"PM Modi has said that peace is the solution, not war": BJP MP Jagdambika Pal
New Delhi [India], June 24 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Jagdambika Pal on Tuesday stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had spoken with Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian, followed by a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, emphasising that peace is the solution, not war. 'India's Prime Minister held talks with Iran's President, followed by talks with Israel's Prime Minister and clearly said that peace, and not war, is the solution...' Pal told ANI. Meanwhile, former Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) SP Vaid welcomed the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, calling it a positive step for global peace and humanity. His statement came after an agreement between the two nations following 12 days of escalating conflict. While speaking to ANI, Vaid said the ceasefire would be beneficial for both countries and the international community. 'I think we should all welcome all across the world. It's good for humanity, it's good for the people of Iran. It's good for the people of Israel. It's good that some agreement has been reached, as US President Trump mentioned in his tweet,' he said. He further added that he had always hoped for a peaceful resolution, saying, 'I only wished that this war should not escalate. People all across the world were wishing that it should not escalate, and we are all glad that, ultimately, some kind of agreement/ceasefire has been reached.' Highlighting India's diplomatic approach, the former top cop noted that the Indian government would welcome the truce. 'I think India, as a nation, will welcome it, our government will welcome it because we have good relations with both Iran and Israel. Our PM and Foreign Minister have been pressing that negotiation is the solution - not war, and this is not an era of war,' he told ANI. He further reiterated that such peace efforts are in line with India's global vision. 'I think India as a nation will welcome such a move. Good that some agreement has been reached for ending this 12-day war between Israel and Iran,' Vaid said. (ANI)

Shesh Paul Vaid, the former Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, expressed grave concerns over the potential escalation of the Israel-Iran conflict as the United States joined in on the hostilities by striking three Iranian nuclear facilities. Vaid said that he hopes Iran does not attack US facilities or bases, claiming that the response of the US to that would be "doomsday for the world." "If Iran attacks US facilities or US bases in the region, then the US will respond in a big way, and it can escalate into World War III. I only pray to God that it doesn't happen; otherwise, it will be doomsday for the world," Vaid told here. US President Donald Trump has also threatened Iran with further military action if peace is not achieved in the region. He made the remarks in his first public statement since the "precision" strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities--Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan - by the US on Saturday (US local time).

"No Free Lunches": J&K Ex-Top Cop Explores 4 Reasons Behind Trump-Munir Meet
New Delhi: Former Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Shesh Paul Vaid on Thursday reacted to the recent lunch meeting between US President Donald Trump and Pakistan's Army Chief, Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, stating that "there are no free lunches" and outlined four possible reasons behind the interaction. Mr Vaid posted a video on his social media 'X' and said, "There is an idiom that there are no free lunches. Yesterday, US President Donald Trump invited Asim Munir for lunch. It's not the first time such a meeting has happened. In the past, Pakistan Army Chiefs have met US Presidents on three occasions. But those meetings occurred when the Army Chiefs had assumed the role of President of Pakistan." Explaining his first point, Mr Vaid said, "At that time, they met the US President as the head of Pakistan. But if we look at this situation, Asim Munir has not taken over as the head of the country. He suggested a third possibility, saying, "The US may need airbases in Pakistan to maintain control over Iran." Lastly, Mr Vaid pointed to speculation around former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is currently in jail. "The fourth reason could be concerns regarding Imran Khan. He is a popular leader, and the issue might have been raised. Only time will reveal the true motive," he concluded. On Wednesday, Trump hosted Pakistan's Army Chief, Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, at the White House. Discussions reportedly included the escalating Iran-Israel conflict and broader regional security. Speaking later at a White House event, Trump said, "Well, I stopped a war between Pakistan... I love Pakistan... and I think Modi is a fantastic man... I spoke to him last night... I think we are going to have a trade deal with Modi of India... but I stopped a war between Pakistan and India. This man (Munir) was extremely influential in stopping it from the Pakistani from the Indian side." However, after the meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a 35-minute phone call with Trump, firmly stating that the ceasefire following the May 7-10 military standoff had been achieved through direct communication between the Indian and Pakistani militaries, without any external mediation.

Cairn leads with cutting-edge technology to elevate domestic oil & gas output
New Delhi [India], June 15 (ANI): Cairn Oil & Gas, a subsidiary of the Vedanta Group and India's largest private oil and gas exploration and production company, is ramping up the deployment of advanced technologies and enhanced oil recovery techniques to boost domestic crude production. As part of its expansion strategy, the company is preparing to monetise its Shale reserves in Rajasthan and has launched the next phase of Alkali-Surfactant-Polymer (ASP) injection, targeting up to 300 million barrels of recoverable oil from mature fields. 'In Rajasthan, Cairn is preparing to monetise its Shale blocks, drawing on U.S. experience and partnering with Parker Wellbore (now part of Nabors Industries) to deploy a high-performance rig equipped with advanced automation and real-time monitoring,' the company said. Cairn is turning to sensors, seismic imaging, and generative AI to crack some of the country's toughest energy challenges, as per the company. It is deploying drone-based surveillance of digital twins and 4D seismic mapping to rejuvenate mature fields and tap unexplored reserves, as per the company. National Stock Exchange-listed Cairn Oil & Gas accounts for over a quarter of India's domestic crude oil production and aims to increase this contribution to 50 per cent. The company operates across India, holding interests in 62 blocks and producing from assets in Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Assam. Hitesh Vaid, Chief Financial Officer, Cairn Oil & Gas, Vedanta Ltd, said that the company is actively strengthening its footprint across the country to bolster exploration and production. 'Over the next 3-5 years, we plan to invest approximately USD 3-4 billion. Our focus will be on expanding exploration in our offshore blocks, leveraging deepwater projects on the East Coast and shallow water campaigns on the West Coast,' Vaid said. Additionally, the company will be scaling up operations in its existing fields with growth projects like ASP injection and the development of unconventional techniques like Tight Oil, and Shale in Rajasthan by leveraging advanced & digital technologies to improve efficiency and productivity, he added. Describing the company's activity on adopting technologies in the exploration, Vaid further added, 'By adopting cutting-edge digital solutions - Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Augmented Learning (AL), and drone-based initiatives - through real-time data analytics, automation, and predictive maintenance systems, the company has successfully optimised its operations.' DRISHTI is a one-stop solution for Cairn's data-driven reservoir and production management system, which is used to augment reservoir performance, as per the company. According to the oil and gas major, implementation of predictive operational alarms has drastically reduced downtime of equipment, leading to a 25 per cent reduction in workflow development time, further accelerating delivery and maximising productivity. 'The implementation of Process Digital Twin technology has reduced gas flaring by 30 per cent and optimised fuel gas usage by 18 per cent, enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability,' Vaid said. India has a total of 26 sedimentary basins, stretching to approximately 3.36 million square kilometres. Of this, 2.4 million square kilometres lie in onshore and shallow water, while 1.32 million square kilometres are in deeper offshore water. Notably, more than 70 per cent of the region is still unexplored. Vaid said that unlocking the identified offshore hydrocarbon reserve holds the key to achieving India's vision for energy self-reliance. 'We are optimistic about the country's offshore potential and are focused on drilling on the East Coast in the Krishna Godavari basin,' he added. In OALP Round IX, Cairn secured 7 new blocks, 4 onshore and 3 offshore, across Cambay, Saurashtra, and Mumbai basins.
