1 2 Varanasi: As part of Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan 2025, Union minister of state for agriculture and farmers welfare, Ramnath Thakur, participated in a farmers' dialogue programme organised by the Indian Institute of Vegetable Research (IIVR) at Paniyara village on Wednesday. During the farmer dialogue, the minister emphasised that scientists should conduct research keeping farmer welfare in mind. He added that farmers trust scientists' advice and scientists are working hard to develop new technologies for farmers through dedicated research. Need is to reach the technologies to farmers and motivate them to adopt them. He also urged scientists to develop new heat-tolerant varieties. The minister inspected products displayed by FPOs and farmers at an exhibition in which prominent institutions such as IIVR, Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and Renew Power took part in the programme that was attended by Sanjay Kumar, director of National Seed Research Institute, distinguished progressive farmer Padma Shri Chandreshkhar, village head, regional public representatives, Naveen Singh, in charge of Krishi Vigyan Kendra and senior officials from state agriculture department. The minister also inspected the paddy field demonstration of the direct seeded rice method implemented by IRRI at farmer Lallan Dubey's field in Paniyara village. DSR is a sustainable scientific method that helps save water in paddy fields while increasing production and reducing costs. The minister honoured five selected farmers and provided Digital Soil Health Cards to 10 farmers to help them get instant information about soil quality. At IIVR campus's 'agricultural waste management unit', Thakur planted a sandalwood sapling as part of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign. Dr Sanjay Kumar Singh, deputy director general (horticulture), ICAR, also planted a tree alongside. During dialogue with progressive farmers and FPOs, the minister gathered information about IIVR's role in the nationwide Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan. Director Rajesh Kumar said that under IIVR's leadership, in coordination with KVKs and state govt's agriculture department, scientists completed dialogue with over 52,000 farmers across six districts in 13 days, which continues unabated. The director also briefed the minister about farmers' problems gathered from scientists. Major issues addressed included crop damage from nilgai, water crisis, pest management, lack of market access and non-availability of quality seeds. The minister directed quick solutions to these problems.

Varanasi: The Minister of State for Agriculture, Baldev Singh Aulakh, addressed the farmers during the 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan 2025' and called upon them to carry out agricultural activities on time using advanced seeds. A rally was also organised on the occasion by approximately 2,000 farmers using tractors to raise awareness among farmers. Speaking at the programme held at National Inter College in Pindra block on Thursday, Singh urged farmers to install solar pumps on subsidies, use fertilisers based on soil testing, and perform timely agricultural activities using advanced seeds. He also directed agriculture department officials to ensure farmers receive high-quality seeds, fertilisers, and agricultural protection chemicals. He said that continuous monitoring of private sellers should be conducted, and strict action should be taken against those selling adulterated or substandard chemicals or fertilisers, so that farmers can achieve high production at low cost and increase their income. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA of Pindra, Awadhesh Singh, congratulated the soldiers on behalf of the farmers through a tractor rally for the successful completion of Operation Sindoor by the Indian Army. The president of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, N K Singh, and scientists from the Indian Institute of Vegetable Research provided farmers with technical information on how to reduce farming costs. Additionally, deputy agriculture director Amit Jaiswal provided detailed information on departmental schemes. The event was attended by assistant director of soil testing Rajesh Rai, fertiliser analyst Raj Kumar, agricultural science center scientists Rahul Singh and Pooja Singh, and IIVR scientist Ashutosh Rai. Bhaderwah (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 4 (ANI): The Department of Agriculture, Doda, organised a comprehensive farmer awareness programme at Bhalara Bhaderwah as part of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan 2025, where around 200 participating farmers discussed the latest technologies and different Agricultural schemes. The Director of Agriculture, Jammu, Arvinder Singh, was the chief guest on the occasion. This was organised in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to revitalise the agriculture sector. The initiative aims to empower farmers with knowledge, technology, and resources to boost productivity, ensure sustainable practices, and increase income. Sub Divisional Agricultural Officer Bhaderwah Aamir Rafiqi highlighted the government's long-term vision to make Indian agriculture globally competitive. The Prime Minister's vision for a developed India by 2047 cannot be achieved without transforming agriculture. This campaign is about creating awareness and driving real change on the ground. Director Agriculture, Jammu, Arvinder Singh, emphasised the importance of farmer-centric policies being implemented by the Government of India. He said, 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is not just a campaign but a mission to ensure the transformation of Indian agriculture through scientific interventions, smart resource utilisation, and access to direct benefits.' He urged farmers to proactively engage with the departments, adopt sustainable practices, and take advantage of the numerous schemes and subsidies made available under the leadership of the Prime Minister. Arvinder Singh added that 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan 2025 is an opportunity for farmers to directly interact with field experts and scientists to resolve their issues and upgrade their practices. He encouraged farmers to adopt organic and climate-resilient agriculture while taking full advantage of government-supported initiatives for irrigation, seeds, fertilisers, and crop insurance. During the programme, farmers shared significant challenges including irregular rainfall, water quality issues, soil health problems, market prices and availability of quality seeds. Scientists of Krishi Vighyan Kendra Doda provided detailed information on natural farming, integrated pest management, new varieties, soil health management, crop diversification, direct-seeded rice cultivation, summer ploughing, and government schemes. 'We usually hear about government schemes, but don't always understand how to apply for them. Today, officers helped us directly that personal guidance makes a big difference,' said a farmer, Sashi Kumar. 'This is the first time I've seen such detailed information about soil health and organic farming methods in one place,' said Ravi, a farmer from Bhaderwah. 'If these methods are adopted widely, we can definitely increase our yield and income,' he added. (ANI)

1 2 Lucknow: Union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday emphasized that India's growth is not possible without developed agriculture. He was addressing farmers at a Krishak-Vaigyanik Samvad (Farmer-Scientist Dialogue) held in Sururpur, Meerut as part of the ongoing Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan 2025. The minister said, "Agricultural development is the backbone of India's growth. We have directed 16,000 agricultural scientists to directly share their research and experiences with farmers, while also drawing insights from farmers' challenges to guide future research." He added that coordinated efforts by ministers, MPs, scientists, and the agriculture department across the country would not only boost production and farmer income, but also position India as a global food provider. Chouhan also instructed the scientists of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Modi Puram, and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Meerut, to empower farmers through such dialogues. In Shahjahanpur, local leaders and scientists interacted with farmers in Niyamatpur village. In Sultanpur, MLC Shailendra Pratap Singh and KVK experts discussed modern farming in Katawan village. In Varanasi, Dr Ramesh Maurya and officials spoke on PM-Kisan, registration, and new techniques in Bariyasanpur. In Lucknow, AK Singh and scientists discussed direct paddy sowing, crop insurance, and innovations in Karanpur village. By Sunday, the fourth day of the campaign, over 3.25 lakh farmers took part in events at more than 2,700 places across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh. To manage the campaign well, 38 officers have been assigned to visit two districts each on June 7 and 8.

IIVR scientists reach out to 2,000 farmers across 6 dists under ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan'

1 2 Varanasi: In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to revamp and energize the agriculture sector, the Indian Institute of Vegetable Research (IIVR) in Varanasi organised a comprehensive farmer awareness programme on Thursday as part of the 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan 2025'. According to the IIVR authorities, the programme reached 2,063 farmers across 33 villages in six districts of Uttar Pradesh. Over 50 scientists from the institute engaged in direct technical discussions with farmers through face-to-face interactions. The campaign was conducted in Varanasi, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Bhadohi and Kushinagar districts, with the highest participation of 462 farmers recorded in Kushinagar. In Varanasi district, 160 farmers from villages Pratappatti, Edilpur, Karaulli, and Daulatiya in Harahua and Sevapuri blocks participated in the programme. During the programme, farmers shared major challenges including Nilgai menace, irregular rainfall, water quality issues, soil health problems, market prices, high water table, urbanisation pressure, and availability of quality seeds. Scientists provided detailed information on natural farming, integrated pest management, new varieties, soil health management, crop diversification, direct seeded rice cultivation, summer ploughing, and govt schemes. IIVR director Rajesh Kumar, who was present at the Karaulli village programme in Varanasi, said, "This campaign is a significant initiative towards doubling farmers' income and promoting sustainable agriculture. Establishing direct dialogue with over 2,000 farmers today is extremely encouraging. Our responsibility is not limited to research alone, but extends to delivering scientific techniques to farmers and solving their problems. The positive response received from this campaign is highly inspiring for us." The institute has also announced regular follow-up programmes and establishment of demonstration plots. Lauding Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, a national campaign aimed at educating farmers about modern and sustainable agricultural technologies as well as practices, CM Yogi Adityanath had on Thursday said that this was the first time when agricultural scientist would come out of their labs and other big institutions to take stock of the agricultural land at the ground level and devise strategies to meet the challenges the farmers face. Speaking at the launch of the campaign, Yogi said that the initiative will prove to be a foundation of the 'Viksit Bharat Abhiyan' envisioned by PM Modi. He said that agriculture scientists, officials from the agriculture and the allied sectors and farmers would come together to wheel in measures for higher agricultural productivity and growth.
