. 'I want to be one of the best tackles to play in the NFL,' he said last year. The Dolphins thought so much of Matos when they signed him 16 months ago that they guaranteed him $247,500, an unusually high number for an undrafted rookie. At least 10 other teams showed interest. Born in the Dominican Republic, Matos, 23, initially played baseball growing up (he could throw in the 90s as a pitcher) but moved to the United States to play college basketball for two years at New Mexico and for a year at University of South Florida. He walked on as a football player at USF and played a couple dozen snaps on defense before moving to the offensive line. Matos moved to the United States from the Dominican Republic when he was 17, initially for 'basketball, to learn English, learn the culture.' In three years playing Division I college basketball, he averaged 3.4 points and 3.3 rebounds and 14 minutes per game in 48 games and 19 starts. But Matos' 'host family in Tennessee said… you will be a football player. You will never touch a basketball.' So he walked on at USF and appeared in two games as a defensive end before switching to the offensive line, where he never saw game action. 'I played 11 snaps in two games, against BYU and Howard, got the feel for it, played special teams,' Matos said. 'Football is a beautiful sport.' Matos is one of more than a dozen NFL players who was selected for the NFL's International Player Pathway Program, designed to give opportunities to foreign players. He runs well for his size — a 4.88 in the 40-yard dash. Cornerback injured Veteran cornerback Artie Burns, who signed with the team earlier this offseason, left the facility on crutches. Burns appeared to be injured early in practice, when the team was stretching.

Former Tennessee quarterback Gaston Moore signs with USF, Alex Golesh
Former Tennessee quarterback Gaston Moore is essentially coming out of college football retirement to play for former Vols offensive coordinator Alex Golesh at South Florida. On July 22, Moore signed with USF, according to numerous reports. He entered the transfer portal in December following UT's 2024 season but didn't join another team. It was assumed that he had moved on after football. But now he's a late addition for Golesh, who enters his third season at USF's coach. It is Moore's third college program. In 2020, Moore redshirted at UCF under coach Josh Heupel. In 2021, he followed Heupel by transferring to Tennessee as a walk-on. Moore played four seasons with the Vols as a reserve quarterback who could operate Heupel's offense. He was 26-of-44 passing for 273 yards, two TDs and three interceptions in 14 games, mostly as a backup to Joe Milton in 2023 and Nico Iamaleava in 2024. JOEY AGUILAR He won over Tennessee teammates. Now he must win QB job When Moore left UT in late December, Iamaleava was set to return as the starting quarterback, and Jake Merklinger was stepping into the backup role. George MacIntyre had also arrived as an early signee. Since then, Iamaleava transferred to UCLA, which led to UT's quarterback competition heading into the 2025 season. IT exports hit record at $4.6b
Listen to article Pakistan's information technology, IT-enabled services (ITeS) and freelancers' exports hit an all-time high of $4.6 billion in fiscal year 2024-25, higher by 26.4% from the previous year, but stakeholders still complained about the lack of government support. The total exports included $3.8 billion in services' exports and $779 million in earnings from freelancing and remote work, up 90%. The Ministry of IT and Telecom stressed that the government focused on action across five core areas that contributed to the massive growth. These areas comprised positioning Pakistan globally, investing in talent and infrastructure, protecting and supporting through policy, ensuring stable high-speed internet and digitalisation, especially digitising the economy and cashless initiatives. IT and Telecom Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja said that Pakistan was well on its way to achieve $15 billion in IT exports by 2030. She credited the achievement of $4.6 billion in IT exports to a unified national strategy, led by the government and supported by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and allied institutions. Speaking to the media, the minister said, "This success is the result of close coordination between the civilian and military leadership, along with contributions from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Ministry of Finance, Planning Commission, Universal Service Fund (USF), Ignite and Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB)." She highlighted the government's focus on developing human capital, with over 350,000 youth trained through joint programmes with PSEB, Ignite, National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), Higher Education Commission (HEC) and global tech leaders like Google, Huawei and Microsoft. Shaza Fatima said that the IT ministry had launched 43 new co-working spaces and 23 Special Technology Zones last year, taking the total number of tech parks to 44. These facilities now house over 18,000 professionals engaged in freelancing, remote work and tech startups. She also announced government-backed incentives to expand those spaces into tier-2 and tier-3 cities through interest-free loans. "We're rapidly emerging as a regional digital and data hub," she stated. Highlighting the growth in connectivity, the minister said that Pakistan had over 200 million mobile service subscribers, with 150 million active mobile broadband users. Data usage jumped 24% last year and is expected to grow further, signalling deepening digital penetration. She said that USF connected over 550 villages to the internet in the past one year and aimed to double that number in the current fiscal year. "We're bridging the digital divide in areas the market doesn't serve." Shaza Fatima announced that the regulatory groundwork for licensing the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite internet providers was nearly complete and licences would be issued in the current year. Speaking about the government's $25 billion digital vision, the minister elaborated that $15 billion was targeted through IT exports and $10 billion via national digitisation. "We're well on track to achieve this goal," she asserted. One of the key pillars is the Digital Pakistan Act, which paves the way for the Pakistan Digital Authority. As the minister outlined the achievements, the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) demanded that the government come up with a long-term, predictable tax and compliance framework for the technology and ITeS sector. Association Chairman Sajjad Syed, in a statement, said that innovators were compelled to spend too much time navigating the overlapping regimes and too little time developing export products.
