Jessie J went into 'survival mode' after cancer diagnosis as she shares regret

Singer Jessie J is continuing to share thoughtful reflections on her recent breast cancer surgery as she updates fans amid her recovery from the procedure Singer Jessie J has shared an emotional update as she continues to recover from breast cancer surgery. The Price Tag singer announced in June that she had been diagnosed with early breast cancer and that she would be undergoing treatment. The artist, whose real name is Jessica Cornish, and her partner Chanan Safir Colman, had a son, Sky Safir Cornish Colman, in May 2023. In a message to fans shortly after having her operation, the former Voice UK judge admitted she was missing being "an active mum/human." ‌ On Saturday, Jessie took to her Instagram Stories to reflect on her diagnosis two weeks on from surgery. "2 weeks post surgery. Had my drain out 2 nights ago. She said breathe in and take a hard breathe out. She whipped that thang out so quick. Woii oii. Weirdest feeling. But so nice to have it out after 12 days," she wrote. ‌ "Now it's just me and my wonky boobs trying to figure out how to dress until I match them up. The left one is looking at me like 'you ok babe?' Also my experience was when I was diagnosed I went into survival mode. 'There was so much going on with appointments and in my mind esp with a toddler I had just moved and was about to start this campaign after 8 years away. Mad. "I didn't really have a lot of time to process what was happening or what was going to happen. So I'm currently experiencing some delayed sadness and frustration by having time to process what IS happening." Jessie continued: "A little disappointed in myself I didn't say goodbye to my old boob enough. Sounds silly but that's where I'm at. Again that's my journey. I'm sure others feel different. "But for me I didn't think beyond the surgery. I was just being strong. Well now I'm here and letting myself be angry and sad and all the things. Just for a few days. Then I will sew some padding in a bra to even them out order some t-shirts and crack tf on." ‌ Last month, the mum-of-one revealed she had stopped taking pain medication, saying it is "just not my thing". A social media update from the star featured a picture of Jessie's wound drain, a tube which helps remove excess fluid or blood that can accumulate after surgery. She asked her followers: "Anyone else who has had this, did you feel like you are walking around one of those dog / duck toys. I carry mine on the floor when I'm home so the gravity can help the drain. Hoping it's out by the end of the week." The artist has battled with ill health throughout her life, having been diagnosed with a heart condition aged eight, suffering a minor stroke aged 18 and having briefly gone deaf in 2020. The Domino singer said she is "feeling positive and grateful", and asked fans not to worry if she "seems a little out of it" in public. "If you do see me out, sitting in a park or coming out of a doctor's appointment or eating or walking or anything, and I seem a little out of it. I am," Jessie said. "It's not personal. I don't have what I usually have to give energy wise, understandably. I will get there. It's a slow road."

Jessie J emotional gig words hinted at star's cancer weeks before announcement

On Wednesday, Jessie said she made her diagnosis public to help her process the news, and to show solidarity with others who are going through a similar experience Singer Jessie J appeared to drop a huge hint about her cancer diagnosis last Price Tag star, 37, shocked fans this week by revealing she has early stage breast cancer and is holding on to the word 'early' and plans to undergo surgery after her performance at this month's Summertime Ball. The revelation made her words at her intimate North London concert on May 20 seem all the more poignant and significant. On Wednesday, Jessie said she made her diagnosis public to help her process the news, and to show solidarity with others who are going through a similar experience. "I just wanted to be open and share it, " she expressed. "One, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard. ‌ ‌ "I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories. I'm an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse-that's the bit that kills me." She continued: "The timing of it has been mad but also beautiful and given me this incredible perspective in this time. "But honestly I need to process it and talk about it and, I need a hug. You have loved me through all my good and hard times. And I don't want this to be any different," she concluded. Just weeks earlier she told gig-goers at Union Chapel that she was putting herself first and wanted to have fun. Jessie said on stage: 'I know we are all going through our own battles in life, we are all struggling in our own way. We talk about it sometimes, and sometimes we don't. 'I'm grateful I have the voice and the strength to be able to put those experiences into songs that people can take and make them their own soundtrack to help them get through a tough time, a good time, a scary time.' When she introduced her new single No Secrets, she also seemed to be referencing her cancer battle. Jessie said: 'This song for me, more so than ever right now, is getting me through my life.' ‌ Earlier this week, the former Voice UK coach told her 13.9 million Instagram followers: 'Before No Secrets came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. I'm highlighting the word 'early' – cancer sucks in any form – but I'm holding on to the word 'early'. I have been in and out of tests this whole period.' No Secrets details Jessie's relationship with fame and her heartbreaking 2021 miscarriage, which she has since spoken openly about. Jessie, who is performing at Wembley Stadium next Sunday, told fans she would then 'disappear for a bit' to have surgery. ‌ But the singer said that despite her diagnosis, she still feels like she has found her 'happy ending'. Jessie and basketball player Chanan Colman welcomed their first child, son Sky, in May 2023. Talking about her song Sunflower, which is yet to be officially released, Jessie said: 'I wrote this song about my boy – the happiest boy in the world unless he hasn't had enough snacks. He is the love of my life, the joy of my day… I jump out of bed at 5am to make him something to eat and then wait for him to wake up. 'I never thought I would live this life… I prayed for it for so long. The joy it brings me is overwhelming. I hope anyone who has that same feeling in their heart gets their happy ending. It's magic.

Olly Murs asks 'shall I go?' as he's booed by crowd after on-stage admission

Olly Murs brought the house down at Liverpool's M&S Bank Arena this week with a performance that left fans both emotional and dancing along. At one point, however, the 40-year-old Essex-born star, currently on his 15 Years of Hits tour, had the crowd booing after he let his cheeky chappy side show while interacting with the audience at his sold-out gig. Midway through his energetic set, the former X Factor contestant stopped the show to reveal a Liverpool FC sign on the big screens, which inevitably sent his Evertonian fans into a frenzy. The chart-topping singer was in stitches during the segment where he gives his long-serving band a chance to embarrass him. The former Voice UK judge was quick to tell his Murs Army: 'At this part of the show, I have absolutely no idea what is about to appear on that screen.' To add to the frenzy of the booing crowd, he went on to add: 'This will probably get the biggest boo of the night. I am a Manchester United fan.' The star was cracking up at the louder boos from the audience and jeered, 'Shall I go?'. Thankfully for his paying fans, though, Olly stayed to perform more of his much-loved pop hits. Olly, who shot to fame after finishing runner-up on The X Factor in 2009, has been touring the UK to commemorate 15 years of his music. Wednesday's performance showcased hits from across his career, including Dance With Me Tonight, Dear Darlin' and Heart Skips a Beat, alongside a few of his new tunes. Olly had a major transformation ahead of his UK tour, wowing fans on Instagram as he shared a post showing off his new physique. His six-pack surprised his 4.8million followers as he shared that he is 'pumped and ready to get on the road'. The Voice star 'quits ITV series' after just one season

LeAnn Rimes has 'quit' The Voice UK after appearing as a coach for just one season. Last year the American singer, who began her music career when she was just a teenager and since going on to sell a staggering 48 million records worldwide, joined The Voice UK. Her casting came after the controversial axe of Olly Murs and Anne-Marie, the latter who said the decision was a 'shock' and left him 'gutted'. Soon after it was announced the coaches who remained – Sir Tom Jones and – would be joined by LeAnn and McFly's Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones. Last year's season was eventually won by the McFly boys' act Ava in October; however it's now been reported the line-up is getting a shake-up again after LeAnn, 42, quit. Instead, she now wants to 'focus on her career in the US and appear on the American version as mega mentor alongside Sheryl Crow'. 'LeAnn loved her time on the UK show, but wants to focus on her career in the States,' a source told The Sun. 'She was hugely popular with cast and crew, and everybody loved having her as part of the team.' 'Bosses are currently on the lookout for another female singer to join the all-star line-up, they haven't made a decision just yet but are having conversations.' They added: 'Producers know they've had some amazing names so far, from Olly Murs to Anne-Marie, so they want to secure someone who will cause a lot of excitement around the show and bring a new energy to the competition.' The source went on to reveal the show's 14th season would be filmed 'later this summer' and confirmed Danny would be back, a few months after the married musician came under fire for being snapped kissing fellow I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! star Maura Higgins. Speaking about deciding to sign up to the series, LeAnn previously told Metro that getting to act as a coach and mentor rather than judging aspiring artists was a major drawcard. 'I wouldn't have done it if it wasn't a kind show. You want to give people creative criticism – not shatter their hopes and dreams. I think a lot of people went too far back in the day,' she added, referencing the harsh criticisms dished out to musicians in past reality talent shows. Last year LeAnn also appeared as a coach on The Voice Australia, winning that season with her act Reuben De Melo. However soon after it aired, in September a TV insider said she was a 'one and done coach' and wouldn't be returning to the show. More Trending This was then confirmed in January when the coaching panel was announced, with LeAnn replaced by former Spice Girl Melanie C. This weekend LeAnn teased new projects with her fans, captioning an Instagram post: 'Thank you all for making April full of love, laughter and connection. May, I am SO ready for you and the exciting new journey I am about to embark on! Stay tuned…' Metro has contacted ITV and representatives for LeAnn Rimes for comment.
