Tajuddin tops G7 vote in Pasir Salak, marks return to Umno General Assembly

IPOH: Former Umno Supreme Council member, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, has demonstrated that his political influence remains strong after emerging as the top vote-getter in the G7 selection for the Pasir Salak Umno Division. With this result, Tajuddin will represent the division at the 2025 Umno General Assembly. He secured 376 votes, followed by his wife, Datin Seri Rohkiah Abdul Samat, who also achieved an impressive result with 362 votes, surpassing the other candidates during the Pasir Salak Umno Division meeting on Sunday. The G7 refers to a group of delegates elected during Umno division-level meetings to represent their divisions at the Umno General Assembly. Umno Pasir Salak Division deputy chief Mohd Nazari Sabran said the result reflects the continued strong grassroots support for Tajuddin and his wife's political struggle. "I would like to express my appreciation and deepest thanks to all Umno Pasir Salak Division delegates who attended and committed to the recent division meeting. "Congratulations to all successful G7 candidates, especially to Ayahanda Datuk Seri Tajuddin and Bonda Datin Seri Rohkiah for their outstanding victory. "This clearly shows that members' confidence in their leadership remains firm and unwavering," he said in a Facebook post yesterday. Mohd Nazari also emphasised his commitment to continue serving the party and strengthening unity among Umno Pasir Salak members. Tajuddin was suspended from Umno for six years in October 2022 over his criticism of party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. On Nov 25 last year, Umno lifted the six-year suspension of Tajuddin, effective immediately. Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the decision was made in accordance with the party's constitution. The Supreme Council unanimously agreed to revoke Tajuddin's suspension in accordance with Clause 10.6 and Clause 5.3 of the party's constitution. On Sunday, Zahid praised Tajuddin's persistence and sincerity in returning to the party after being expelled. Zahid said Tajuddin had met the Prime Minister three times, asking to be accepted again as an Umno member and expressing his wish to "die as an Umno member." "He sent his wife, children, son-in-law, submitted three appeal letters, and even attended the General Assembly and several by-elections," Zahid said.

Umno postpones general assembly to November to focus on Sabah election

Published on: Tuesday, July 01, 2025 Published on: Tue, Jul 01, 2025 By: Bernama Text Size: KUALA LUMPUR: The 2025 Umno General Assembly, originally scheduled for August, has been postponed to Nov 26-29 in view of preparations for the upcoming Sabah state election. Umno Secretary-General Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, in a statement, said the decision was made during the Umno Supreme Council (MT) meeting held at Menara Dato' Onn, World Trade Centre (WTC) Kuala Lumpur on Monday (June 30) night. The meeting chaired by Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and was also attended by vice presidents Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, along with other supreme council members. In March, the Umno supreme council had initially set this year's General Assembly for Aug 20 to 23. The five-year term of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly is scheduled to expire automatically on Nov 11 this year, paving the way for the 17th Sabah state election. Additionally, Asyraf Wajdi said Umno will conduct a mid-term review of the effectiveness and performance of the Malaysian unity government, including the achievements of the Umno leadership within the administration, and in government-linked and affiliated agencies. Meanwhile, he said Umno sees no justification for parties in the unity government to absorb members from other component parties, in order to prevent misunderstandings and disharmony within the government. He added that the meeting also decided that the supreme council may consider any appeal submitted by members subjected to disciplinary action, in line with Clause 20.12 of the Umno Constitution. Asyraf Wajdi also expressed Umno's appreciation to the Umno Liaison Bodies of Terengganu and Perak for assisting in the management and delivery of aid to the victims of the tragic bus accident in Gerik on June 10, which claimed the lives of 15 students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Umno divisional meetings best platform to raise grassroots voices

KUALA LUMPUR: The ongoing Umno Divisional Delegates' Meetings nationwide serve as the ideal platform for grassroots members to raise issues which require the attention of the party's top leadership. Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki expressed hope that all representatives involved can make the most of the meeting space, which will run until July 27, so that all issues can be raised at the Umno General Assembly, from Aug 20 to 23. 'I recommend party members take this opportunity to engage in discussions at their respective divisional levels, and ensure that grassroots voices are brought to the attention of the Umno leadership,' he told reporters after attending the MARA-Petronas Automotive Entrepreneur Development Programme (PUMP), here, today. Asyraf Wajdi also described the party's nationwide branch-level meetings, held from April 7 to May 25 this year, as very encouraging, noting a significantly higher turnout compared with the previous year. He said that the positive response reflected a renewed sense of enthusiasm among grassroots members, who appeared increasingly committed to fulfilling their respective responsibilities.
