‘The Paper' OTT release date OUT: Check when and where to watch follow-up to ‘The Office'

Peacock has announced that 'The Paper', its new comedy series and a spiritual follow-up to the hit mockumentary 'The Office', will premiere on September 4. The first four episodes will be available at launch, with Indian audiences able to stream the series exclusively on JioHotstar from September 5. Created, written, and executive produced by Greg Daniels ('The Office') and Michael Koman ('Nathan for You'), 'The Paper' continues Daniels' exploration of workplace dynamics through sharp, observational humour. The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. Following the debut, two new episodes will be released each Thursday until the series wraps on September 26. The series follows in the footsteps of 'The Office', the acclaimed American mockumentary that originally aired on NBC from 2005 to 2013 and has since become a global cultural phenomenon. While 'The Paper' is not a direct sequel, it shares creative DNA and comedic sensibility with its predecessor. Joining Daniels and Koman on the production team are executive producers Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas (formerly Reveille). Direction comes from a lineup of seasoned professionals, including Daniels himself, Ken Kwapis, Yana Gorskaya, Paul Lieberstein, and others. The cast includes Domhnall Gleeson ('Ex Machina', 'About Time'), Sabrina Impacciatore ('The White Lotus'), Chelsea Frei ('Poker Face', 'The Cleaning Lady'), Melvin Gregg ('American Vandal', 'Snowfall'), Gbemisola Ikumelo ('Black Ops', 'A League Of Their Own'), and Alex Edelman ('Just For Us', 'Unfrosted'), along with Ramona Young, Tim Key, and 'The Office' alum Oscar Nuñez. Guest stars set to appear throughout the season include Eric Rahill, Tracy Letts, Molly Ephraim, Mo Welch, Allan Havey, Duane Shepard Sr., Nate Jackson, and Nancy Lenehan. With its strong creative team, ensemble cast, and lineage tracing back to one of television's most beloved comedies, 'The Paper' is poised to offer a fresh yet familiar take on modern office life, tailored for today's audience.

TV Ratings: ‘The Gilded Age' Scores Best Premiere to Date With Season 3 Opener

The third season premiere of The Gilded Age delivered the show's best opening to date. The June 22 debut of the HBO drama gathered 2.7 million cross-platform viewers in the United States over three days. That's a 27 percent improvement on the season two premiere (2.1 million viewers over three days) in October 2023. The series debut in 2022 drew in 2 million viewers over the same amount of time. More from The Hollywood Reporter Billy Joel Two-Part Documentary Sets HBO Debut NBA Playoffs Fuel Warner Bros. Discovery Gains in May TV Distributor Rankings TV Ratings: Game 7 Gives NBA Finals a Six-Year High As is usually the case with HBO series, most of The Gilded Age's viewers watched after the initial airing, which drew 430,000 viewers on the HBO cable channel, according to Nielsen. The remaining 2.27 million streamed the episode on Max (which likely accounted for the majority of viewing), watched a DVR recording or caught an on-air replay. The 430,000 on-air viewers, incidentally, is fairly close to prior season premieres; season two opened with 452,000 for the first airing, and the series premiere drew 463,000. The higher start for the show obviously bodes well for the series, which comes from Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes and Universal Television. The previous two seasons have grown a good amount over the course of their runs, with each finale drawing about 50 percent more viewers than that season's premiere. Season two finished HBO's 90-day measurement window with an average of 7.1 million viewers per episode. HBO also noted that viewing of seasons one and two of The Gilded Age spiked leading up to the season three premiere. The show's catalog drew five times more viewers (though exact figures aren't available) in the week of June 16-22 than it did the previous week. ‘Pitch Perfect: K-Pop Idols' in development as Brownstone signs first-look deal with UTV

Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman's Brownstone Productions has signed a first-look television deal with Universal Television (UTV). Under the agreement, the company will develop and produce scripted series for all platforms, with two projects already in development for Peacock. One of the lead projects is Pitch Perfect: K-Pop Idols, a continuation of the Pitch Perfect franchise. Written by Joel Kim Booster, the series follows a struggling singer-songwriter whose life changes after auditioning for the first all-American K-pop group. Banks and Handelman will executive produce the new series, alongside Paul Brooks and Scott Niemeyer of Gold Circle Films. Jason Moore, who directed the original Pitch Perfect film, will return as director and executive producer. Brownstone and Gold Circle have been behind all three Pitch Perfect films, with Banks having directed Pitch Perfect 2 and appearing in each instalment. The deal strengthens Brownstone's relationship with NBCUniversal, following past collaborations including the Pitch Perfect film trilogy and the recent film Cocaine Bear.
