4 dead, 5 injured after fire breaks out on oil tanker docked in Batam shipyard
Four people have died after an oil tanker caught fire on June 24 while docked at a shipyard in Batam.
Indonesian media outlet Detik reported that the tanker was undergoing repairs at the PT ASL Shipyard Indonesia when the fire broke out.
Five people were also reported to be injured and are undergoing treatment.
'Four survivors suffered serious burns and one suffered minor injuries,' Batu Aji police chief Raden Bimo Dwi Lambang was quoted as saying by Detik on June 25.
He added that the cause of the fire is being investigated.
State news agency Antara reported that the fire, which broke out on the Federal II at around 2.15pm local time (3.15pm Singapore time) on June 24, has been extinguished.
