Kannappa box office collection day 1 early report: Actor Vishnu Manchu's long-anticipated dream project Kannappa finally hit theatres on Friday. Featuring Vishnu in the titular role, the film also stars heavyweights like Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, and Mohanlal in prominent roles. Leading up to the release, Vishnu undertook a spiritual tour of the 12 Jyotirlingas and emphasised in multiple interviews that Kannappa is not a mythological drama, but a significant chapter from Indian history. However, early reactions suggest that audiences may not entirely share his conviction. As of 8 pm on release day, the film has earned Rs 6.5 crore at the box office, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. While this is the highest opening for a Vishnu Manchu film, it falls short of expectations for a project of this scale—especially one shot over eight months in New Zealand with a crew of more than 800 people. Despite the presence of Prabhas and Mohanlal, the film has not generated the kind of frenzy typically associated with their solo releases. The movie recorded a varied occupancy across languages: 50.45% in Telugu, 16.06% in Tamil, 13.63% in Kannada, 9.53% in Hindi, and just 5.80% in Malayalam. The film has been released across 2,079 screens in India, distributed as follows: 1,081 in Telugu, 522 in Hindi, 294 in Malayalam, 131 in Tamil, and 51 in Kannada. Promoted as part of Ajay Devgn's Shaitaan universe, Maa managed to collect Rs 3.21 crore by 8 pm across 2,462 shows—383 more than Kannappa. The movie opened to mixed reviews on Friday. A part of SCREEN's review read, 'Kannappa is about the trials of faith and how a non-believer sheds his arrogance to embrace personal transformation – so, when the screenplay (also credited to Vishnu) does come to its own for a brief while, it throws up a few pleasant surprises that salvage an otherwise turgid retelling of mythology.'

Manchu Manoj Praises Brother Vishnu's Performance in Kannappa
Manchu Vishnu's new movie Kannappa is out now, with Vishnu playing the lead role. The film is receiving a lot of positive responses from the audience. On June 27, Vishnu's brother, Manchu Manoj, watched Kannappa in an IMAX theatre and praised the movie. He said the film is very good and believes it will be the next big hit after Prabhas. Manoj was impressed by Vishnu's performance, especially in the climax. Manoj also complimented their father, Mohan Babu, for his amazing acting in the movie. He hopes the film becomes a big blockbuster and wishes the team great success, saying he will watch the movie again to catch the part he missed.

Frustrated Prabhas fan wants to sue Vishnu Manchu after watching Kannappa: ‘Where is Shiva, why are you showing heroism'
Mukesh Kumar Singh's Vishnu Manchu-starrer Kannappa was released in theatres on Friday to mixed reviews. The film received criticism for its first half, while most people on X (formerly Twitter) seem to have liked the second half. However, a frustrated Prabhas fan who spoke to IndiaGlitz wants to sue Vishnu after watching the film. In a video uploaded by the website, the Prabhas fan can be seen fuming after watching Kannappa. He said, 'I will file a case against him (Vishnu) for giving false information. What did he say in the press? Where is Shiva in the first half? I am a Prabhas fan, and I came here after watching the Bhakta Kannappa movie.' His biggest gripe, however, seemed to be that Kannappa wasn't like the 1976 film Bhakta Kannappa, which starred Prabhas' uncle Krishnam Raju. He said, 'His family gave you the rights to make this film. If it's your dream project, you can't change the film however you want. He gave false information in the trailer and in the press. When you promoted the movie as Bhakta Kannappa, why are you showing your heroism? Show the devotion instead. We came for Prabhas and watched him for 20 minutes in the second half; that's enough.' Even as the fan raged, another person pointed out in the video that they weren't even a fan of Vishnu, but that the film was good. One person commented under the video, 'Babu disclaimer chudakunda cinema ni elaa tappu battaali ane pani lo unnattunnaadu!! @themohanbabu antha base voice lo cheppaaru ga, Bhakta Kannappa story ni research chesi dani aadharam tho rasukunna kalpitha kadha ani. Vishnu Manchu confirms no OTT release for Kannappa before 10 weeks: 'Audiences deserve the best'
Actor-producer Vishnu Manchu's long-awaited mythological epic Kannappa is set to release in theatres today, June 27, amid high anticipation across the country. At a recent pre-release event, Vishnu addressed questions surrounding the film's post-theatrical digital plans and made it clear that Kannappa will not be making an early debut on OTT platforms. 'I have a very large freedom; my movie will not come to OTT before 10 weeks. That is the deal I have, and by God's grace, I don't have any release pressure. My only intention is to showcase the best to the audience,' Vishnu said as reported by India Today. In a further boost, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has approved a ₹ 50 hike in standard ticket prices for the film's theatrical release.
