Vigilance sleuths arrest 2 govt officials for accepting bribes in Rohtas

Sasaram: Sleuths of Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) arrested two govt officials red-handed while accepting bribes in Rohtas district on Wednesday. This was the second such arrest in the district within a week. Confirming the arrests, director general (DG) of vigilance, G S Gangwar, reiterated the department's commitment to rooting out corruption, and urged citizens to report incidents of bribery and misconduct by public servants. "The drive against corrupt officials will continue, and no one harassing citizens for money will be spared," he said. Acting on a complaint from a govt schoolteacher, the VIB team arrested Sudheerkant Sharma, block education officer, and Subhash Kumar, an accountant — both posted at the block education office in Vikramganj. "The complainant alleged that the officials demanded bribes in exchange for processing his salary. After verifying the complaint, a trap was set, leading to the arrest of Sharma and Kumar with Rs 7,600 and Rs Rs 7,000 bribe money, respectively, from within their office premises," Gangwar said. This incident follows a recent case in which a sub-inspector posted with the GRP in Sasaram was caught accepting Rs10,000 from a woman in exchange for granting bail to her husband, who was accused in a snatching case. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Switch to UnionBank Rewards Card UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo The DG further said that in another operation on the same day, the VIB had arrested Vijay Kumar Srivastava, a clerk at the district land acquisition office in Shivhar, while taking a bribe of ₹70,000.
