Kapil Sharma Opens New Cafe In Canada - A Look Inside The Cafe And Its Menu
In the heart of Surrey, British Columbia, home to one of the South Asian communities in Canada, comedian Kapil Sharma and his wife Ginni Chatrath have started a new venture called Kap's Cafe. The pastel-toned eatery was officially soft-launched over the weekend and has already become a recognisable spot for locals and visiting fans alike. The menu has been designed to offer a cultural mix of the familiar and the trendy. Guests can order a traditional gur wali chai or choose from modern cafe staples like matcha lattes and vanilla cold brews. Display counters show a mix of treats: lemon pistachio cake, rich fudgy brownies, croissants, and a selection of cookies loaded with nuts and cranberries. Among the current menu stars are lemon pistachio cake, classic croissants, chocolate brownies, and a selection of aromatically brewed coffees. The interiors are decked out in soft blush pinks and creamy whites. A floral archway greets visitors at the entrance, leading them into a space filled with plush baby-pink velvet chairs, crystal chandeliers, gold-accented tables, and decorative floral touches. Vikram Vij, one of the earliest pioneers of upscale Indian dining in Canada, continues to operate his flagship restaurant Vij's in Vancouver. In Ontario, celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor maintains multiple outlets of his fine-dining brand Khazana, with active locations in Toronto, Brampton, and Milton. Toronto-based restaurateur Hemant Bhagwani has a growing list of ventures including Goa Indian Farm Kitchen, Bar Goa, and the upcoming Oro, which is set to open later this year.

Meghan Markle Had the Same Specific Pregnancy Craving With Both Lilibet and Archie
While most pregnant women are eating pints of Ben & Jerry's ice cream and jars of pickles (or both, combined) up until their due dates, Meghan Markle's craving when she was pregnant apparently looked a little different than the norm. Over the weekend, the Duchess of Sussex and her husband, Prince Harry, had a double date night with singer Michael Bublé and his wife, Luisana Lopilato, at Vij's, an Indian restaurant in Vancouver. And it was there that Markle shared her former pregnancy craving that wasn't your stereotypical choice with the owner and head chef, Vikram Vij. 'Meghan said that during her pregnancy, she had eaten only Indian food and I told her it was the best thing for her," Vij shared with Hello!, adding that the Sussexes "are amazing, extremely beautiful, and very friendly." Meghan and Harry have two children together—a son, Archie, 5, and a daughter, Lilibet, 3. Markle and Harry are currently in Canada for the 2025 Invictus Games and left the kids at home. As for why they didn't bring Archie and Lilibet along for the big event, royal editor Emily Nash offered her opinion during a conversation with ITV royal journalist Lizzie Robinson on Hello! Magazine's A Right Royal podcast. "Given the fact that the children are able to live a much more private life than their example, because their roles are different," Nash explained. "I don't see why they would put them in that arena at this point." Robinson added, "They have sort of kept the children incredibly private. I know we saw snippets of them in the Netflix docuseries, but really, the children have lived an incredibly private life." Markle previously hinted that Archie and Lilibet wouldn't be present at this year's Invictus Games during an impromptu speech at the Family and Friends reception that took place ahead of the opening ceremony. "It is my entire pleasure and complete honor to introduce to the stage my husband, the father of our very sweet, excited children who are cheering you on from California, Prince Harry, founder of the Invictus Games, the Duke of Sussex," she said. Exclusive: Inside Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's double date at royal favourite Vancouver restaurant
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex enjoyed an intimate dinner with close friend Michael Buble and his wife Luisana on Saturday February 8, after celebrating the opening of the 2025 Invictus Games. The pair were joined by Michael and three friends at Vij's, an Indian restaurant south of downtown Vancouver, where they visited in 2024, and where Prince William and Princess Kate have also dined. "They are amazing, extremely beautiful, and very friendly," Vikram Vij, the owner and head chef told HELLO! "Meghan is awesome and loved all the food. She remembered the chilis from last time, and I was totally impressed because she knew bhindi is the hindi word for okra." Prince Harry had the lamb popsicles - a rack of lamb with fresh mint - and after dinner they visited the kitchen where they had were "gracious and grateful". "They ate a lot," said Vikram, sharing that they also had his favorite snack, a schnitzel with butter chicken sauce, and that Meghan was surprised to learn about their pasta dish, cooked with prawns and coconut milk curry sauce. Vancouver received a lot of snow fall this last week, and Vikram shared that the parking lot "was covered in snow and I was holding Meghan's hand as I didnt want her to slip, I was so worried she would slip!" Prince Harry "was wearing fancy shoes, and I said, "Do you want me to hold your hand?"" The Montecito locals have been friends with Vancouver-born Michael and his wife Luisana for several years, with the famous Canadian singer also joining them at a curling event in 2024 at Hillcrest Community Centre. Day one of the Invictus Games kicked off with an incredible opening ceremony that saw Harry and Meghan on their feet dancing. The two exchanged a series of loving looks throughout the event at BC Place in Vancouver as they enjoyed performances from Coldplay's Chris Martin, Katy Perry and Nelly Furtado inside the packed BC Place Stadium. The Invictus Games is an international multi-sport event for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women, both serving and veterans. The inaugural event was held in London, followed by Orlando two years later, Toronto in 2017, Sydney in 2018, The Hague in 2022 and Dusseldorf in 2023. Video from inside the opening ceremony showed many of the competitors from the 23 nations becoming emotional as Harry spoke of their courage and spirit. "Over the past decade I've lost count of the times we've heard you tell us that the Invictus Games saved you. Respectfully, I disagree. Invictus didn't save you. You saved yourself," he said. "It was you, who pushed through the doubt and despair. You, who summited your own mountain and brought us along with you. It was you who kept going even when you didn't think you had any more to give. We didn't do that. You did." After the ceremony Harry and Meghan watched NHL team the Canucks play the Maple Leafs; Harry dropped the puck alongside two members of the Canadian Invictus team, Lee Jarratt and Andre Crocker, and Canucks Sports & Entertainment Chairman Francesco Aquilini.
