Cops arrest 4 youths for attempting to kill student

Pune: The Pimpri police on Monday arrested four youths on the charge of attempting to kill an 18-year-old student with sharp weapons over an old dispute. The incident occurred on Sunday in Pimpri. The victim suffered injuries to his hands and is undergoing treatment. Inspector Vijayanand Patil of the Pimpri police said the victim and the arrested youths had an old dispute. On Sunday, around 10pm, the victim and his two friends were out for a bike ride when the accused blocked their way and started abusing the victim. "They took out sharp weapons and threatened the student's friends with death if they intervened," He said. "To save himself, the victim ran away and took shelter in a bar. The youths followed him and ransacked the bar and assaulted the victim," he said. The youths were charged under section 109, 118, 332, 126, 190, 191 the BNS and relevant sections of the Indian Arms Act. They were remanded to police custody until July 3 by the court.
