Buxar tops in Bihar Vikas Mission ranking

Buxar: In the latest rankings released by the Bihar Vikas Mission for May 2025, Buxar district secured the first position with an impressive score of 85.32 points. The rankings are based on performance in the key schemes identified under the Saat Nishchay and Saat-Nishchay-2 initiatives of the Bihar govt. The rankings are derived from comprehensive monitoring of multiple schemes under both phases of the initiative. Govt grants approval for 2 irrigation projects in Buxar

Buxar: State govt granted approval for construction of the long-awaited Malai Baraj project, along with the Uddah irrigation yojana. The project worth Rs 204.95 crore had been a key electoral issue for the past three decades. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now District magistrate (DM) Vidyanand Singh on Thursday received detailed updates of the project. Executive engineer of irrigation division, Navanagar, Arunjay Kumar, said the tender process has been completed, and the technical approval forwarded to the department concerned. As per the plan, water would be lifted from the Kao river and stored in the Bhojpur canal and Kesath-III distribution system. The project also includes extensive earth removal work. The DM asked the officials to complete all phases of the Malai Baraj project within the stipulated time frame. The Malai Baraj project holds importance for local farmers under the Sone canal irrigation system. Due to the positioning of the final outlets at Kesath-III and Bhojpur distribution points, irrigation water failed to reach the tail-end regions. Farmers in Chaugai, Brahmapur, Kesath, and Navanagar blocks of the district have long faced water scarcity during peak irrigation periods. The implementation of the project is expected to benefit farmers of Chaugai, Brahmapur, Dumraon, Kesath and Navanagar blocks, said the DM.
