Georgia's top WR commit projected to flip to ACC school

Four-star Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver commitment Vance Spafford is projected to flip the Miami Hurricanes, per On3's Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong. Spafford has been committed to Georgia since Nov. 2025. The four-star, who is a member of the class of 2026, receiver plays high school football and competes in track and field for Mission Viejo High School in California. He's considering flipping from Georgia for several months. Advertisement The 5-foot-11, 175-pound wide receiver is the No. 74 recruit in the 2026 cycle. The four-star is one of the best slot receivers in the nation and the No. 10 recruit in California. Spafford is ranked as the No. 9 wide receiver in the country. Georgia currently has 19 commitments in the class of 2026 including three wide receiver commitments. Spafford, three-star Brady Marchese and three-star Ryan Mosley are all committed to the Dawgs. Spafford is Georgia's highest ranked receiver commitment, but that could change very soon. Miami has the No. 8 recruiting class in the country. The Hurricanes are no strangers to getting into recruiting battles with coach Kirby Smart and Georgia. Miami beat Georgia out for five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell a few weeks ago and signed Georgia transfer quarterback Carson Beck in January. Georgia has the nation's No. 4 recruiting class. The Miami Hurricanes have gained a commitment from four-star wide receiver recruit Vance Spafford. Miami flipped Spafford from the Georgia Bulldogs in the Hurricanes' latest recruiting win over Georgia. Spafford plays high school football for Mission Viejo High School in California. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound wide receiver is the No. 74 recruit in the class of 2026. Advertisement The four-star was Georgia's top ranked wide receiver commitment. His decision drops Georgia to the fifth-best (from the fourth-best) recruiting class in the country. Miami now has the seventh-best recruiting class in the 2026 cycle. Following Spafford's decommitment, Georgia has just two wide receiver commitments. The Bulldogs have verbal pledges three-star Brady Marchese and three-star Ryan Mosley in the class of 2026. Coach Kirby Smart and company will be looking to add at least one or two more receiver commitments ahead of signing day. Miami Hurricanes wide receiver Jacolby George makes a catch Miami and Georgia have been locked in several heated recruiting battles recently. Both schools are contenders for five-star athlete Derrek Cooper. Spafford is one of the best slot receivers in the nation and the No. 10 recruit in California. Georgia Lands Highly Touted Playmaker Amid Hot Streak

Georgia Lands Highly Touted Playmaker Amid Hot Streak originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It didn't take long for the Georgia Bulldogs to fill a recruiting hole left by four-star receiver Vance Spafford. Advertisement On3's Chad Simmons reported Thursday that fellow four-star receiver Craig Dandridge committed to the Bulldogs. The wideout chose Georgia over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Oklahoma Sooners and Tennessee Volunteers. 'It is about the program Georgia is. What they do for their players on and off the field is great, and I see Georgia having the best of both worlds," Dandridge told On3." "They offer great support in whatever you need to help you become a better person or player. The coaching is great for on the field, and they will help prepare you for the NFL or to be a businessman. "They have a great plan for both football and life after football.' Georgia Bulldogs football head coach Kirby Smart© Dale Zanine-Imagn Images It would have been surprising if Dandridge chose a school other than Georgia. The Bulldogs were the front-runners for the four-star receiver throughout his recruitment process. Advertisement But it's still a recruiting win Georgia should celebrate. Dandridge became the fourth recruit to commit to the Bulldogs this week. In addition to the receiver, four-star prospects Jae Lamar, Khamari Brooks and Shadarius Toodle, along with three-star defensive lineman Corey Howard, have pledged to Georgia since June 22. The 247Sports Composite rankings rated Dandridge the No. 38 wide receiver and 26th Georgia prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. Dandridge is also the No. 237 overall recruit in the class. Behind the hot streak this week, Georgia has moved up the 247Sports class rankings for 2026. The Bulldogs' class now sits at No. 3 behind only the USC Trojans and Texas A&M Aggies. What's next for Georgia WR recruiting after Vance Spafford's decommitment

The Miami Hurricanes have gained a commitment from four-star wide receiver recruit Vance Spafford at the expense of the Georgia Bulldogs. Miami flipped Spafford from UGA in the Hurricanes' latest recruiting win over Georgia. Spafford plays high school football for Mission Viejo High School in California. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound wide receiver is the No. 74 recruit in the class of 2026. He was Georgia's highest ranked receiver commitment. Now the question is being asked: what is next for Georgia football at the wide receiver position after Spafford's decommitment? Four-star receiver Craig Dandridge is ranked as the No. 237 recruit in the nation, the No. 38 wide receiver and the No. 26 prospect in Georgia. He is announcing his commitment on his 18th birthday, which is June 26. He is deciding among Georgia, Oklahoma, Stanford, Tennessee, Georgia Tech and Florida. The elite receiver is projected to commit to Georgia, so he is likely Georgia's replacement for Spafford. However, Georgia usually signs at least four receivers, so the Bulldogs could add another talented pass catcher in the class of 2026 before early signing day. Dandridge plays high school football for Cambridge High School in Milton, Georgia. He is coming off an outstanding junior season, where he accumulated 58 receptions for 1,443 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound receiver is a great route runner and generates a lot separation. Follow UGAWire on Instagram or Threads for more Georgia Bulldogs coverage!

Georgia Bounces Back With Good News on Highly Touted Star

Georgia Bounces Back With Good News on Highly Touted Star originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Georgia Bulldogs lost a verbal commit from a playmaker to begin this week. But shortly after, they gained a commit on defense. Advertisement While the Bulldogs lost highly touted wide receiver Vance Spafford to Miami, they gained defensive linebacker Khamari Brooks. On3's Chad Simmons reported Monday four-star edge rusher Khamari Brooks has pledged to Georgia instead of the Alabama Crimson Tide. "Brooks is a Georgia legacy who lives 15 minutes from Athens," Simmons posted on X. "[Coach] Kirby Smart and company kept him home." Brooks told Simmons the program welcomed him and his entire family during all of his visits. That played a role in his decision. But so did the program's future plans for him. "With Georgia, it is about how they use guys at my position," Simmons wrote. "How [linebackers] coach [Chidera Uzo-]Diribe coaches is a lot like my high school, and how he uses the outside linebackers/EDGE is similar to what he [does] now, but at a higher level against better athletes.' Jones / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Brooks will be the third member of his extended family to play football at Georgia. Advertisement "I have a lot of history with Georgia," Brooks told Rivals. "One of my uncles was among the first five [Black] players in program history, and my stepgrandad played there." Based on the 247Sports Composite rankings, Brooks is a top 15 edge rusher and Georgia prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. Overall, he is ranked the No. 112 recruit in the class. The Bulldogs landed Brooks the same day the program saw four-star player Spafford flip to the Miami Hurricanes. Georgia still has two receiver commitments in the 2026 class, but Spafford is more highly rated than either of them.
