Kelly Khumalo claps back at Advocate Teffo over Senzo Meyiwa case - ‘Enough is enough'
The nation still remembers the shock and grief that followed the tragic death of Bafana Bafana captain and Orlando Pirates Football Club goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa. His relationship with singer Kelly Khumalo was widely known, but the circumstances surrounding his murder continue to haunt Mzansi. Over 10 years later, the case remains a mystery, with new revelations emerging, sparking both hope and scepticism. A question remains - will these latest claims be the breakthrough the case needs, or are they just another twist in a long road to justice? Read more | EXCLUSIVE | Senzo Meyiwa's killing was a contract hit, says investigator Kelly Khumalo responded to Advocate Malesela Teffo's claims that she accidentally shot her deceased ex-boyfriend, Senzo Meyiwa, during an attempted robbery at her home in Vosloorus, Gauteng, in 2014. On Thursday, July 17, 2025, Advocate Teffo was a guest on Podcast & Chill with MacG. There, he made allegations about singer Kelly Khumalo in connection with the Senzo Meyiwa case. According to Teffo, an eyewitness will testify that Kelly Khumalo pulled the trigger, resulting in Meyiwa's death. He further alleged that Longwe Twala—who was romantically involved with Kelly's sister, Zandile Khumalo —caused Senzo Meyiwa's death. Teffo claimed that Longwe brought a gun over to Kelly's place, where Kelly, Zandile, Senzo, and two of Senzo's friends were relaxing together following his unanswered calls by Zandile, which angered him, resulting in him suspecting that Senzo was trying to connect one of his friends with Zandile. Teffo further alleged that Longwe went over to Kelly's house carrying his father's unlicensed 38 revolver firearm to intimidate them, but amidst everything, the firearm ended up in Kelly's hands, resulting in her allegedly accidentally shooting Meyiwa in his chest. Kelly Khumalo took to her Instagram account to respond to the allegations. 'Enough is enough, it stops here, and it stops today. I am not going to be diplomatic about this; I'm not going to release press statements, I'm not going to waste my money hiring lawyers to speak on my behalf, udoti nje udoti (rubbish is rubbish). If you strongly believe that I am capable of what you're accusing me of, very simple; come and get me, it's that simple. 'I'm not above the law, but I think I'm at a point where I've had enough of you people dragging my name through the mud; it stops now. Your stupid humiliation ritual that you have been performing about me over the years, enough. If you feel that I'm the woman that you're coming after, simple, come and get me. Akekho umuntu engimesabayo (I'm not afraid of no one), till then; back off,' she said. ‘Enough is enough' — Kelly Khumalo reacts to claim she killed Senzo Meyiwa
Singer Kelly Khumalo says she's had enough of being linked to the murder of footballer Senzo Meyiwa. Senzo, who was Kelly's boyfriend, was killed in October 2014 at her family home in Vosloorus. Those in the house at the time of the murder were Kelly, her sister Zandie, her mother Ntombi, her son Christian and three of Senzo's friends. In the latest episode of Podcast and Chill, disbarred attorney Malesela Teffo claimed Kelly killed Senzo unintentionally when trying to hand him a gun. Malesela also brought forth a supposed warrant of arrest for Kelly. Responding to his claim, Kelly shared a video saying Malesela's claims were part of a humiliation ritual he started in the courtroom and said he was also going on 'sketchy' podcasts. 'Enough is enough. It stops here and it stops today. I'm not going to be diplomatic about this. I'm not going to release press statements, I'm not going to waste my money hiring lawyers to speak on my behalf,' she said. 'If you strongly believe I am capable of what you are accusing me of, very simple, come and get me. I'm not above the law. I'm at a point where I have had enough of people dragging my name through the mud. It stops now. The stupid humiliation rituals you have been performing using me over the years, enough. If you feel I am the woman you are coming after, come and get me. I fear no man. Until then back off.' Watch the video below:

Senzo Meyiwa trial focuses on alleged intruder's gold tooth
The lead investigator in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, Brig Bongani Gininda, has told the Pretoria high court that no medical records could be found confirming whether one of the accused, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, had a gold tooth. Gininda testified that he had made attempts during the investigation to access Mncube's medical records from the correctional facility to establish whether he had a gold tooth when he was admitted. However, the records were never located. He said that it came to his attention that gold teeth are not always surgically fitted and can also be worn as removable grills. This is after a picture depicting Mncube was beamed in court and Gininda described that in the picture Mncube appears to be smiling with a shiny object on his upper teeth resembling gold. Some of the occupants in the house had said one of the intruders in the Vosloorus home when Meyiwa was murdered had a gold tooth. Meyiwa was with his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo at her mother's house in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, and they were relaxing over lunch and watching a soccer match with Kelly's sister Zandile, Zandile's then-boyfriend Twala, and two of Meyiwa's friends who were visiting from KwaZulu-Natal. The occupants of the house told police that two robbers entered, demanding cash and cellphones, before Meyiwa was shot in a scuffle with one of the intruders. Mncube, Bongani Ntanzi, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Fisokuhle Ntuli are on trial for Meyiwa's murder in October 2014. They face charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition. On Thursday, Gininda also told the court that Twala was not a person of interest in the murder of the soccer star. This as advocate Charles Mnisi, representing Sibiya and Mncube, asked about the picture of bag of money found on Mncube, Twala and Kelly Khumalo's phones. He had testified that a similar picture depicting a bag of money was found on their phones. 'You cannot focus on a person as a person of interest solely because of one bag or one piece of evidence. When it comes to Miss Kelly Khumalo, and I've testified about this, there are number of things that came up that seem to point to her as being the trigger point, and that is why I then said she was then viewed, in so far as the investigation is concerned, as a person of interest and subsequent application for the J50.' Gininda previously testified that it had come up that Twala might have been the shooter, but he had to look at certain facts in the docket that led him to his conclusion that there were intruders. Thulani Khumalo is alive, despite claims a Somali syndicate killed him
Thulani Khumalo is a South African entrepreneur who operates a spaza shop from his home in Vosloorus. (Facebook) Thulani Khumalo is a South African entrepreneur who operates a spaza shop from his home in Vosloorus. On 3 May last year, Khumalo took to both social and news media to share that his life was in danger, accusing foreign spaza shop owners of attempting to kill him. Around the time of his outcry, accounts known for perpetrating an anti-immigrant narrative online twisted his outcry to proclaim him dead, alleging that he was killed by 'a syndicate of Somalians'. However, as our investigators found, Khumalo is alive, well and 'shocked' at the news of his death, despite doing nothing to dispel the rumours. When Thulani Khumalo took to social media to share how threats were being made on his life, allegedly by foreign spaza shop owners who saw his business as competition, he never imagined that his story would be manipulated to make it seem like he had been killed by 'Somali syndicates' — at least that is what he says. In early May last year, Khumalo shared a message on Facebook, stating that he was being 'hunted down' by a man hired to kill him, all because he tried to be a South African spaza shop owner. Prior to this, Khumalo had posted about how he was trying to Khumalo's message drew widespread support from government officials and the broader public. Political parties, he said, offered him 'protection in terms of security, telling me they would tell the police to patrol this area regularly'. 'They also offered me funding, for example, the MK party, but this never materialised; it was only for that day. Political parties that visited were the ActionSA and the ANC from Ekurhuleni.' The message became popular on X, with some accounts alleging that Khumalo had been killed. Among these are the @Isephara and @joy_zelda accounts, which both stated at different times of the year that Khumalo had been killed by a 'syndicate of Somalians', once on 3 May, about an hour after he claimed that he was being hunted down, and another in August. Both these X accounts regularly post content with anti-foreigner sentiment. Between May and August, Khumalo was interviewed by The X post from the @ISephara account, Khumalo's initial Facebook post and the claim made in August 2024 by @joy_zelda can all be seen here: Speaking to investigative journalist Tabelo Timse, Khumalo alleges that the threats began around March and April last year. This is noteworthy because in March, he posted a picture of himself in what appears to be his spaza shop, including the words ' 'It started when I saw foreign shop owners casually walking up and down the street daily. Some will approach me to ask how much I am willing to sell this shop [for] or how much rent I want. When I refused [to sell or rent], I noticed people hiding down the street at the second school gate,' he said. Khumalo's shop is run out of his garage in a residential area. Hence, in order to verify the threats that he alleges, it would be important to understand the general foot traffic on that street. He added, 'This one time, I saw three guys hiding. Later, I noticed they were walking up the street, so I went inside the house. These three guys robbed someone who looked similar to me — I think I was the target. So, during the robbery, one robber was shot in the foot and he is the one who said they were looking for me. I don't know what happened to that guy.' However, relaying a similar incident to the City Press in June 2024, he claimed that it was his friend who was mistaken for him and shot in the leg. Khumalo says he went to the police but was told to provide proof of the threats before a case could be opened. He never appears to have provided such proof. Khumalo says he had no idea that the threats on Facebook would go viral, despite stating, 'Vosloorus, please make this trend …' He added that he had to deactivate his social media accounts when allegations of his death surfaced. 'I, and those close to me, including my family, never posted anything about my death. We were all shocked when we saw this account posting and my younger brother replied to those posts that I was alive and that this was fake news. But this person just went on and on about my death, even asking for donations,' he said. Khumalo still uses the same Facebook account from which he claimed that he was being hunted down and he has not taken the initiative to clarify the false narrative about his death. He says he sees 'no need' to clarify that he is alive because people can see that he is active on social media. 'This fake news about my death is also putting my life in danger because I am now exposed.' In a country where anti-immigrant sentiment is rife and xenophobic attacks continue to be perpetrated, it is important to clarify when misinformation is being generated and spread, even if the clarification favours a perceived 'enemy'. Khumalo has not been killed by so-called Somalian syndicates. Just as he feared for his safety, he also compromised the safety of competing entrepreneurs, who may have had nothing to do with the threats or his 'death'. Khumalo has missed multiple opportunities to come clean and dispel the rumours about his death — the first when he was interviewed by news media a month after his viral post, and the second which presents itself every time he logs in and posts on his account. Despite not explicitly setting the record straight, criminality against Khumalo cannot be condoned, and we hope that he finds proof to take legal action against those allegedly making threats against his life and business.
