Southampton boxer Edmondson suffers defeat to Lapin at Wembley
SOUTHAMPTON boxer Lewie Edmondson lost his undefeated record in a majority decision defeat to Daniel Lapin at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. Edmondson, 29, was edged on decision (95-95, 96-94, 96-94) in a tight contest during the undercard for Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois' second fight. Edmondson looked baffled when the scorecards were read out in favour of his Polish-born Ukrainian opponent, having felt he did enough to secure a career-progressing win. After a slow start, Edmondson pinned Lapin into the corner at the end of the fourth round, and the 28 year old could only get out by holding onto 'The Saint'. In the eighth round, Edmondson forced Lapin back into the ropes, and the six-foot-six-inch southpaw got tangled twice. Lapin responded with a combination of blows in the ninth round - his best of the night - which may have been the deciding factor in the eyes of the judges. With this win, Lapin is now IBF Intercontinental, WBA Continental and WBO International light-heavyweight champion. Edmonson's record has dropped to 11-1 (3 KOs), but he should be proud despite suffering a tight defeat, which could have gone either way.

Kate Scott abruptly tries to end DAZN's coverage of Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois before she's forced into U-turn
KATE SCOTT was caught up in an awkward ending to DAZN's boxing coverage of Oleksandr Usyk's knock out win over Daniel Dubois. The 43-year-old presenter tried to end the show before she appeared to be told in her ear by a producer to make an quick u-turn. 2 Scott chose a bold fashion choice as she fronted up DAZN's coverage of the fight at Wembley Stadium. Scott, previously known as Kate Abdo before her recent marriage to Malik Scott, was front and centre for the broadcast. She was joined on the initial coverage by former two-weight world boxing champion Carl Frampton, who leant his boxing expertise to the show. Boxing icon Lennox Lewis also joined the lineup later in the coverage. Usyk only needed five rounds to knock Dubois out and become undisputed heavyweight champion for the second time. The Ukrainian, 38, knocked Dubois down with a stunning right hook midway through round five. He then wrapped things up with a devastating left hook to the chin of the 27-year-old. Dubois was gunning to avenge his previous loss to Usyk and become the UK's first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999. JOIN SUN VEGAS: GET £50 BONUS 2 Essex-based Dubois gave his fans a fright when he didn't arrive at Wembley until around 90 minutes before the opening bell. Fans were also left baffled when the national anthems were sung BEFORE both boxers stepped into the ring Tyson Fury spotted running after Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois as he posts X-rated message to rival VIPS filled the front row ringside seats, including Gordan Ramsey, Frank Bruno, Jason Statham and YouTube boxer Jake Paul. On the night, Paul confirmed he will fight Anthony Joshua in an epic Wembley showdown next year. OLEKSANDR USYK cemented his name in the list of all-time boxing greats as he became a three-time undisputed champion with a fifth round knockout win over Daniel Dubois. Usyk dropped Dubois multiple times as he put any doubts about his first win over the Brit to bed by cementing the repeat and avoiding the revenge. Here, SunSport's Jack Figg gives his round-by-round verdict... ROUND ONE Usyk looks light on his toes, swaying side to side, Dubois plants his feet and walks forward. Stiff jab from Usyk appears to almost wake Dubois up and the Brit responds with a one-two. Usyk searches to the body with a left, blocks a right hand from Dubois and ends the round with a menacing combo. Usyk 10 Dubois 9 ROUND TWO Dubois lunges in with a right hand, Usyk expertly takes half a step back and responds with a counter left. Another right misses from Dubois and he takes a left cross which has him on shaky legs. Already Usyk is finding his rhythm, making Dubois miss and certainty making him pay. Usyk 10 Dubois 9 (Usyk 20 Dubois 18) ROUND THREE Usyk staggers back after a right hand from Dubois - maybe more off balance than hurt. Dubois charges forward with a left hook, right hand but Usyk covers up well. Huge left hook lands on the button from Usyk, sweat sprays off Dubois face. Usyk 10 Dubois 9 (Usyk 30 Dubois 27) ROUND FOUR Right uppercut lands on Usyk's belt-line in a genuine case of dejavu from low-blow gate in their first fight. Dubois traps Usyk in the corner, lands a right but the Ukrainian legend slips off before any troubling damage can be done. Left hand lands for Usyk but Dubois grabs on and closes the distance, smart defence to cap off his best round so far. Usyk 9 Dubois 10 (Usyk 39 Dubois 37) ROUND FIVE Right hook followed by a left hand lands for Usyk has Dubois teetering backwards. Dubois comes forward, charging at Usyk and the two trade off in the corner but DOWN GOES DUBOIS after a counter right hook. He makes it to his feet but is dropped with another left hook and the fight is over! Dubois fails to beat the count and Usyk is once again undisputed heavyweight world champion. Usyk wins by KO

Frank Warren picks Usyk-Dubois winner
Promoter Frank Warren has picked his charge Daniel Dubois to upset lineal heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk when the pair meet at Wembley Stadium later this month. Warren, speaking on his promotion's YouTube channel, said that he thought Dubois would win on 19 July, exclusively on DAZN PPV. The promoter also disparaged the idea that age was going to catch up with Usyk, 23-0 (14), on the night, saying that the Ukrainian fighter had little wear and tear on his body. Catch all the latest boxing action on DAZN On fight night, Usyk will be aged 38, while Dubois will be 27. The pair first met two years ago in Wroclaw, Poland, where Usyk won by ninth-round stoppage. Questioned on whether the passage of time would affect the champion, Warren said it was a possibility, but seemed to dismiss the idea of it happening overnight. He said: 'Things like that can happen. You know, there's not a lot of miles on the clock with Usyk. Having said that, he knows that Daniel can win this fight. It's not about his ability – [ Daniel ]'s got the ability. He's got the power. He's got the boxing ability. He's got a fabulous jab. We know he can punch with both hands.' Warren also said that he thought Dubois, 22-2 (21), had the power to hurt Usyk. He said: 'If he catches him, he'll go. And if he doesn't, I think he can outbox him. But what can happen, I've got no say in it. Nobody's got any say in it. It stands to these two guys when that bells rings. The best will be the best.' Looking across the rest of the heavyweight division, Warren said that a host of great fights would result from whatever the result will be. He said: 'Joe [ Parker ] is coming in for the fight. He's the WBO mandatory. They want that fight to take place. Joe's the interim champion, so the winner's got to fight him. That, again, is a great fight. But you know what? On 19 July, we're going to see history being made.' The heavyweight division, said Warren, is going to experience a 'levelling out' as the various mandatories and interim titles are set to be sorted out one after the other. He said that it remained to be seen who the mandatories were going to be, whether someone would vacate their titles in order to go for 'bigger' fights. 'What's going to happen in the meantime,' he said, 'is that all these guys that we've been promoting and jostling around, they're either interim champions or mandatories. All of them are working with Queensberry. So we know that whatever happens, we're going to get great fights.' Frank Warren eyes record Wembley crowd for Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois with over 83,000 tickets already sold for heavyweight title fight
Frank Warren is poised to trigger an application for Wembley Stadium to increase its provisional crowd limit for the fight between Daniel Dubois and Oleksander Usyk from 88,000 to 94,000. With the clash for the undisputed world heavyweight title still almost three weeks away more than 83,000 tickets have been snapped up already. When that rises to 88,000 promoter Warren will be able to seek a 6,000 increase. The estimated record for boxing at Wembley is the 96,000 for Dubois' dramatic KO of Anthony Joshua last September. While attendances cannot reach the 120,000-plus gates at the old Wembley, the 2008 FA Cup Final filled the new stadium with 89,874. Boxing has the scope for higher turn-outs by using the pitch for seats. As do music concerts, with Adele setting in 2007 the record for the modern era of 98,000. So far. Might Usyk v Dubois overtake that? 'We'll have to see,' says Warren. 'What we do know is that the first fight on British soil for the undisputed heavyweight championship is exciting everyone home and abroad.'

EXCLUSIVE Sergey Lapin reveals exclusive details about Oleksandr Usyk's forensic training camp as champion prepares to deliver even more precise punishment in Daniel Dubois rematch
Oleksandr Usyk is preparing to dismantle Daniel Dubois all over again and this time, his team insists the punishment will be even more precise. For Team Usyk, victory is not just earned in the ring, it's built long before - through hours of video analysis, breaking down body mechanics, and a relentless pursuit of tactical upgrades. 'There is a lot of planning that goes into Oleksandr Usyk's training,' says Sergey Lapin, Usyk's long-time friend, camp manager, and one of the most trusted minds in his corner. 'We will spend days planning and analysing video. We watch fights and break them down. We break down the technique and the tactics. 'Then once we have all of that information, we put it into training. The next training session after watching the analytic video is inspiring. Oleksandr looks sensational.' In this camp, data is gospel. Every movement Dubois has made in recent fights is poured over by a team of specialists, roughly ten in all, who are tasked with dissecting and decoding their opponent in granular detail. It's not enough to know what Dubois throws. They want to know when, why, and how he moves his legs while doing it. 'I have made a special video for this camp,' Lapin explains. 'It's all of Daniel's mistakes. It's his mistakes from previous fights and also from the first fight with Oleksandr Usyk. The video also includes mistakes for Usyk that we have improved. 'It has mistakes from around five or six of Daniel's fights. We have about 10 different people reviewing all of the footage so we are picking apart everything about his style. We see how his legs work, how his punches are thrown, we see everything. And it's clear Usyk will beat him again on July 19.' But watching footage is only the beginning. The unique aspect of Team Usyk's methodology is how that information is translated into action. They don't just observe. They respond. 'We also have special training sessions, we call it analytic training,' Lapin says. 'Sometimes the boxer is involved and we break everything down. 'Sometimes it's just us going through things ourselves. It helps make Oleksandr Usyk great. It is one of the many reasons why he will be better than Daniel Dubois again.' The fight may be a rematch, but for Usyk, the approach is entirely new. Nothing is repeated. No formula is reused. Even the location of the training camp has changed, chosen deliberately to help stimulate growth, sharpen focus, and avoid complacency. 'We have decided to train at a new location this time,' Lapin reveals. 'We like change and we like upgrading our training. We are upgrading every day. View this post on Instagram A post shared by READY TO FIGHT (@rtfight_com) View this post on Instagram A post shared by DAZN Boxing (@daznboxing) 'It's like when people buy an iPhone and then the model changes to something better so you change to that. That is what we are doing with Usyk's camp. 'We are taking it to a new level every time. We are upgrading Usyk's training, we are upgrading Usyk's location, we are upgrading everything about him constantly. That's why, Usyk will be even better in the rematch than the first fight.' This evolution - constant, deliberate, and data-driven - is what Lapin and the team believe will separate Usyk from Dubois again when they meet on July 19.
