Kannappa Story: Kannappa is a devotional epic inspired by sacred lore. It traces the spiritual journey of Thinnadu (Vishnu Manchu), an atheist tribal hunter known for his raw instincts and survival skills, who undergoes a profound inner transformation. His path eventually leads him to become one of Lord Shiva's most devoted followers. As the story unfolds, Thinnadu's encounters with divine elements and his evolving sense of purpose take centre stage. His relationship with Nemali (Preity Mukhundhan), who acts as a feisty yet grounded counterbalance, adds emotional texture to his arc. Kannappa Review: Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa is a sincere attempt at retelling revered lore with visual grandeur. While the film opens on a slow and stretched note, it gradually finds its rhythm and builds to a soul-stirring finale. Vishnu Manchu brings sincerity and steadiness to the lead role. Prabhas makes a dynamic appearance as Rudra, energising the screen with his commanding and entertaining presence. Akshay Kumar makes a confident Telugu debut as Lord Shiva, fitting naturally into the film's spiritual atmosphere. Kajal Aggarwal adds elegance as Parvati, while Mohanlal's composed portrayal of Kirata brings a quiet strength to the narrative. Mohan Babu is firm and dependable as Mahadeva Shasthri, and R. Sarathkumar leaves an impression as Nathanathudu. The supporting cast, including Brahmanandam, Madhoo, Siva Balaji, Mukesh Rishi, Devaraj, Brahmaji, and others, contribute meaningfully, helping flesh out the world around Thinnadu. While the film hits the dramatic notes effectively, some of the emotional layers, particularly around Thinnadu's inner conflict and relationships, could have been explored with more depth. The narrative has heart, but a deeper dive into the character's internal struggles would have added more weight to the transformation. That said, Kannappa scores high on visual and musical impact. Sheldon Chau's cinematography captures the beauty of forested landscapes and celestial moments with finesse, giving the film a rich visual texture. Some of the VFX elements fall short of the film's ambition, but the overall sincerity of the production shines through. Stephen Devassy's background score is another strong point, heightening the emotional beats, especially during the intense and moving final act. Watch it if you enjoy sacred stories with strong visual storytelling and emotional payoff. Kannappa ends on a powerful note that resonates with devotees and admirers of culturally rooted cinema.

Vishnu Manchu's estranged brother Manchu Manoj calls Kannappa ‘1000 times better than expected', heaps praise on Prabhas

The much-awaited Telugu film Kannappa finally hit the screens on 27 June. In a surprising turn of events, Vishnu Manchu's brother, Manchu Manoj, was seen at Prasads Multiplex catching the very first show of the movie. His presence raised eyebrows, given the not-so-warm equation between the two brothers. Manoj also heaped praise on the film during his review. Manchu Manoj praises brother Vishnu Manchu's performance in Kannappa. As Manoj was exiting the theatre, he was surrounded by media seeking his reaction to the movie. As quoted by Gulte, Manoj said, "The film is a thousand times better than I expected. After Prabhas enters, the movie goes to the next level." Without naming anyone, he added, "I never imagined, even in my dreams, such a brilliant performance in the climax," which many believed to be a nod to the film's lead, Vishnu Manchu. He further congratulated the team of Kannappa, saying, "I hope the film becomes a huge success and that the money invested is returned a thousandfold." This comes shortly after Manoj omitted his brother, Vishnu Manchu, in a post on X (formerly Twitter) while sending best wishes to the Kannappa team. Ahead of the film's release, he wrote, "All the best to Team #Kannappa! My Dad and his team have poured years of effort and love into this film. I'm praying it roars to blockbuster success. Can't wait to see my little champs Ari, Vivi, and Avram make memories on the big screen. So happy that #TanikellaBharani garu's lifelong dream is coming alive tomorrow. I wholeheartedly thank the golden-hearted PraBoss garu & the G.O.A.T.s #Mohanlal Garu, #AkshayKumar Garu, #PrabhuDeva Garu, and each and every one who supported this film with love and belief. Can't wait to see you all shine on the big screen. May Lord Shiva bless this journey with light, love, and legacy." For the unversed, during the promotions of the film, Vishnu accused his brother Manoj of stealing the hard drive containing Kannappa's footage. Speaking at an event in Chennai, Vishnu alleged that Raghu and Charitha, who allegedly stole the disk, were part of Manoj's staff. 'In case the culprits manage to leak the footage, I urge everyone not to watch the leaked content. About 70 minutes of colour-graded footage that was sent from a Mumbai facility to our father's Film Nagar residence was stolen by Raghu more than a month ago,' he said. Kannappa Box Office Collection Day 1: Vishnu Manchu's Film Roars With Rs 9 Crore

Last Updated: Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa, featuring cameos by Akshay Kumar and Prabhas, earned Rs 9 crore nett across India on its opening day. Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa may not have opened to record-breaking numbers, but it sure made enough noise on day one. Seems like the cameos by Akshay Kumar and Prabhas worked in its favour. The Telugu mythological action drama hit theatres on Friday and, as per early estimates by earned Rs 9 crore nett across India. According to the report, Kannappa saw varied occupancy rates across regions on Friday—16.45 per cent in Tamil, 55.89 per cent in Telugu, 14.56 per cent in Hindi, 13.81 per cent in Kannada, and 7.20 per cent in Malayalam. While the film collected Rs 9 crore on its opening day, it still outperformed Kajol's Maa, which earned Rs 4.50 crore. In fact, Kannappa made nearly double of what Maa did, as per data from Maa also hit theatres on Friday, marking Kajol's much-awaited return to the big screen after a three-year break. Directed by Vishal Furia, the mythological horror thriller is produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande, with Kumar Mangat Pathak serving as co-producer. A review by News18 of Kannappa read, 'The whole sequence and the visual effects are superbly done, an example of how far our cinema has evolved technologically. Back in the day, the same scene would've involved golden cardboard arrows moving at less than 24 frames per second. One arrow would spew fire, the opponent's would quench it with water. If one turned into a snake, the other would become its predator, an eagle. Mukesh Kumar Singh's Kannappa isn't weighed down by such age-old silliness. Here, the fight sequences and visuals look rich. However, if one were to read out the dialogues of Kannappa and any devotional film from the past one after the other, it would be hard to discern which is from 2025 and which is not." Kannappa is a 2025 Indian Telugu-language mythological devotional film directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh. The story, written by Vishnu Manchu—who also plays the titular role—is inspired by the legend of Kannappa, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva in Hindu mythology. The film is produced by veteran actor Mohan Babu and features a star-studded ensemble cast including Preity Mukhundhan, Kajal Aggarwal, Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Arpit Ranka, Brahmanandam, Brahmaji, Siva Balaji, Kaushal Manda, Rahul Madhav, Devaraj, Mukesh Rishi, Raghu Babu, and Madhoo in key supporting roles. First Published:

Kannappa Opens Big — For a Vishnu Manchu film, 11cr first day box office in India

Kannappa opened well at the Telugu box office, grossing Rs. 11 crore approx on its first day in India. The Vishnu Manchu starrer, featuring a galore of cameos from all across the country, including big names like Prabhas, Akshay Kumar and Mohanlal, drew most of its revenue from the Telugu version. The Hindi dubbed version had minimal collections while Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam were pretty much washouts. The film grossed Rs. 8.50 crore approx on Friday in the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The opening is career best for Vishnu, who doesn't really have a box office track record of any value to his name, with his last hit being more than a decade ago and his recent films all being pretty much non-starters. The opening can be attributed to the subject matter, while the presence of Prabhas also probably helped the going to some degree in the Telugu states. The film carries huge costs, and the production is carrying the risk with theatrical rights not sold to any third-party distributors, which is rare for a Telugu film. The film could have done with a bigger opening, but then there weren't any expectations for that, and these numbers are better than expectations. It doesn't seem like the Hindi version will break out, which makes it tough for it, relying only on the Telugu version, which tends to fade quickly. The film will aim to sustain from this start, with the immediate task being not to drop big today. The first day box office collections of Kannappa are as follows:

Kannappa box office collection day 1: Vishnu Manchu scores the biggest opening of his career thanks to Prabhas, Akshay Kumar; film earns Rs 9 crore

The much-anticipated mythological devotional film Kannappa, starring Vishnu Manchu in the lead role, has finally hit theatres, and it's off to an impressive start at the box office. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned an estimated Rs 9 crore across all languages in India on its opening day. It also marks the highest-ever opening for a Vishnu Manchu film. Kannappa recorded an overall Telugu occupancy of 55.89% on Friday. Morning shows began on a promising note with 50.55% occupancy, which steadily increased throughout the day, rising to 52.81% for evening shows and peaking at 69.87% during night shows. Hyderabad and Bengaluru reported the highest number of screenings, as well as the highest occupancy rates for the film. Also Read | Kannappa movie review: Vishnu Manchu's ambition cannot fully save this tediously long saga In the Tamil market, the film registered a 6.45% occupancy rate on Friday, with Chennai leading in both show count and viewer turnout. Meanwhile, in the Hindi belt, Delhi topped the charts in terms of both the number of shows and audience presence, contributing to an overall Hindi occupancy of 14.56%. The Kannada and Malayalam versions saw occupancy rates of 13.81% and 7.20%, respectively. This strong debut is particularly notable when compared to Vishnu Manchu's previous release Ginna, which managed just Rs 0.2 crore on its opening day and went on to become a box office failure. The mythological epic also features a star-studded cast, including Mohanlal, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, and Kajal Aggarwal, an added draw for the masses. Kannappa is based on the tale of devotion and sacrifice, weaving mythology, emotion, and stunning visuals into a narrative that resonates deeply with devotees of Lord Shiva and fans of grand-scale storytelling. Reportedly made on a budget of Rs 200 crore, Kannappa is shaping up to be a significant box office contender in the mythological genre. However, it has received fairly negative reviews from the critics. It remains to be seen how much Kannappa will earn over its first weekend, amid growing competition from older releases like Sitaare Zameen Par, which is still going strong, and new releases like Brad Pitt's F1: The Movie.
