Hero MotoCorp Vida VX2 Launch, Affordable Electric Scooter, Flexible Battery Plans

Hero MotoCorp will launch a new electric scooter called Vida VX2 on July 1 in India. It will be a low-cost scooter, priced around ₹90,000. It will compete with other scooters like Ola S1 Air and TVS iQube. Buyers can choose a plan to pay for the battery separately every month or by how much they use it. This can lower the scooter price to about ₹70,000. The scooter looks like the Vida Z design shown before and is similar to the Vida V2 model but with some new style changes. It will have bright LED lights, a clear screen to show information, and a flat seat. The basic model may not have a disc brake, but the higher model will have one. The Vida VX2 is made to be an affordable and easy scooter for city travel.

Vida VX2 to launch on July 1, likely to be the brand's most affordable e-scooter

Hero MotoCorp's electric-only two-wheeler sub-brand Vida is all set to launch its next major product in the Indian market on July 1. Christened as Vida VX2, this is going to be the most affordable electric scooter from the homegrown brand. Upon arrival, it will compete with rivals such as Ola S1 Air, TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak among others. Over the last few years, several electric two-wheeler brands have launched high-speed electric scooters in the sub-one-lakh pricing category, in an attempt to grab a larger chunk of the market pie that has been bulging fast. These electric scooters were launched as affordable and practical electric scooters meant for daily commuting in and around the cities. Hero MotoCorp is aiming to walk the same path with the Vida VX2. Expect the Vida VX2 to be priced aggressively at around ₹ 90,000 (ex-showroom). Interestingly, Vida will offer a BaaS scheme with the VX2 electric scooter, which will allow consumers to buy the scooter without paying the full price for the battery. Under this scheme, the owners will be able to opt for a monthly rental plan or a kilometre-based subscription plan. With this move, the VX2 may become more affordable, as with this BaaS scheme, the upcoming Vida electric scooter is likely to be priced at around ₹ 70,000 (ex-showroom). The Vida VX2 electric scooter will come with a design influenced by the Vida Z concept that was showcased at EICMA. The VX2 will share its architecture with the V2. It will have some design elements that are borrowed from the Vida V2, but there will be some distinctive styling elements as well. Expect it to get LED headlamps, LED DRL, LED indicator and LED taillights. Also, there would be a TFT display at the instrument cluster, a single flat seat among others. As compared to Vida V2, the EV will come with some cost-cutting measures. Expect the base trim of the VX2 to come sans any disc brake, but the top trim would get a front disc brake.

Hero Vida VX2 electric scooter teased ahead of launch: Here's what all to expect

Hero MotoCorp's electric mobility arm, Vida, is all set to unveil its newest electric scooter, the VX2, in India on 1 July, reported HT AutO. With growing interest in budget-friendly electric two-wheelers, the VX2 reportedly aims to strengthen Vida's position in the entry-level EV segment, competing directly with base models of the Bajaj Chetak 2901 and TVS iQube. As per the publication, the company recently released a teaser video across its social media platforms, offering a glimpse of the scooter's silhouette and select design elements. Notably, the teaser confirms that the VX2 will feature drum brakes at both the front and rear, suggesting a clear move towards cost-effective engineering. Reportedly, the absence of disc brakes—even on the top-spec variant—indicates that Vida is targeting a more accessible price point for Indian consumers. Designed to be more affordable than the brand's existing offerings, the VX2 is expected to be a reworked version of the Vida Z, built on the same modular V2 platform. While it may share several structural components with its premium counterparts, the VX2 will undergo several cost-cutting measures. These include the use of a traditional physical key, a downsized TFT instrument cluster, and a reduced feature set. The teaser reveals a new square LED headlamp design and a striking red paint scheme, giving the VX2 a distinct visual identity despite its budget orientation. A smaller battery pack is likely, in line with its positioning as an entry-level model. In a notable move, Vida will offer the VX2 with a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option. This scheme allows users to pay based on kilometres travelled, providing a flexible and potentially more affordable ownership experience—particularly beneficial for urban commuters and short-distance riders. As the electric two-wheeler market in India becomes increasingly competitive, the launch of the Vida VX2 signals Hero MotoCorp's intent to capture a larger share of the mass-market EV segment, following the footsteps of rivals like Ola Electric and Ather Energy. More details, including pricing and exact specifications, are expected to be revealed at the official launch on 1 July.

Notify me VIDA, the electric two-wheeler manufacturer, is all set to roll out a new Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model starting July 1, 2025. This move is aimed at changing the way customers buy and use electric two-wheelers by offering a subscription-based battery plan. The brand has also been teasing its upcoming electric two-wheeler over social media, which also, will avail benefits from the new service.
