McHose And Unbox Therapy Join Forces To Launch Their First Co-Branded Keyboard

The McHose UT98 is a joint venture with Unboxed Therapy headed by Canadian Lewis Hilsenteger. Here ... More it is in the Retro Therapy colorway. Computer peripherals brand McHose has joined forces with global tech review platform Unbox Therapy to launch a co-branded keyboard. The new UT98 mechanical keyboard, will launch on Kickstarter from July 17, 2025. The partnership with McHose began last August when Lewis Hilsenteger of Unbox Therapy was sent a McHose GX87 keyboard. He was impressed by the GX87's soft and bouncy typing experience and featured it in a review video. Apparently, the response was overwhelming and the video received over five million views and garnered widespread praise. Among the praise, some viewers also pointed out that the audible keystroke sound of the GX87 keyboard could be distracting in quieter environments like offices, libraries or shared workspaces. In response, McHose and UT descried to join forces and create a new keyboard with the same tactile feel of the GX87, but with a quieter key sound. The Classic Therapy version of the McHose UT98 has a a black-and white theme with a modern and ... More minimalist look. Months Of Collaboration After months of working on the new keyboard and refining the design, the UT98 keyboard was ready for prime time. It's a 98% compact layout with a Cherry profile, numeric keypad, with a full row of function keys and a cursor cluster. The UT98 is available with a choice of two types of hot-swappable switches to suit different typing styles. The UT98 is compatible with any MX-style switches using 3 or 5 pins. The first switch option on the UT98 keyboard is the Silent Peach V3, which has an operating force of 40g, a pre-travel distance of 2mm and a total travel of 3mm. The Silent Peach switches are ultra-quiet with a sound rating less than 35dB. These are switches best suited to anyone working in a shared space or a busy office. The second switch type is the Icy Creamsicle. This is one of McHose's most popular switches and has a reputation for being exceptionally smooth, fast and with a creamy feel. These are Linear/HiFi switches and recommended for gamers. They have a 40gf actuation force, pre-travel distance of 2mm and an overall travel of 3.30mm. McHose offers a choice of switch with the UT98. The switches are hot swappable and there is a choice ... More of the Silent Peach V3 switch or the Icy Creamsicle linear switch which is suited to gaming. Gasket Mount Design The advanced gasket mount design of the UT98 includes five layers of sound-dampening materials including Poron foam, IPXE foam, IPET film, bottom cotton and silicone gaskets. The result is smooth and quiet keystrokes with low vibration for reduced impact and a satisfying sound. The layered structure enhances stability and improves comfort. The UT98 has a knurled rotary control that functions as a volume adjuster and can mute the computer's audio when pressed. There's also a dedicated key that will launch the Windows calculator. There are modifier keys for macOS and Windows systems included in the box. McHose says its UT98 keyboard is a tribute to the Unbox Therapy brand. After several iterations and quite a few refinements, the final design features keycap legends with the same typeface used on the Unbox Therapy logo, giving the keyboard a sleek and unified UT look. The UT98 has a knurled rotary control that functions as a volume control and will mute the ... More computer's audio when pressed. Good Connections There are three methods for connecting the UT98 to a host device like a PC, Mac, tablet or smartphone. The first connection method is Bluetooth and users can connect with up to three devices simultaneously. The user can switch between devices by simply pressing a key. The Bluetooth connection has the slowest latency. So, for gamers there is a 2.4GHz RF USB dongle that ships with the keyboard. This method delivers the same kind of latency as a wired connection. Finally, the UT98 can be connected with a USB cable plugged into the keyboard's Type-C port, which is also used to recharge the built-in battery. Speaking of batteries, the UT98 has a large 10,000mAh rechargeable lithium-ion cell. That's up to five times more capacity than the average wireless keyboard and it means the UT98 can function for almost 1,000 hours with the keayboard's RGB backlights turned off or about 77 hours with the backlights turned on. The McHose Silent Peach V3 switches are mechanical but without the clack and are as quiet as 35dB. Choice Of Two Colorways The McHose UT98 keyboard can be ordered in two colorways. There is Classic Therapy and Retro Therapy. The Classic Therapy has a black-and white theme that reflect a modern and minimalist look. The Retro Therapy colorway is a bold design that reflects the Unbox Therapy's signature orange color and echoes the channel's visual identity. To complement the keyboard and provide the complete Unbox Therapy experience, McHose has also produced matching and co-branded wrist rest and mouse pad. Both accessories reflect the distinctive Unbox Therapy design elements. The McHose UT98 keyboard officially launches on Kickstarter from July 17, 2025. Between June 16 and July 16, early backers can visit the prelaunch page and reserve some exclusive VIP perks for just $2 and unlock discounts up to 36% when the campaign goes live. The discounted price will be $89 plus shipping. The regular price will be $139.

iPhone 17 Air leak shows impossibly sturdy frame, but don't put your "bendgate" fears to bed just yet

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Rumored to be only 5.5mm thick, the upcoming iPhone 17 Air will be Apple's slimmest phone since the infamous iPhone 6, but can its reported titanium-aluminum frame help Apple avoid another "bendgate" disaster? Footage shared to X last week by reputable leaker "Majin Bu" claims to show a mock-up of the iPhone 17 Air being put through an impromptu bend test and passing with flying colors. Should it prove accurate, it's a clear indicator that Apple is taking durability seriously with its return to ultra-thin smartphones. While the iPhone 17 Air hasn't been officially announced yet, we've seen a boatload of rumors about it, including leaked images of the design. The dummy unit shown in the video certainly matches up to what we've seen so far, but can we expect the real deal to stand up to similar levels of punishment? Maybe we shouldn't put our "bendgate" fears to bed just yet. See also: Best Apple deals in May 2025 On Friday, Majin Bu posted a video on X showing a bend test with a dummy version of the iPhone 17 Air. Despite repeated attempts, the mock-up barely flinches, a polar opposite outcome to Apple's previous iPhone 6 Plus, which controversially folded with ease during Unbox Therapy's famous "bendgate" video released in 2014. Hopefully, this is an indicator that Apple has learned from its past mistakes with "bendgate," and devised a way to make the iPhone 17 Air significantly more durable than the iPhone 6 Plus. The iPad Pro M4 gives us reason to be optimistic, at least, since its ultra-thin chassis reportedly uses a new internal ribbing design that helps prevent bending. However, you might not want to get your hopes up just yet. Keep in mind, the "phone" in this video is not an actual iPhone 17 Air, or even a phone at all. It's a pre-production "dummy," meaning it's a model based on the actual phone, or at least appears to be. Since this isn't coming directly from Apple, we can't confirm how accurate the design or build quality of this mock-up is, regardless of how much it resembles previously leaked images of the iPhone 17 Air. That said, dummy units like this are sometimes solid through-and-through, designed to give third-party companies a better idea of the size, weight, or ergonomics of a device to aid with the design of accessories, like smartphone cases, well in advance of a product's release. This lump of metal may pass the bend test with ease, but the actual iPhone 17 Air that is expected to hit store shelves later this year? That's another story entirely. Even if this leaked video is an accurate representation of the iPhone 17 Air's resistance to bending, durability isn't the only concern surrounding this phone. Battery life could also take a hit due to the Air's ultra-thin chassis. There's simply less space for a large battery compared to something like the iPhone 17 Pro. That may be why Apple is rumored to be introducing an AI-powered battery optimization feature, which may be able to help compensate for a physically smaller battery in the iPhone 17 Air. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge may give us an idea of what to expect in terms of battery life. It features an ultra-thin design similar to the iPhone 17 Air, including a 3,900 mAh battery, which is notably smaller than the 4,900 mAh battery in the S25 Plus. It's possible we could see a similar reduction in battery size from the iPhone 17 or 17 Pro compared to the iPhone 17 Air. We're keeping a close eye on all of the latest rumors and updates surrounding the iPhone 17, iOS 26 (formerly iOS 19), and WWDC 2025, so stay tuned for more info. iPhone 17 Air: Rumors are thick on the thinnest iPhone ever WWDC 2025 preview: iOS 26, Apple's video game plans, Apple Intelligence, Mac Pro M4 Ultra What separates a $1,000 iPhone from a $3,500 one? About 7,000 miles.

Hate the small Galaxy S25 Edge battery? You'll laugh at these leaked iPhone 17 Air battery details

Unbox Therapy TL;DR The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be just 5.5mm thick, making it even thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge. A new leak suggests the phone could have a laughable 2,800mAh battery, over 1,000mAh smaller than the Galaxy S25 Edge's already criticized 3,900mAh cell. Apple is expected to rely on high-density battery tech and optional battery cases to offset the small capacity. The Galaxy S25 Edge didn't launch with the kind of applause Samsung was hoping for. While the phone's 5.8mm thickness is commendable, fans have been largely unimpressed with its 3,900mAh battery, especially considering the phone is pricier than the Galaxy S25 Plus, which features a much more robust 4,900mAh cell. This is why a recent survey conducted on Android Authority showed results that lean toward the Galaxy S25 Edge being a flop. Well, if you thought the S25 Edge's battery wasn't up to par, you'll probably laugh at the iPhone 17 Air's leaked battery capacity. According to information disclosed on Naver, citing a supply chain source, the iPhone 17 Air will be even thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge, coming in at just 5.5mm. Dummies of the ultra-thin iPhone have been floating around for a while, and its slimness definitely looks impressive. However, that sleek design might come at a major cost. According to the leak, the phone could end up with a 2,800mAh battery. Yup, you read that right. The thin iPhone might have a battery that's over 1,000mAh smaller than Samsung's already-criticized thin Galaxy. The leak suggests Apple could be using high-density battery tech to boost capacity by 15–20%. And of course, Apple being Apple, the company is expected to sell battery cases alongside the iPhone 17 Air. We've also heard rumors that Apple is working on an AI-powered battery-saving feature. To add to the ultra-thin theme, the report suggests the phone might be light as a feather too, weighing just 145 grams, which is also less than the Galaxy S25 Edge's 163 grams.

Apple to bring back battery case for iPhone 17 Air

Apple is expected to launch its iPhone 17 Air this fall, marking a return of the slim phone trend. With the device rumored to measure just 5.65mm, Apple will naturally have to cut some corners, including the device's battery capacity, rumored to be in the 3,000 – 4,000mAh range. iPhone 17 Air dummy unit (credit: Unbox Therapy) We now get a new set of details about a possible return of the Smart Battery Case, which would help extend the phone's runtime. A new report from The Information reveals that Apple is planning to bring back the Smart Battery Case for the iPhone 17 Air. Apple's journey with battery cases began in 2015 with the official Smart Battery Case for the iPhone 6s and continued until the iPhone 11 series. iPhone 11 and 11 Pro Smart Battery Case Cupertino then moved to MagSafe Battery Pack with the iPhone 12 generation, which was later discontinued in 2023 shortly after the iPhone 15 launch According to the new report, early internal tests by Apple determined that only 60-70% of iPhone 17 Air users will get a full day's use without needing a recharge throughout the day. For reference, the figures stand at 80% - 90% for the other iPhone 17 models. The new report also mentions that Apple suppliers are only dedicating around 10% of their production capacity to the iPhone 17 Air due to uncertainties with demand. We also get confirmation that the device will feature a single rear camera, one speaker and no SIM card slot. Source (paywall)

iPhone 17 Air shown in new leak with ultra-thin design

Listen to article A new video leak has unveiled what is claimed to be the upcoming iPhone 17 Air, showcasing a design that's thinner than any iPhone before it. The device, reportedly from dummy models circulating in China, could reshape Apple's smartphone offering with an incredibly slim profile. The video, shared by Unbox Therapy on YouTube, offers a first look at the iPhone 17 Air, which is expected to be significantly thinner than current models. The device measures just 5.65mm at its smallest point, compared to the 8.75mm thickness of the iPhone 16 Pro Max. For context, the iPhone 17 Air's thinness is even slimmer than a pencil, setting it apart from its bulkier predecessors. In the video, host Lewis George Hilsenteger examines the dummy models, and while he expresses concerns about the potential for bending, he notes that this can't be fully verified until the real device is in consumers' hands. If the leak proves accurate, the iPhone 17 Air could be Apple's thinnest and most pocket-friendly design to date. However, achieving such extreme thinness may come at a cost. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature just one camera lens and could also have a smaller battery, a move that suggests Apple is prioritising style over features in this iteration. These compromises raise questions about the device's performance and longevity. This leak is part of a growing wave of rumours surrounding the iPhone 17 series. Previous leaks have hinted at an extended camera bar for the iPhone 17 Pro, offering increased customisation for cases, while other reports have suggested a budget 'e' model could be introduced alongside the regular iPhone 17 lineup. Despite the sacrifices made to achieve its slim design, the iPhone 17 Air could still prove to be a stylish choice for consumers looking for a sleek and lightweight device. Apple's plans for its new release remain under wraps, but the device is expected to be unveiled officially in September 2025, as per the company's usual launch schedule.
