As soon as they sold out, the shoes began popping up on the resale market. As of the writing of this article, people still looking for the shoe can buy it for the marked-up price of $365. According to two reputable sneaker accounts on X, there were only around 13,000 pairs available on Monday's drop, making these shoes even more of a collector's item. The shoes follow the same design as Lakers legend Kobe Bryant's fifth signature shoe. Nike describes the sneaker on their website as 'Midnight Navy, Bright Crimson, vibrant hits of University Gold, and polished off with a high-gloss finish that glistens under the spotlight.' Those colors align closely with the jersey of the star player for the Indiana Fever. She is the primary reason why this shoe sold out so quickly. Last year's WNBA Rookie of the Year is currently dealing with a groin injury, which has held her out of the Fever's last two games. Clark, who was recently voted an All-Star Game captain, also suffered a left quad strain in late May. 3 Caitlin Clark cheers on her teammates while on the bench, injured. Nike rolls out WNBA star Caitlin Clark's version of Kobe Bryant's sneaker

Caitlin Clark's version of a popular Nike sneaker dropped on Monday morning, and the WNBA superstar etched her name next to the late NBA icon Kobe Bryant. The Kobe V Protro retails for $190 and incorporates slightly more splashy versions of blue, red, and gold, colors of her team, the Indiana Fever. Nike described the sneakers' shades as "Midnight Navy, Bright Crimson, vibrant hits of University Gold, and polished off with a high-gloss finish that glistens under the spotlight." Before his retirement in 2016 and death in a 2020 helicopter crash, Bryant was arguably basketball's most famous contemporary name. And likewise, Clark has become the world's biggest name in women's basketball, if not the sport at large. Clark finished up her amateur career at the University of Iowa last year as her sport's all-time leading scorer before winning the WNBA's Rookie of the Year award. She was named Time Magazine's Athlete of the Year for 2024. Also on Sunday, Clark and Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier were named captains for the WNBA's All-Star Game, which will be held on July 19 at Fever's home court, Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
