Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's woke daughter Violet ditches designer bags for $20 handmade tote

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner 's firstborn child Violet Affleck appeared to be economizing when she surfaced in Los Angeles this week. The 19-year-old ' nepo baby ' went viral last year for delivering an impassioned speech last year to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors demanding a return to mask mandates in medical facilities and government buildings. But in spite of her own fame and her A-list Hollywood pedigree, Violent evidently forewent designer purses in favor of a budget option this week. She was carrying a handmade knit bag that seemed to have been made from the WADORN DIY crochet handbag making kit, available on Amazon for a mere $24.28. With a dull blue fabric flower stitched onto an off-white background, the purse served as an elegant complement to Violet's summery floral dress. Her latest outing comes after she was notably absent from a family outing involving not only both her parents but both her siblings Fin, 16, and Samuel, 13. Ben, Jennifer, Fin and Samuel were spotted earlier this week attending a Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park in the Argo director's home state of Massachusetts. Affleck was previously married to the 13 Going On 30 actress from 2005 until their divorce was finalized in 2018. However, the pair have maintained a positive co-parenting relationship. Ben kept it casual for the outing in a tan button up and additionally sported a green Boston Red Sox cap on top of his head. Jennifer also showed her support by wearing a short-sleeved shirt with red and white stripes - which are some of the team's colors. Her long locks were pulled back into a simple ponytail, preventing any loose strands from falling onto her face. The former couple sat in between their two children as they watched the Red Sox take on the Tampa Bay Rays. The family held lighthearted conversations during the family outing - and at one point, also appeared on a jumbotron inside the ballpark. Affleck was born in California, but relocated with his family to Massachusetts where they eventually settled in the city of Cambridge - which is just north west of the city of Boston. Despite their split, both Ben and Garner have maintained a positive relationship while raising their three children. Last month in June, the actress - who is currently dating John Miller - shared a Father's Day tribute to her ex-husband. At the time, she uploaded a rare throwback photo of the Gone Girl star as one of their children - who had been a newborn - rested on his chest. In text added below the sweet picture, Jennifer typed out: 'Happy Father's Day to 3 people's favorite landing spot.' The pair have also been spotted together on numerous occasions, such as when they reunited to pick up their son Samuel from the airport last month. Earlier in March, Affleck also made loving remarks towards Garner during an interview with GQ. He reflected on his divorce from Jennifer Lopez as well as his bond with Garner following their own split. 'I'm really lucky that I have a really good co-parent and partner in Jennifer Garner, the kids' mom, who's wonderful and great and we work together well,' Affleck told the outlet. He also discussed how both he and Garner have navigated through fame and stayed honest with their kids. 'We used to have a thing, my ex-wife and I, when they would see something on a supermarket stand,' Ben recalled. 'We would say, well, "You know this isn't always true because if it were, you would have 15 brothers or sisters or whatever the number of stories is where they said that your mom was pregnant."' Affleck added, 'I know what's going on in my life. And also, really more importantly, my kids know.' Around the same time, the former couple were also seen hugging as they celebrated their son's 13th birthday. However, Garner continues to move on with her romance with John Miller and it was reported in April that he is 'basically living' with the actress, a source told Us Weekly. Affleck received support from his ex-wife amid his split from Lopez and he notably spent the holidays with Garner and their children late last year. It was revealed earlier in January that both he and the On The Floor songstress settled their divorce - after she had filed in August 2024 on their second wedding anniversary. Lopez has been keeping busy and recently debuted six new songs at an exclusive listening party for 30 lucky fans this month - with one track seemingly referencing to her divorce from Ben. One of the songs that she showed fans was titled Wreckage Of You - and a guest in attendance by the name of Edgardo Luis Rivera opened up about the song while talking to Us Weekly. He said it is a 'pop ballad that she told us she cowrote and recorded two weeks ago. She said she was lying in bed after a long day of tour rehearsals when the idea of the song came to her.' Edgardo further expressed, 'She mentioned how last year was a very difficult time for her both personally and professionally. She had to cancel her tour and really focus on herself.' Another fan who had attended the listening party offered their thoughts on Wreckage Of Me. They said it is a 'very emotional, empowering song about walking away from a relationship and coming out a stronger person.' Lopez also played an additional five songs which were titled: Birthday, Free, Up All Night, Save Me Tonight and Regular. She also performed the revenge track as she kicked off her international summer tour Up All Night in Spain. In video footage of the singer as she took to the stage, Lopez opened up about the song while talking to the crowd. 'This is a song that is a new song that I want to sing for the first time tonight that came to me when I was up all night one night. Shall we sing this one for the people?' Some of the lyrics to Wreckage Of You included: 'The love I want, the love I need, it starts in me/Now I found my way here I'm gonna stay there. 'Thank you for the scars you left on my heart, was showing me that stars shine brighter in the dark/I won't fall apart because of who we are, but your broken parts.' Jennifer also belted out on stage: 'Because of you, I am stronger, wiser/Better than I've ever been.' The star additionally announced in May that she is set to return to Las Vegas for an upcoming residency also called Up All Night Live. She will take to the stage at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on select dates beginning from December 30 through March of next year.

Jennifer Garner reunites with Violet after clash over climate change

and her daughter Violet reunited Friday after their spat over climate change. The 53-year-old actress and her woke 19-year-old daughter recently clashed over the response to the LA wildfires. Evacuating to a luxury hotel in January, Violet later condemned the move as privileged response to the so-called climate crisis. The 19-year-old, whom Garner shares with ex-husband Ben Affleck, recently went viral for a Yale essay in which she detailed a heated argument with her mom, 53, during their stay at the hotel. According to a exclusive, Garner and Affleck were reportedly blindsided by the essay and had no idea Violet had written about the incident for her college paper. But on Friday night, the mother-daughter duo appeared to be working through the tension as they stepped out for dinner at celeb favorite A.O.C. in Brentwood. Dressed in a striped sweater and jeans, Garner looked deep in conversation with her daughter, who wore a red sweater and flowing maxiskirt. Of course, Violet faced a backlash for toting high-end accessories in the days following her climate change rant. In May, she was photographed carrying a vintage Chloe Marcie bucket bag - an item that typically resells for around $1,000. Just days earlier, the Yale freshman had also been spotted with a Marc Jacobs purse valued between $200 and $300. The sightings sparked criticism online, with some questioning whether her message about climate privilege aligned with her own designer tastes. The news comes after Violet stepped out with her Oscar-winning father as well as her younger brother Samuel, 13, to grab a lowkey lunch - and had draped the stylish bag over her arm. Affleck and Garner - whose divorce was finalized in 2018 - are also parents to child Fin, 16. Violet has been vocal about her advocacy for both climate change and public health and recently wrote an essay for her university's Global Health Review that was titled A Chronically Ill Earth: COVID Organizing as a Model Climate Response in Los Angeles. Jennifer Garner's chilly reunion with woke Violet after their hotel blowup over teen's privileged rant

Jennifer Garner looked noticeably stern as she reunited with daughter Violet on Friday—just weeks after the teen publicly aired their hotel room spat over climate change. The 19-year-old, whom Garner shares with ex-husband Ben Affleck, recently went viral for a Yale essay in which she detailed a heated argument with her mom, 53, during a January stay at a luxury hotel. The family had evacuated their Los Angeles home to escape the city's wildfire smoke—something Violet later criticized as a privileged response to the climate crisis. According to a exclusive, Garner and Affleck were reportedly blindsided by the essay and had no idea Violet had written about the incident for her college paper. But on Friday night, the mother-daughter duo appeared to be working through the tension as they stepped out for dinner at celeb-favorite A.O.C. in Brentwood. Dressed in a striped sweater and jeans, Garner looked deep in conversation with her daughter, who wore a red pullover and flowing maxi skirt. Of course, Violet faced some backlash for toting high-end accessories in the days following her climate change rant. In May, she was photographed carrying a vintage Chloé Marcie bucket bag—an item that typically resells for around $1,000. Violet has been vocal about her advocacy for both climate change and public health - such as the student demanding 'mask mandates' last year during an impassioned speech. But she recently penned an essay for her university's Global Health Review which was titled A Chronically Ill Earth: COVID Organizing as a Model Climate Response in Los Angeles. The Gen Zer detailed an argument that she had with her mom Jennifer Garner in the wake of the deadly fires that ravaged through Southern California at the beginning of the year. She had stated that while the 13 Going On 30 actress was left 'shell-shocked' over the devastation - Violet admitted that she was simply 'surprised at her surprise.' In the paper which was published on May 18, the student wrote of Garner: 'She was shell-shocked, astonished at the scale of destruction in the neighborhood where she raised myself and my siblings. 'I was surprised at her surprise: as a lifelong Angelena and climate-literate member of generation Z, my question had not been whether the Palisades would burn but when.' Violet then recalled having conversations with adults while staying at a hotel with her family to 'escape the smoke.' 'Though, I found my position to be an uncommon one: people spoke of how long rebuilding would take, how much it would cost, and how tragically odd the whole situation had been. 'The crisis was acute, a burst of bad luck. It had come from a combination of high winds and low rains.' The Yale student also wrote about how her younger brother Samuel had doubts that the fires were linked to climate change. 'Hopefully, most of us understand the climate crisis better than my little brother,' she added. Garner had volunteered with World Central Kitchen in the wake of the disaster to help feed firefighters and victims of the flames. During an emotional interview with MSNBC, the actress also revealed that she had lost a friend in the fires. Elsewhere in her school essay, Violet penned about society's approach when it comes to a crisis - and used COVID-19 as an example. She wrote about the government tackling the pandemic and facing the pressures to 'return to normal' by society. 'While vaccines have been extremely effective in reducing death rates, those of us who have never stopped "following the science" know that even mild COVID infections are dangerous.' Other topics Violet touched on included the effects of Long COVID and how privilege or bias can affect who receives a quick response for aid. She then followed up with an example about FEMA's differing response to the L.A. fires and the floods in North Carolina last year. At the time of the flames in January, Violet had also 'pressured' her family into wearing face masks once again due to poor air quality. A source told 'Violet Affleck has been pressuring her family to put a mask on since she has been back home because right now the air quality is unhealthy. 'She is clearly not going to give up on advocating for mask mandates. It has become a part of who she is and what she stands for.' The insider added that the college student 'is so passionate about this and she feels vindicated for her work championing masks because she does, truly, believe that her opposition to the ban is warranted. 'She is hoping the fires will serve to show people that masks can be used in times not only connected to the spread of a virus.' Last year in July, Violet had asked that 'mask bans' come to an end inside medical facilities during a speech to the governing body for Los Angeles County. She further asked the board to 'confront the long COVID crisis' and explained how she had contracted 'a post-viral condition' back in 2019. The teenager said at the time, 'I demand mask availability, air filtration and Far-UVC light in government facilitates, including jails and detention centers, and mask mandates in county medical faculties. 'You must expand the availability of high-quality free tests and treatment, and most importantly the county must oppose mask bans for any reason. They do not keep us safer.' Violet's speech garnered differing reactions - with some praising the Ivy League student while others called her 'utterly deluded.' Her father Ben also gave his eldest child a warning and told her that she needed to be 'realistic,' a source told 'While Ben and Jen will always support their daughter, Ben had a conversation with her and told her that she needs to be realistic with this because he doesn't want her to waste all of her time putting effort into something that probably won't make a difference in the long run. 'He knows how strongly she feels about this, but now that Violet is an adult, he felt that it was his duty to let her know that she is David fighting Goliath and that most people unfortunately do not feel the same way she does about this.' The insider added the Ben, 'was also concerned that Violet felt as if her parent's star power was going to be able to guarantee her the outcome that she wanted which, in this case, it is not.'

Jennifer Garner Shares Sweet Father's Day Tribute To Ben Affleck: "Favorite Landing Spot"

After months of headline-making hangouts, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck are back in the news this week — and this time, it's all because of Jen's sweet Father's Day tribute to Ben. The two stars have been divorced for a decade now, but it honestly seems like they just can't seem to stay out of each other's lives. Here's what the 13 Going On 30 star had to say about her why it feels like such a big deal. Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have always taken co-parenting seriously, so it's not surprising that Jen would have something kind to say about the father of her children, but what made this post extra-special was the sweet combination of the photo and the words that accompanied it. On June 15, 2025, Jen posted a photo to her Instagram story (see above), and captioned it, "Happy Father's Day to 3 people's favorite landing spot." This tribute comes after celebrating their daughter's (Violet Affleck) graduation, a family paintball outing, and a very busy holiday season together. Oh, on top of Ben's very public divorce from Jennifer Lopez. While Jen didn't say anything inherently romantic about her ex-husband, the photo is a rare look into their early days as parents together — and we'd be lying if we said it didn't feel intimate. The photo is clearly at the home Jen and Ben used to share, on what looks to be a late night of newborn parenting. Is this just Jen showing love to the man who helped build a family with her? Or could there be something more behind the message? Looking for more & news? Follow us on so you never miss a thing!

Jennifer Garner honors ex-husband Ben Affleck with never-before-seen photo on Father's Day 2025

Jennifer Garner is pulling back the curtain on Ben Affleck as a dad. The '13 Going on 30' star shared an intimate — and very rare — home photo of the Oscar winner via her Instagram Story while honoring him on Father's Day 2025. In the candid, never-before-seen snapshot, Affleck was seen laying on a couch with one of their three children sleeping comfortably on his chest. 'Happy Father's Day to 3 people's favorite landing spot,' Garner wrote along with her heartwarming shoutout Sunday. Garner and Affleck share kids Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13. The exes have maintained an amicable co-parenting relationship since announcing their separation in 2015 following 10 years of marriage. They ultimately finalized their divorce in 2018 after the 'Gone Girl' actor checked into rehab. Affleck, 52, recently praised the 'Alias' alum, 53, in his cover story for GQ's April 2025 issue. 'I'm really lucky that I have a really good co-parent and partner in Jennifer Garner, the kids' mom, who's wonderful and great,' the 'Air' star said. 'We work together well,' he added. A source previously told Page Six in March that Affleck would 'would love another chance' with Garner after settling his divorce from Jennifer Lopez. The insider told us that the actor 'would definitely be open to giving things another shot with Jen if the timing is ever right.' Though, the source added, 'Ben knows it's just not realistic at this time in their lives.' However, we were told the 'feeling is not mutual' on Garner's part. A separate insider insisted the 'Deadpool & Wolverine' actress is 'happy' with her boyfriend, John Miller, who she's been dating since 2018. In fact, Garner and Miller were seen sharing a passionate kiss in a rare PDA moment in Los Angeles earlier this month.
