Kaizer Chiefs: All pre-season tour results
Kaizer Chiefs have had a very frustrating and underwhelming tour so far. Kaizer Chiefs have already played three matches in the Netherlands. However, they are yet to win one match. Vitesse 2 – 1 Chiefs, 8 July FC Utrecht 4 – 0 Chiefs, 11 July NEC 1 – 0 Chiefs, 12 July Amakhosi opened their pre-season tour of The Netherlands with a 2-1 loss against Vitesse. Thereafter, things went from bad to worse when they demolished 4-0 by Utrecht a few days later. Then, just 24 hours later, they played – and lost – again. Chiefs lost 1-0 to NEC to make it three losses in a row. Chiefs have two more matches left on their tour to finish on a high. They take on PEC Zwolle (Tuesday, 15 July) and Twente (Wednesday, 16 July 2025). It is crucial that Nasreddine Nabi's Amakhosi register at least one win in their next two matches to salvage some pride. Furthermore, they will want to gain some confidence heading into the 2025/PSL season. Additionally, Chiefs have to score. They have only managed one goal in three matches. So, thats one goal in 270 minutes (four and a half hours of football). None of their strikers have scored yet with Flavio Silva looking uncertain in front of goal. Motaung reacts to Kaizer Chiefs pre-season defeat
Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr has reflected following the club's first match of their 2025 pre-season. Amakhosi went down 2-1 to Vitesse in the Netherlands on Tuesday. Having arrived in the country last week, Chiefs played their first practice match, where new players were given a run. Motaung Jr said the camp was aimed at getting the best out of their players and taking them out of their comfort zone. 'It's about cross-cultures and about having a pre-season at a higher level than we are used to, which also has to do with having really competitive training matches,' Motaung Jnr told Chiefs' website. 'Training and playing games in Europe is also about getting players out of their comfort zone. It's a different environment; it's about a lot of travelling to the training matches, and it's about preparing the mindset of players for the upcoming season.' The Kaizer Chiefs boss says the pre-season training matches will help players improve. 'We want the players to test themselves against these really strong sides. They will learn from it and will not only become better as individual players, but, maybe even more important, improve as a team. 'That's why we are so happy that the Chairman, Dr Kaizer Motaung, and the Board supported us to go overseas for pre-season again. 'Going to Holland is not only something new for the youngsters, but also for several of the older players,' the former Kaizer Chiefs striker added. 'It's about integrating the newly signed players into the squad and bonding as a team. 'The most important aspect, of course, is to get the players fully prepared for the upcoming season, both from a physical and tactical point of view.' Ex-Chiefs coach names two new signings who failed to impress
Former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Farouk Khan has assessed some of the new Amakhosi players who featured in the club's 2-1 defeat to Vitesse. The Soweto giants played the Dutch side in their first pre-season match on Tuesday evening. Despite taking the lead in the first half, Amakhosi went on to lose 2-1. Khan felt two players failed to impress. Striker Flavio Da Silva and also Ethan Chislett who started the match in the midfield. The former Chiefs coach felt boss players did not offer much throughout the match but gave them the benefit of the doubt since it's still pre-season. 'With Silva up front, he didn't look much different than what they had in the past, but it's early days. He was working very hard; he was running, he was pressing, and he could give a lot of energy up front. But whether he can score, we don't know because the best goal of the match was scored by (Reeve) Frosler,' Khan told KickOff . 'Chislett didn't impress me. He looked like he was out of sorts. I suppose it's a different level now, coming from a lower league in England. Professional football is never easy,' he added. Khan said Thabiso Monyane, who was signed last month, had a decent game but praised Nkhanyiso Shinga. 'Monyane didn't do too badly, but he was not tested, you know. We must remember they were also playing against a team that was recently relegated, so they are also trying to build. So, you can't read too much with this game.' 'But out of the four new players that played, Shinga is the one who impressed me. Other than that, there is still a lot of work in progress at Kaizer Chiefs,' the coach said.
