Drive Into Your Best Life Yet – With The All-New Toyota Vios!

A car is more than just a way to get around. For many, it's the second biggest investment after a home, especially if it's your first. These machines are easily going to be your daily drive for decades to come with the right maintenance, as everyone wants a machine that will grow old with them. With that in mind, it's only natural for you to want a car that suits your improving lifestyle, wilder adventures, and perhaps even a growing family. Whether it's navigating the morning school run or sneaking off for a quick beach escape, the Vios adapts seamlessly to your lifestyle. Of course, with the amount of money and maybe your future on the line, the last thing you want is for it to break down because of a small pothole or a factory defect. This immediately raises a simple yet important question: 'What is the right car that can almost last a lifetime with you?' Introducing the new Toyota Vios, a sleek, versatile sedan that can easily defy any expectations in more ways than one. Planning the perfect getaway? How about the next company outing? This sedan is here to solve everything – from your daily commute, to long-distance adventures and everything in between. An Absolute Powerhouse Of A Sedan Many assume that sedans don't offer much power just because of their size, but the Toyota Vios proves that wrong from the first drive. The moment you tap the accelerator, it responds with surprising pep, making city commutes a breeze and weekend drives a thrill. Whether you're zipping through traffic or heading out of town, the Vios keeps up effortlessly, giving you the freedom to move through life at your own pace. No wonder so many drivers turn to the Vios when they want a car that just works, no matter the road or the reason. For families who are always on the go, petrol easily becomes one of your biggest concerns, as it can and will slowly burn a hole in your pocket. Luckily, this car is powered by the Toyota DOHC + Dual VVT-i 106 PS | 138 Nm, a revolutionary engine that boasts incredible fuel efficiency and throttle response, which allows for faster accelerations, guaranteeing that you'll never have to worry about running out mid-roadtrip. Pair this up with an already compact body, and this compact ride can take on any challenge thrown its way. Built To Last, Designed To Adapt You might be wondering about durability. Isn't a sedan like this a bit too delicate for rougher roads? Not at all. Crafted with soft-touch panels and leather upholstery internally and an enhanced suspension system and refined steel externally, the Vios is engineered to endure. Speaking of bumpy roads, it's not just the engine that has been reinforced. This sporty sedan features an enhanced suspension system with added straight-line stability and a special tuning for those tight turns. All of this is built on top of an all-new platform, the latest and most advanced one Toyota has to offer. This incredibly durable body features a higher structural rigidity and stability over competing sedans for better collision safety. But despite these upgrades, it still remains lightweight and compact for better handling. Additionally, it also has some reinforcements in key areas, bolstering its already unmovable frame. Though it may seem minor, these adjustments greatly improve the comfort of the ride in more ways than one, creating an exceptionally smooth ride you won't get anywhere else. Sleek Design That's Borderline Luxury Of course, many people settle on a car for many reasons, but the biggest factor of them all is the design and character — something the Toyota Vios has an abundance of. From the front grille, this beast exudes a level of confidence that is unmatched by any of its competitors sharing the same road with it, exuding a bold form factor that is meant to wow people. Each angle and curve of its body has been machined and sculpted to accentuate every detail, such as its LED auto high beam headlamp for better visibility at night, aerodynamic air vents that improve brake cooling performance and reduce drag for better handling and stability, and a rear diffuser and air canards that help direct airflow to maintain a low centre of gravity and better traction for slippery roads. It has the interior to match as well, possessing a streamlined design that feels both futuristic and functional. From the comfort of the driver's seat, you get a multi-information display digital meter that tells you everything you need to know about the car at a simple glance, with an equally intuitive steering wheel for easy, on-the-go adjustments. Sliding into the Vios after a long day feels like stepping into your own personal sanctuary. The leather seats, the gentle glow of the digital meter, it's a vibe. Pair this with the sleek black leather finish, and you're in for a luxury drive that elevates even the most ordinary commute. Top-tier Service Is Just A Call Away It's also worth noting that not all car services are created equal. Toyota isn't just known for its outstanding cars but also for its outstanding after-sales service, even months or years after you've made your purchase. Introducing the Toyota Extra Mile, the country's leading sales and aftersales services that will take care of you and your car for years to come. To them, buying a car isn't a simple transaction; it's a promise of journeys ahead, memories made, and peace of mind along the way. Motorcyclist survives crash, only to fall into the deep waters surrounding Penang Bridge

EVERYONE would love to have something soft catch their fall, whether literally or figuratively. But can the same be said to a motorcyclist who crashed his bike, only to be cushioned by a body of water? We forgot to mention it was quite deep too, so good luck to those people who have yet to pick up swimming as a life-saving skill. In a recent video, a motorcyclist could be seen floating under the Penang bridge, having recently fallen off the edge. The video can be found at: More prominent was the fact that a boat was fortunately nearby, so he was quickly fished out of the water. The brief video did not provide further details regarding the accident but a post on Facebook by Penang Today Community showed the aftermath. On another note, this is not the first time an accident results in the victim being thrown off the Penang bridge. Among them, a 2019 accident involving a Toyota Vios and a Mazda CX-5 takes the cake. To recap, the CX-5 plunged into sea after being rammed into by the Vios. Rescuers successfully winched out the badly damaged SUV from the sea after a three-day search and rescue operation and several failed attempts. The driver of the vehicle, Moey Yun Peng, 20, was still strapped to the driver's seat. Moey's cause of death has been classified as 'drowning in an individual involved in a road traffic collision'. But how deep is the water surrounding the Penang bridge? It varies according to areas but the main ship channel into the Pinang Harbour which is via the North Channel, has a depth averaging at 10.2 metres. It isn't much considering how deep the sea in some parts of the world can go, but it is a long way down for a lone motorcyclist. —July 6, 2025 Main image: @update11111 (X)

Vietnam vehicle market grows 4% in May

Vietnam's new vehicle market expanded by 4% to 22,658 units in May 2025 from 21,767 units a year earlier, according to wholesale data released by the Vietnam Automotive Manufacturers Association (VAMA). The data do not include sales by Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Tesla, Nissan, domestic automaker VinFast, and several Chinese brands that have entered the market in the last two years. VAMA's members reported slower sales growth last month, following a strong rebound over the last year from depressed levels. The latest government data show that GDP expanded by 5.9% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025, moderating from 7.5% in the fourth quarter of 2024, underpinned by strong domestic consumption and exports. In the first five months of 2025 the market expanded by 12% to 104,780 units from 93,653 units a year-earlier, according to VAMA data, with sales of passenger vehicles rising by 7% to 71,794 units while commercial vehicle deliveries surged by 23% to 32,986 units. Truong Hai (Thaco) Group, the local assembler and distributor of several overseas brands and a major player in the commercial vehicle segment, reported a 14% sales rise to 33,806 units in this period. This includes a 48% jump in Thaco commercial vehicle sales to 10,050 units, and a 17% rise in Mazda sales to 11,803 units, while Kia sales declined by 9% to 10,116 units. Toyota's sales surged by 34% to 23,061 units year-to-date, driven by strong Yaris Cross and Vios volumes, while Ford's sales rose by 22% to 17,533 units; Mitsubishi 12,130 units (+4%).; and Honda 9,710 units (+7%). Domestic automaker VinFast announced separately that it delivered 56,187 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) to customers in Vietnam in the first five months of the year, with the VF3 and VF5 models accounting for around two-thirds of the total. Hyundai's passenger vehicle sales data for May were not available, but its local distributor Tan Chong International reported sales of 15,944 units in the first four months of the year. The Vietnamese Ministry of Finance announced in March that it had extended the vehicle registration tax exemption for battery electric vehicles (BEVs) until the end of February 2027, extending it for an additional two years. #NSTviral: Dashcam shows car flipping five times in highway crash

KUALA LUMPUR: A woman's terrifying car crash, which saw her vehicle flip over five times along the North-South Expressway (Plus), has gone viral, drawing both sympathy and criticism from netizens. In a 20-second TikTok clip posted by user @ig_terry_1519, also known as Umi Athirah, dashcam footage shows her Perodua Bezza flipping multiple times after a crash on the Plus Highway near Slim River–Sungkai in Perak. The impact left her car completely wrecked. Athirah was the only person in the vehicle, which she said she had owned for just nine months. The accident also involved a family travelling in a Toyota Vios. Athirah said she sustained only minor wounds, while the others escaped unhurt. She claimed that despite the violent crash, the airbags in her Bezza did not deploy. "I survived a deadly car crash this week. My deepest apologies to the Vios family. "I've settled the police compound and learned my lesson. "While I lost my car, I'm just grateful to still be here. Hoping the insurance claim, injuries, and trauma can all be sorted soon," she wrote in the caption. The video sparked hundreds of reactions from viewers — some expressing relief, others urging safer driving habits. "I've been driving for 12 years, and I never go over 100 (kmph). Most of the time, I stick to 90, especially on dark roads," said user @Shera. Another user, @ainnhrrs, commented: "How did you end up hitting the Vios? Did you fall asleep? Please be more careful — there are other lives at stake, not just yours." "What must have gone through her mind while the car was flipping? She'll probably be traumatised to drive again," wrote @ienafarina.
