Springfield woman stabbed in Vermont, suspect charged with attempted murder
WATERBURY, VT. (WWLP) – A Worcester woman has been charged with attempted second-degree murder after stabbing a Springfield woman in Vermont on Monday. According to the Vermont State Police in a news release, troopers received a report of a stabbing incident at approximately 11:24 a.m. on Monday. The incident occurred at the Best Western in Waterbury. Springfield man charged with DUI, wrong-way driving in Enfield Troopers found through investigation that 31-year-old Courtney Muchugu of Worcester allegedly stabbed 23-year-old Arianis Morales of Springfield while involved in an altercation. Morales sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries as a result. Muchugu was arrested and charged with attempted 2nd degree murder and aggravated assault. She was ordered to be held without bail at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility in South Burlington pending arraignment, which was scheduled for Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. Details regarding the arraignment have not been made public at this time. Vermont State Police say that there are no threats to the community as a result of the incident. Police investigate Lyndon barn fire as possible arson
LYNDON, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – Authorities suspect a fire that burned a Lyndon barn to the ground early Saturday may have been intentionally set. Lyndon firefighters arrived just before 6:30 a.m. to find a barn at Greenpoint Lane and Grimes Road so consumed by fire that they made no attempt to put it out, they told Vermont State Police. The state's Public Safety Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit was called to the scene. Troopers say the fire is considered 'suspicious at this time' and the investigation will continue. The barn was used as storage space at the time and did not house any livestock. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sgt. James Wright at the state police's St. Johnsbury Barracks at 802-748-3111, leave an anonymous tip online at or contact the Vermont Arson Tip Award Program hotline at 1-800-32-ARSON (1-800-322-7766). Vermont Route 117 open after two-vehicle crash in Richmond
RICHMOND, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – Vermont State Police said Friday afternoon that, as of 4:10 p.m., Vermont Route 117 is completely closed at Governor Peck Road in Richmond, very close to U.S. Route 2 and Interstate 89, due to a two-vehicle crash. As of 4:28 p.m, the crash is cleared and the road is open again. Air quality alert issued June 6 due to Canadian wildfires Tow trucks were needed to clear the road, and motorists were advised to take alternate routes during the closure. Police arrest St. Johnsbury shooting suspect
BERLIN, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – The Berlin Police Department arrested the suspect in a May 6 shooting that took place on Concord Avenue in St. Johnsbury. Vermont State Police announced Wednesday that they had obtained an arrest warrant for Ladjuan Anthony Guichard, 27, in connection with the shooting of 30-year-old Adam Belliveau, and told the public that they should consider him 'armed and dangerous'. Police officers then received a tip from a caller that Guichard was in a rental car on the Barre-Montpelier Road/U.S. Route 302. Police stopped the car on the road in Berlin and arrested Guichard and a companion, Kayla Keithan, 27, of St. Johnsbury. She was charged with being an accessory after the fact and will be arraigned Monday. Guichard was jailed without bail at the Northeast Regional Correction Facility and is due for arraignment on Friday.
