ICA foils attempt to smuggle 60,000 e-vaporisers, related components in Malaysian lorry at Tuas Checkpoint, Singapore News
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officials intercepted a Malaysia-registered lorry at Tuas Checkpoint and found 60,000 e-vaporisers and related components concealed in the cabin. In a Facebook post uploaded by ICA on Tuesday (July 15), officers said they had directed the lorry for further checks on July 8, where they also uncovered heat sticks, which are heated not burnt. The case was referred to the Health Sciences Authority for further investigation. Meanwhile, in a vape-related incident, a man was found unresponsive while holding an e-cigarette on board an SMRT bus early this month. According to a STOMP witness, the man had been smoking the e-cigarette throughout the entire journey, which reportedly lasted from 5.30 pm to 6.10 pm on bus service 110 along the TPE. Noticing that something was amiss, another passenger reported the situation to the driver, who then stopped the bus. In a video posted on STOMP website, the driver can be seen checking the man's condition. Blood was visible under the seat, and the man's feet were twitching slightly as he held onto an e-cigarette with his eyes closed. SMRT Bus Deputy Managing Director Vincent Gay said that the remaining passengers were transferred to another bus to continue their journey, reported Shin Min Daily News. Responding to queries from AsiaOne, the Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed that a call for assistance was made at about 6.15 pm along TPE towards SLE. The person was later taken to Sengkang General Hospital. AsiaOne has reached out to SMRT for comment. It was also previously reported that over 17,900 individuals were caught for the possession and use of e-vaporisers from January 2024 to March 2025. Individuals found in possession of, or using, pods containing etomidate may face a maximum penalty of two years' imprisonment, a fine of up to $10,000, or both, under the Poisons Act. Singapore: 38-Year-Old Man Arrested for Throwing Glass Bottle at Bus on Orchard Road
In relation to an incident at Orchard Road over the weekend where a glass bottle was thrown at a moving bus, a 38-year-old man has been taken into custody by Singapore Police. According to the police, he was arrested on Tuesday, July 8, for allegedly participating in a case of rash acts that caused harm. On July 5, the police received a call for assistance along Orchard Road at approximately 6:50 pm. They said that initial investigations revealed that the man had allegedly thrown a glass bottle from a pedestrian walkway onto a bus window. The impact caused the window to shatter, injuring a 57-year-old female bus passenger. The police added that the suspect was arrested on Tuesday after his identity was established through follow-up investigations. "An 18-year-old teenager who was with the man is also assisting with the investigation," the police said, as reported by CNA. On Wednesday, July 9, the man will face charges of hurtful rash behavior. A rash act that causes harm can result in a fine of up to S$5,000 (US$3,902), a year in jail, or both. For the unversed, Vincent Gay, deputy managing director of SMRT Buses, had said that the female passenger was on board bus service 190, which was traveling along Orchard Road at approximately 6:45 pm on July 5. Following the incident, the bus captain brought the vehicle to a safe stop and checked on the passengers, he said, adding that those affected were safely transferred to another bus to continue their journeys. Several photos of the incident that went viral online showed the bus parked close to The Heeren. Pictures posted on the social media site Xiaohongshu revealed a huge hole in one of the bus's upper deck windows, while the remaining window panel is cracked. The police and the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) then said that the injured woman was taken conscious to Raffles Hospital.

A man was charged on July 9 with performing a rash act after he allegedly hurled a glass soju bottle at a bus window, causing facial injuries to a female passenger. Quztaza Kamarudin, 38, is accused of throwing the bottle from a pedestrian walkway while SMRT service 190 was in Orchard Road at around 6.40pm on July 5. The Singaporean's alleged act left a hole in the window of the double-decker bus. The bottle struck the 57-year-old passenger, who suffered multiple lacerations to her left cheek. She was conscious when she was taken to hospital. Deputy managing director of SMRT Buses Vincent Gay earlier said that after the incident, the driver of the bus stopped the vehicle and checked on its passengers. They were then transferred to another bus to resume their journey. In photos circulating online, the bus can be seen parked near The Heeren shopping mall. Images on social media platform Xiaohongshu show a gaping hole in the window on the upper deck of the bus, with cracks across the remaining glass. In a statement, the police said that officers from Tanglin Police Division arrested Quztaza on July 8. His case will be mentioned again in court on July 16. For performing a rash act, an offender can be jailed for up to a year, fined up to $5,000, or both.

SINGAPORE: A 38-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly throwing a glass bottle at a moving SMRT bus, causing a window to shatter and injuring a female passenger. Police said they received a call for assistance on 5 July 2025 at about 6.50pm along Orchard Road. Preliminary investigations found that the man allegedly threw the bottle from a pedestrian walkway at the passing bus. According to Lianhe Zaobao, the incident resulted in a 57-year-old passenger being injured when the upper-deck window shattered. She was conscious when taken to Raffles Hospital for treatment. The bus was travelling along Orchard Road past The Heeren shopping mall at the time of the incident, according to user '是cc啊' on social media platform Xiaohongshu. A hole reportedly appeared suddenly in the bus window, which was visibly cracked from the impact. Vincent Gay, Deputy Managing Director of SMRT Buses, confirmed the object was a bottle and the affected bus was operating on service 190. The driver stopped the bus to ensure commuter safety. Passengers were transferred to another bus to continue their journey. Tanglin Police Division officers identified and arrested the man on 8 July. An 18-year-old who was with him is assisting with investigations. The suspect is expected to be charged in court on 9 July with the offence of rash act causing hurt.
