Drake brings out R&B stars, U.K. rappers and an unlikely singer-songwriter at London shows

Drake rounded up the cavalry this weekend for his U.K. performances, which featured R&B stars, British rappers — and U.S. singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton, for some reason. The Toronto rapper is headlining the Wireless Festival in London all weekend and kicked it off with a celebration of R&B Friday night, bringing out the reclusive Lauryn Hill, Mississauga native PARTYNEXTDOOR and contemporary R&B powerhouses Bryson Tiller, Giveon, Mario and Bobby Valentino.

Wireless fans say it's 'not for weak' as 'packed like sardines' reality shown

Wireless Festival returned for its 20th year with Canadian rapper Drake headlining all three days of the event at Finsbury Park, London, but one festival-goer has shared the claustrophobic reality A Wireless festival-goer has declared the event 'isn't for the weak' after footage shows him in a tightly packed crowd and really struggling to move. The popular festival returned for the 20th year, taking over Finsbury Park in London. For the first time, Wireless had one artist performing three set lists across the three days, seeing Canadian rapper Drake take to the stage on Friday, July 11, Saturday, July 12 and the final day of the hip hop festival, Sunday, July 13. The artist has been accompanied by an eclectic mix of special guests including Vanessa Carlton, Yeat, Central Cee and more. ‌ More than 15,000 people are said to descend on London over the course of the three day weekend to catch artists including Summer Walker, Leon Thomas, kwn, Sailorr, Boy Better Know, BigXthaPlug and many more. ‌ Festivals are known for being busy, bustling places with a large turnout of people keen to enjoy live music and the laidback atmosphere so commonly associated with such events. One festival-goer has offered a 'nightmare' insight into their experience in the crowd, though - and it's not for the faint of heart. In the claustrophobic clip, which was shared to TikTok, the Wireless fan can be seen standing in the crowd with other festival-goers closely packed around him. ‌ He doesn't appear to have much room to move, as he extends one arm to record the moment while his other appears to be pinned to his side by his co-attendees. Fellow ticket holders also look as though they can't move, as the crowd sways and throbs as one. Over the top of the footage, he penned: 'POV: you survived eight hours on your feet in 30°C heat, packed like sardines, getting shoved around whilst holding your bladder in'. ‌ In the caption, he added: 'Wireless ain't for the weak'. In the comments section, people shared their thoughts with the general consensus being that of dread over being in similar circumstances. One person said: 'The heat, the BO, everyone's sweat on me, yeah hell NO' while another simply declared: 'Couldn't pay me to go'. ‌ A third said: 'This is an actual nightmare, you'll never catch me in these places'. Someone else commented: 'Personal hell [crying laughing emoji] sat at home and saved all the videos so I was basically there lmao'. Another shared: 'I no longer feel jealous that I wasn't there'. Echoing such sentiments, another person said: 'This is my worst nightmare. I'd have to leave due to being over stimulated and wanting to fight everyone'. ‌ One Wireless attendee shared: 'I literally felt like I was gonna pass out at one point, I had to move out of the crowd'. ‌ And another festival-goer pondered: '[I don't know] how you guys did this, I was sat under a tree for half the day and still fought for my life'. To which, the original poster replied: 'I don't even know how I [filmed] it, Wireless taught [me] resilience and strength'. Another added: 'Like this is the part they don't be showing cos festivals are not for the weak'. Wireless festival shared advice regarding the heat ahead of the festival. They said: "Stay hydrated. Wear suitable clothing for the hot weather - hat, sunglasses. Wear sunscreen - bottles of sunscreen up to 200ml are permitted. Sunscreen will also be available at medical and info points. Sealed water and soft drinks up to 500ml are permitted, one per person. Bring an empty plastic refillable bottle or coffee cup. Waterpoints will be available around the site. Metal bottles are not permitted into the festival." Wireless Festival has been approached for a comment.

Jefferson Starship talent agency co-founder among 6 killed in San Diego plane crash

The co-founder of the prominent music talent agency Sound Talent Group was one of six people killed when a small plane crashed in a San Diego neighborhood, the company confirmed. The crash occurred when the 1985 Cessna 550 Citation struck power lines in dense fog before plummeting into a residential area early Thursday, May 22, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The impact ignited a massive fire that destroyed several homes and damaged vehicles. Dave Shapiro, 42, was traveling with two employees from his agency, which represents artists including singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton, Canadian punk-pop band Sum 41 and San Francisco psychedelic rock group Jefferson Starship. 'We are devastated by the loss of our co-founder, colleagues, and friends,' Sound Talent Group said in a statement Thursday. 'Our hearts go out to their families and to everyone impacted by today's tragedy.' The agency also represents the grunge act Bush, whose frontman, Gavin Rossdale, is scheduled to appear at BottleRock Napa Valley this weekend. Authorities were still combing the crash site and recovering the bodies Thursday evening, but there were no known survivors. The FAA confirmed that six people were on board the plane. 'No words. We owe you everything. Love you forever,' the band wrote on its Instagram page. A representative for the band referred to its social media post when asked about Williams' death by the Associated Press. Elliot Simpson, an investigator with the National Transportation Safety Board, said the crash occurred around 3:45 a.m. and scattered debris across several blocks in Murphy Canyon, a neighborhood of Navy-owned housing. He added that parts of the plane were found under power lines and on a road behind the homes. Jet fuel spilled into the streets, sparking at least six vehicle fires. 'I can't quite put words to describe what the scene looks like, but with the jet fuel going down the street, and everything on fire all at once, it was pretty horrific to see,' San Diego Police Chief Scott Wahl said at a media briefing. The plane, which originated from Teterboro, N.J., was trying to land at Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport when the crash occurred. The accident left significant damage to homes, with one completely destroyed and others suffering extensive fire and structural damage, police said. At least 100 residents were evacuated as firefighters worked to contain the flames and secure the area.

San Diego plane crash kills six, jet fuel blaze injures eight residents

A private jet carrying six people, including American music talent agent Dave Shapiro, crashed into a residential neighbourhood in San Diego early Thursday (local time), killing all those on board. The crash occurred in Murphy Canyon, a housing area for US Navy personnel, and ignited a fire that destroyed homes and injured at least eight local residents, Associated Press reported. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that six people were on board the 1985 Cessna 550 Citation. Though the death toll has yet to be officially confirmed, authorities believe there were no survivors. The aircraft hit a power line in dense fog before crashing into a home, sparking a large blaze. Jet fuel spilled into the streets, setting several vehicles on fire. Residents injured, homes gutted in Murphy Canyon The house that bore the brunt of the crash was completely destroyed, while nearly a dozen surrounding homes were damaged by flames or flying debris. More than 100 residents were evacuated as emergency responders battled the fire amid poor visibility. No deaths were reported among the residents, but eight people were hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries, mostly from smoke inhalation or minor trauma. Debris from the aircraft was scattered across the neighbourhood, with pieces of the wing and fuselage found on roads and in nearby gardens. Jet fuel continued to seep into the streets for several hours, raising environmental concerns and delaying access for residents hoping to return. Dave Shapiro among the deceased Among the six killed was Dave Shapiro, co-founder of Sound Talent Group, a Los Angeles-based music agency known for managing artists such as Sum 41, Hanson and Vanessa Carlton. Shapiro also ran the label Velocity Records. According to reports, two other Sound Talent Group employees were also aboard the flight. What caused the crash? NTSB to investigate The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of USA has launched an investigation into the incident. Initial reports suggest that poor visibility due to dense fog may have contributed to the crash. Officials said the aircraft was flying under instrument flight rules, which require visual contact with the runway during final approach — a condition that may not have been met. The aircraft had departed from Teterboro, New Jersey, stopped in Wichita, Kansas, to refuel, and was approaching San Diego when it clipped a power line roughly 3.2 kilometres from the airport.

Ugg slippers that'll keep your tootsies warm and cozy. Sure, these are slippers, but they're also waterproof if you decide to wear them out and about. My last pair lasted 2 years and I wear them every day, all year long. I wear a 7 1/2 and got an 8, they fit perfect." — Anonymous 2. New Balance Classics 237 because they have the best of both worlds: comfort and style. Chef's kiss! Zappos Promising review:"Love these shoes. Dr. Martens Chelsea boots that'll never go out of style. These have side elastic so you can easily slip them on, making your life ever-so-slightly easier. Now that's priceless! Zappos Promising review:"Love these, my first pair of docs! I hope they hold up for a long time. Do not be afraid of how tall these shoes are, it is just right in person! Not much time past for them to break in, the leather is good, on one shoe I can see real nice grain texture(They aren't the type of shoe that looks practically like plastic). I am considering putting an insole in them just to make them that much comfier." — Anonymous 4. Hoka sneakers so you can walk a thousand miles and make Vanessa Carlton proud. Zappos Promising review:"The fit is excellent! I've had a hard time finding shoes my size in wide. These have plenty of room and don't make my feet feel cramped. There is enough cushioning to feel supportive but not overwhelming. My feet feel great in these!" — Anonymous 5. A pair of Sam Edelman stilettos because these come in more colors than there are days in a month. You'll absolutely find the perfect pair to go with that new dress you just got. There's a reason these have 34,000+ reviews and a 5-star rating! Zappos Promising review:"I wore Birkenstock sandals full time for 40 years. Then my right heel developed a bad case of plantar fasciitis and I found that ONLY wearing Crocs helped! Now my heel doesn't hurt anymore, and the added bonus is that the Crocs are VERY easy to keep clean! I have to keep the heel strap behind my heel to keep them on." — Linda G Price: $35.98+ (originally $49.99; available in women's sizes 4–19, men's sizes 2–17, and 36 colors) 7. Birkenstock Arizona sandals because these will really, truly never ever go out of style. They're made to last, so good luck wearing them out! Zappos Promising review:"I was a little hesitant to buy the Birkibuc because it has a man-made upper rather than a leather one. I am pleasantly surprised with the quality of the material. I would definitely order the Birkibuc again. In fact, it's hard to tell they are not leather unless I place them side by side with my leather Birkenstocks. The footbed and the sole are the same as regular Birkenstocks. As usual, Zappos sent them to me with lightening speed." — Anonymous 9. Cole Haan loafers that'll make you want to do anything but ~loaf~ around. Zappos Promising review: "I was hesitant about getting a chunky loafer - worried that they would be too clunky or look like I was wearing my dad's shoes. I took a chance with these and am happy I did. They are stylish, classic and have a just right kind sole and heel. Elevated pennys but not so of the moment that they can't be worn for years. And they are so comfortable. I put them on right out of the box and wore them all day. Padding on the insole, no weird stiff places or blister making spots. Felt liked I'd already broken them in. Very happy with my purchase. Can't wait to to wear them with all sorts of outfits!" — Jeri 10. Toms Diana wedge sandals so you can walk a little taller once warmer temperatures roll into town. Zappos 11. Classic cowboy boots to give you that western vibe that's all the rage right now minus having to move to a literal farm. Zappos Promising review:"These boots are gorgeous. I am a huge Corral boot wearer, but was unable to find a pair that I liked this time around. I stumbled across these Dan Post boots, loved the way they looked, and decided to give them a try. I love them - much prettier in person and the leather is super soft - definitely recommend. Just FYI - I am typically a size 7 and bought a size 7. They fit as expected." — M. 12. Strappy wedge sandals for all those weddings you'll be attending this year. These will keep you comfy on the dance floor! Zappos Promising review:"These shoes are stylish and beautiful. The color is a very nice shade of tan. Length is good but if you are between half sizes, go up I already have them in black and platinum and always get compliments" — Adventure 13. Hoka recovery slides because sometimes you just need something to throw on and go. These no-fuss slides are so supportive, even podiatrists approve. Zappos Promising review:"These are about the most supportive and comfortable sandals (or footwear for that matter) that I have ever worn. The fit is perfect! I have some metatarsalgia in my feet and Osteo arthritis in my knees and these slides cushion and provide stability and support that I need. I use these mainly for at home and on the deck, patio." — Ellen 14. Metallic sneakers that'll put some pep in your step and sparkle in your outfit. Zappos Promising review:"Love these metallic sneakers! I read some reviews saying TTS, and others saying size up half a size. I am usually a 6 and sized up to a 6.5. They fit well, with some room at the toes. I definitely could have done a 6 and they would have been fine too. Hope that can help anyone on the fence!" — Anonymous 15. Vionic loafers Zappos Promising review:"Very soft leather, wore them all over Spain while on vacation. Good with light sock, very comfortable. No trouble with my plantar fasciitis." — Diane 17. Comfortable pumps because they come in four widths, pretty much guaranteeing you'll find the right fit, and wear these until the soles develop holes. Zappos Promising review:"This is the most money I have ever spent on a pair of shoes. I am difficult to fit - women's size 6.5 extra wide, and sometimes even the extra wides aren't wide enough for me. These are hands down the most comfortable heels I have ever worn. Hopefully they last a long time!" — Anonymous 18. Kate Spade New York sneakers to replace the formerly-white-now-grayish-brown sneakers currently taking up space in your closet. Zappos 19. Bow flats because everything is cuter with a bow. These Naturalizer D'Orsay flats have cushioning to give you all-day comfort. What's better than that? Zappos Promising review:"I traced my foot and measured it to make sure I purchased the correct width. The size guide was accurate and shoe fits perfectly!" — Nicole 20. Mesh rhinestone Mary Janes Zappos Promising review:"These shoes are super cute and unique. I enjoy the sparkle and being mesh they seem real summery. I wear an 8 in a sandal and an 8 1/2 in athletic shoes in most brands. I always take a 7M in a Sam Edelman shoe." — Diane 21. Clarks flip-flops because they have 3,000 reviews and a five-star rating. Reviewers love how sturdy these flip-flops are. Zappos Promising review:"I just got back from 7 days at Disney World, Universal and Sea World. Walked over 70 miles in 7 days, wore no other shoes other than my Clarks Sea Breeze and feet felt great entire time. Added bonus: it rained buckets and my feet dried quickly. Those in our group who wore sneakers had wet feet all day. Best flip flops ever. I am 64 y/old and can't believe I was able to walk that far in sandals. I will be ordering more in other colors for sure." — Anonymous 22. Timberland safety toe work sneakers that'll make sure your feet are protected and supported while you ~werk b**ch~. (But like in a nice way.) Zappos Promising review:"These are very comfortable and dont feel as bulky or heavy as the other safety shoes which for me is great standing on cement floors for 11 hour shifts 4 to 5 days a week and always on the go. Love them." — Shannon 23. Fisherman sandals to pack for your next vacation. These will go with everything in your suitcase and take you from adventure time to dinner time effortlessly. Zappos 24. Slip-on sneakers so you can easily slip them on and off if you need a hands-free shoe option. Zappos 25. Ankle boots with a side zipper for anybody who can't stand a battle to get their boots on and off. These look like a luxe pair of boots but most colors are less than $100! Zappos Promising review:"I have these in black and loved them, so I ordered the brown. They are a bit uncomfortable at first, but once they are "worn" a bit they fit great. I wore the black nearly every day all winter and they're in GREAT shape. Can't wait to add the brown to the rotation!" — Kari 26. Franco Sarto raffia sandals to make all your upcoming warm weather outfits look like a million bucks.
