Firework thrown from truck in early morning Waterloo assault
Waterloo Regional Police are investigating after a firework was thrown from a moving truck at a person sitting on a bench in Uptown Waterloo. (Sidra Jafri/CTV News) Waterloo Regional Police are investigating after a firework was thrown from a moving truck at a person sitting on a bench in Uptown Waterloo. The incident happened around 2:40 a.m. Sunday near King Street South and Willis Way. Police say a lit firework was tossed from the front passenger seat of a black pickup truck and landed on the victim's lap. The vehicle did not stop and was last seen heading toward the Uptown core. The suspect is described as a white male wearing a white hat and black t-shirt. He was sitting in the front passenger seat. No injuries were reported and police say the firework did not go off. The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information to call 519-570-9777 ext. 6399.

Hundreds attend Stanley Cup watch party in uptown Waterloo
Uptown Waterloo hosted an outdoor watch party on Monday for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup final. Hundreds of hockey fans showed up to watch the Edmonton Oilers take on the Florida Panthers -- and were left disappointed with a 6-1 loss. Waterloo Mayor Dorothy McCabe, Uptown Waterloo BIA executive director Jeyas Balaskanthan and some hockey fans spoke to CBC K-W's John Dalusong at the event.

A flick, kick and swing! Learn how to swing dance in Waterloo this summer
A local dance group will be performing in Uptown Waterloo Square this summer — and you can get in on the fun too. Hepcat Waterloo, joined by the KW Kool Big Band, will dance for several Tuesdays this summer. They will be offering free dance lessons as well. Dancers Tara Natter and Jeff Benoit gave CBC K-W's Aastha Shetty a demo of what you can expect to see at the series of events.
