WWE 'Raw': Cody Rhodes defeats Jey Uso, reaches King of the Ring finals

June 24 (UPI) -- Cody Rhodes was able to reach the finals of the King of the Ring tournament after battling Jey Uso in the main event of WWE Raw on Monday. The match pitted the two friends and former tag team champions against each other. Rhodes pulled out all the stops against Uso, including using the Figure-Four submission hold. Uso responded with a Sleeper that nearly incapacitated The American Nightmare. Uso was also able to land a Spear but it wasn't enough. Rhodes kept the pressure up and over the course of the match was able to deliver two Super Cody Cutters from the top rope. The highly-competitive match came to an end after Rhodes was finally able to deliver the Cross Rhodes, which put Uso down for the three count. Rhodes will now face Randy Orton in the King of the Ring tournament finals Saturday at Night of Champions. The winner will be crowned the 2025 King of the Ring and will receive a world title match at SummerSlam, which takes place over two nights on Aug. 2 and 3. Triple H in a pickle involving two potential finalists ahead of WWE Night of Champions match – here's who they are

Triple H seems to face a major issue ahead of the WWE Night of Champions involving two possible finalists – Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. Considering their world-famous rivalry and recent World Championship losses, both men are in no position to lose out on the Night of Champions title which makes their upcoming semifinal all the more important. As of now, Sami Zayn, Randy Orton, Rhodes, and Uso have qualified for the first-round matches of the King of the Ring Tournament, a part of the WWE Night of Champions tournament. Zayn and Orton are scheduled to compete in this week's SmackDown to decide the first finalist for the tournament. The much-anticipated clash between Rhodes and Uso will feature in next week's RAW to determine the second finalist. Speculations suggest that a possible interference from Seth Rollins and his faction could thaw the match. These circumstances came close to reality in this week's RAW episode when Uso pinned down Branson Reed to advance to the King of the Ring tournament in a deadly 4-way win. Rollins came out in anger at the end and challenged Uso to a confrontation. Just as Uso was prepping for a stomp, Rhodes stepped in favor of his long-time friend Rollins which led to all parties peacefully backing down. Next week's battle between Rhodes and Uso is a crucial one for WWE Night of Champions. Another loss for either of the two could prove quite heavy for their career. Fans are now anxious to see Triple H book the final moments of next week's match.

Jey Uso Reveals The Unlikely Boy Band On His Playlist

Jey Uso recently revealed what type of music he's listening to before going to the ring, and one pick had fans surprised. During a recent video with GQ Sports about his 'essential' items, Uso talked about his pre-show music playlist. While some of his music choices featured artists like J. Cole or Gucci Mane, it also sported the likes of NSYNC. Advertisement 'I got range though, Uce,' said Uso. 'I got that NSYNC to Britney Spears, all the way to Young Jeezy and Gucci Mane.' Some of the other artists Uso shouted out were Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole, the latter of whom he said was probably his favorite artist. Uso also said he listens to a lot of classic R&B, like Usher, before he goes out to the ring. The reason why, according to Uso, is that there's lots to remember, so he likes to stay mellow. Uso is currently enjoying his reign as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Following a successful title defense this month, he's also set to compete at Money in the Bank, where he'll team up with Cody Rhodes to take on John Cena and Logan Paul.
