Which month's the least expensive to get married in?
(NEXSTAR) — With the average wedding cost staying relatively in the same ballpark as it has been since before the pandemic, couples planning their big days have never needed to be more selective about things like venues and days of the week. While the average cost for a 2025 wedding is $33,000, as calculated by The Knot, couples may be able to fly under that number depending on a variety of factors — including which month of the year they choose. Costco recalls: Shoppers should stop using some items immediately Out of 12 months of the year, at least six of them, on average, show an average wedding cost higher than the national average, per data from The Knot. Weddings held in the months of May, July, October, September, June and February all average above $33,000 for the event. May is the most expensive month to have a wedding in (though not the most popular, which would be October), with an average cost of $33,900. The only month with an average wedding cost below $30,000 was January, based on 2024 data. The Knot explains that January weddings do still present some limitations (mostly related to weather), which accounts for the fact that only 2% of 2024 weddings happened in that month. No link found between aluminum in vaccines and autism: Study In addition to lower costs, another benefit of a January wedding, which many users in the Wedding planning subreddit and others like it is that because of the 'off season' nature of the month, more venues and vendors will likely be available. Another reason to be a fan of a January wedding? It's well-known that January can trigger 'post holiday blues,' and a wedding might be just the perfect way for you and your guests to beat the sadness. One Redditor commented, 'January can seem like such a long bleak comedown from Christmas that I'd say a lot of people would enjoy having an event to look forward to.' Naija Market brings vibrant African market experience to Winnipeg
Vendor stalls in Naija Market in The Forks is shown. (Daniel Timmerman/CTV News Winnipeg) A lively celebration of African culture returned to Winnipeg this weekend as Naija Market Day brought the sights, sounds, and tastes of a traditional African market to The Forks. Held Saturday at the CN Stage and Field, the event featured Afrobeat music, Nigerian and African food vendors, and a vibrant atmosphere reflecting markets commonly found across Africa. Originally launched in Winnipeg last year, Naija Market Day has since grown in popularity, expanding to cities across Canada, including Brandon, Edmonton, Calgary, and Brampton. 'We've gotten awards and recognitions from different provinces, and it's just amazing how people have missed our kind of markets and how they're really warming up to it,' said Abiodun Adetu, the event coordinator. Adetu emphasized the family-friendly nature of the event, describing it as more than just a marketplace. 'You see kids running around the market — they're playing, they're eating — they're doing all sorts. That's what we're trying to exemplify here: where everybody's having fun and coming together. You aren't just shopping, you're exchanging culture with us.' This year's Winnipeg market featured around 100 vendors and nearly 20 community organizations. Naija Market Day will next head to Brandon, where the event is scheduled to take place at Princess Park on Saturday, July 19.
