Last Updated: Usha Vance, a practicing Hindu, revealed how the couple navigates their differing religious backgrounds to create a spiritually inclusive home. US Second Lady Usha Vance opened up about the complexities and conversations behind raising her three children- Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel- in an interfaith household. Married to US Vice President JD Vance, a Catholic convert, Usha Vance, a practicing Hindu, revealed how the couple navigates their differing religious backgrounds to create a spiritually inclusive home. 'They can choose," Usha Vance said, referring to whether the children will be baptized Catholic, in a candid conversation on Meghan McCain's podcast Citizen McCain. She continued, 'We send our kids to Catholic school, and we have given them each the choice, right? They can choose whether they want to be baptised Catholic and then go through the whole step-by-step process with their classes in school." Raised Hindu, Usha Vance described her own family's spiritual life as rich and ongoing, explaining, 'My grandmother prays every day, she goes to temple regularly, she'll do her own pujas. My children have plenty of access to the Hindu tradition from books that we give them, to things that we show them, to the recent trip to India, and some of the religious elements of that visit." Still, she admitted, not all Hindu festivals are celebrated at home. 'We're actually hoping to have a Holi party and we're looking forward to that next year," she added. The couple's religious dynamic has evolved over the years, she said, sharing, 'At the time when I met JD, he wasn't Catholic. He converted later after we had our first child, maybe it was after Vivek was born too." 'We had to have a lot of real conversations about how do you do that, when I'm not Catholic, and I'm not intending to convert or anything like that," she said. 'Kids are smart," Usha Vance said, adding, 'They know I'm not Catholic, and they know there are many ways to experience the divine." First Published: June 26, 2025, 22:38 IST

Inside Vivek Oberoi's luxurious Dubai house: Lake view, swimming pool, organic garden, it's worth Rs...
They say home is where the heart is, and this saying goes true for a celebrated Bollywood actor who, despite having a luxurious house in Dubai, his heart still belongs to the dream city-Mumbai. The actor that we are talking about is none other than the Saathiya Fame Vivek Oberoi. He recently opened up in an interview and spoke about his Dubai 'home away from home', which his wife has created. Vivek now lives in his luxurious and grand home in Dubai; however, he still feels that his heart belongs in Mumbai, and that's where he considers his real home. He also shared that every time he travels to Mumbai, his emotional bond with the city makes him never want to return to Dubai. However, he also appreciated his Dubai life, and for the love of his Indian roots in Mumbai, he shares that he has managed to balance the best of both worlds in his new Dubai house. To give an Indianized touch to his Dubai house, Vivek and his wife Priyanka have surrounded their house with lush greenery, added a touch of desi artwork, and even have their own organic garden that grows curry leaves and vegetables inside it. Exuding panache and his memories of childhood, Vivek reveals that his house was entirely designed and selected by his wife, Priyanka. 'I didn't even select the location of this house. All of this – the house, the interior, and the design – all credit goes to Priyanka; she is the boss. Both of us love paintings, but I was the one who chose all the art for the house, all 'desi' painters. The rest of it is all Priyanka. She is in love with the whole 'vintage' and 'homey' style of décor. We are also surrounded by a lot of greenery, and my wife is a 'constant' gardener.' Vivek's house has a lot of vintage decor and desi artwork. Located in the scenic and upscale Meadows neighbourhoods, his Dubai house ranges somewhere between ₹11 crore to ₹50 crore. Entailing many luxurious amenities, the house offers a scenic view of a lake, has a patio, and a swimming pool. Besides being architecturally, his home away from home is also a reflection of his early memories in Mumbai, and it pays a homage to his desi roots. Today, Vivek Oberoi leads a luxurious life with a whopping net worth of approximately Rs. 1200 crores.

Language barriers vanish in Vivek Vijayakumaran's dialogue-free play
Bengaluru-based theatre artiste Vivek Vijayakumaran's play, It is You, resonates across languages, borders, and beliefs, without a single word being spoken. The play emerged from the desire to respond to the growing religious division and marginalisation, inviting the audience to an emotional space. Excerpts from a conversation: 'MOVEMENT CAN PORTRAY WHAT WORDS CAN'T' For Vivek and his collaborator Tyson, silence is a powerful universal medium that connects everyone. 'We knew we were tackling a complex theme. However, we also wanted this piece to transcend contexts — to smaller towns, villages, metros, and even beyond India. Movement can embody complexities that sometimes even language cannot hold. The idea is to reach people on a deeply human level, no matter what language they speak, which religion they practice, or where they come from,' shares Vivek. 'WRITING GOES BEYOND WORDS, I WRITE MOVEMENTS' 'I write actions, sequences, movements, and describe in detail what happens, where, and why. It's all about mapping a performer's journey on stage. Every movement and gesture has an intention behind it. I write when the sound should come in, and what instrument will be played. The script is more like a blueprint, a guide that holds the soul of the performance. It shows the path, but what happens on the floor is what truly brings it alive,' explains Vivek. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trade Bitcoin & Ethereum – No Wallet Needed! IC Markets Start Now Undo Working without a director was a challenge for Tyson and me. There was no one else to point out mistakes. But, we because our biggest critics; we spent so long on the floor that the play is now in our bones Vivek Vijayakumaran 'THE PLAY IS A CALL FOR COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY' 'The play engages with questions of power and control, but it ultimately turns the mirror towards the audience. The title of the play itself is a direct provocation. Maybe it is you who is the problem. Maybe it is you who is the solution. It is a call to recognise our role in the systems we critique. It is a demand for introspection, accountability, and empathy,' says Vivek.
