Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Limited (SAVWIPL) has announced a fresh voluntary recall of 1,821 vehicles manufactured between December 1, 2021, and May 31, 2025, citing potential defects in the seatbelt latest round of recall affects 860 units of the Skoda Kushaq, Slavia, and Kylaq, along with 961 units of the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus. The latest recall is an extension of the seatbelt recall issued in April this year, and affects 1,821 units of the Skoda-Volkswagen made-in-India cars Check Offers Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Limited (SAVWIPL) has announced a second voluntary recall for its made-in-India cars related to faulty seatbelts. The automaker has issued a recall comprising 1,821 units of the Skoda Kylaq, Kushaq, and Slavia, as well as the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus, as per the data from the Society Of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). The automaker had previously issued a recall for 47,235 units in April this year. Voluntary Recall Due To Faulty Seatbelt Components Skoda Auto Volkswagen India states that the voluntary recall has been made due to a defect with the rear seatbelt assembly (left and right sides), which had the metal base frame crack on 860 units of the Skoda Kylaq, Kushaq, and Slavia, as well as 961 units of the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus. The automaker also said that an incorrect part was installed on the front and rear seatbelts of all the made-in-India cars. The affected cars were manufactured between December 1, 2021, and May 31, 2025. Rear seatbelt assembly (Left side / Right side)- Metal Base frame crack 2. Front/Rear seat belt incorrect part installed," SIAM said in its document. SAVWIPL will reach out to customers of the affected vehicles, as is the case with voluntary recalls, to replace the faulty components where necessary. Additionally, owners can log on to the Skoda and Volkswagen India recall websites and check if their vehicle is part of the recall using the car's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Incidentally, Volkswagen recently announced a recall in global markets for a different safety issue on vehicles such as the Polo, Passat, Taigo, ID 7, ID 7 Tourer and the ID Buzz. Notably, the recently launched full imports - Volkswagen Tiguan R Line and Golf GTI - remain unaffected by the recall in the automaker's stable. Skoda Sold Over 1800 Units Of Kushaq Every Month Since Launch
Skoda Auto India has registered the sales of 89,000 units of Kushaq since its launch on June 28, 2021. This means that on average, the brand sold 1,854 units of the compact SUV every month. As per the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the model accounts for almost 77 per cent of the total SUV sales of the Czech brand. Manufactured at the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India's facility located in Chakan, Pune, the Kushaq boasts a localisation rate of 95 percent. It marked the inaugural product under the brand's India 2.0 initiative, utilizing the MQB A0 IN, a variant of Volkswagen's MQB platform tailored for the Indian market, which also forms the foundation for the Skoda Slavia, Skoda Kylaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and Volkswagen Virtus. This was followed by an impressive 25,300 units sold in FY23, marking it as the year with the highest sales so far. In FY24, Skoda India recorded 23,396 units sold of the Kushaq in the country, and in FY25, 17,363 units were sold. In the first two months of FY26, Skoda India has managed to sell just 1,427 units. The Kushaq, alongside the Taigun, was among the first vehicles to receive a complete 5-star crash test rating from Global NCAP under its revised and more rigorous testing standards. The Kushaq is offered with a choice of either a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine or a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, which can be paired with a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic, or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Skoda's compact SUV is offered at prices ranging from Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 19.11 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It competes against models such as the Volkswagen Taigun, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Honda Elevate, and Tata Curvv.

Like the Taigun, the Skoda Kushaq received a five-star safety rating from the Global NCAP and it includes six airbags, an ESC, hill hold assist, and Multi-Collision brakes. The Kushaq SUV further features ventilated front seats, an eight-inch instrument cluster display, smartphone integration, and cruise control. 4 Tata Curvv: The Tata Curvv is positioned as a compact coupe-SUV and its range starts from ₹ 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The ICE-powered Curvv is built on the ATLAS architecture and gets the Nexon's 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which makes 119 bhp and 170 Nm of torque. The cabin is treated with ventilated leatherette seats and the rear occupants get incline functionality. Among safety features, the Tata Curvv includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, and an electronic stability program, among others. 5 Hyundai Creta: The Hyundai Creta is one of the most popular offerings within the compact SUV space, priced from ₹ 11.10 lakh (ex-showroom). Buyers can opt between three powertrain choices and among them, it is the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol unit that can be had with the 7-speed DCT. This unit makes 158 bhp and 253 Nm of torque and is limited to the SX(O) variants from ₹ 20.18 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. The Creta further includes six airbags, a 360-degree camera, ABS, and ESP.
