Police investigating reported assault in Dayton
Police are investigating reports of an assault in Dayton Saturday morning, a Montgomery County dispatch supervisor confirmed. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Dayton police and medics were called to the 3500 block of W Third Street around 9:30 a.m. The dispatch supervisor said they received several other calls reporting at least one assault near this address, but it is unclear if they are connected. Vietnam veteran gets new home in Vandalia, thanks to Habitat for Humanity
A Vietnam veteran and his family now have a home with enough space thanks to Habitat for Humanity. The home dedication ceremony happened Friday in Vandalia, and Len Pringle got the keys to his new home. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] 'So this grandiose dream of mine, hey, let's go to Dayton, Ohio,' Pringle said. Len and his family's dream of living in a spacious home has come true. 'We all are going to do positive things for this community. I thank the City of Vandalia and Habitat for Humanity, all those beautiful faces,' Pringle said. Pringle says he wants people to know that some veterans struggle, and they want to become homeowners too. 'Veterans need help. Vets are on the streets, they need housing. We need to do something. She was last seen by her family in December, according to a social media post. She is 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs 178 pounds. Nicole has brown eyes and hair. She is also tattooed on her arms and chest, the department said. Possible witnesses told Kettering Police that Nicole may have been seen as recently as April. The department posted photos on its Facebook page. Man arrested after setting racoon loose in business
A man was arrested after releasing a racoon into an open business in Murray, Kentucky. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] The man, 40-year-old Jonathan Mason, was charged with assault, criminal trespassing, resisting arrest and failure of owner to maintain required insurance. Officers found Mason while he was driving and initiated a traffic stop. Police say Mason refused to roll down his windows or exit his vehicle, so officers removed him from the vehicle. Police learned that Mason had been previously warned that he was not allowed in that business. They also learned that the racoon had bit a person. Mason is being held in the Calloway County Jail. Arrest made in connection to shooting that killed Dayton teen
Dayton police have made an arrest in connection to a deadly shooting that happened on W Grand Avenue in May. On May 29th, around 10 a.m., 911 callers reported gunshots, people running, and an SUV left behind with a possible victim. A standoff between Columbus police and a suspect who was wanted in connection to this Dayton homicide happened two days ago. Thursday, News Center 7 tracked down Dayton arrest records after learning police had detained a homicide suspect after the Columbus stand off. Police records now show an arrest made 11:29 p.m. Tuesday night in connection to the W Grand Avenue homicide, but the person's name was redacted. Montgomery County Jail records show 20-year-old Danny Gladden Junior was booked into jail at 11:29 p.m. Tuesday on suspicion of murder. News Center 7 will continue to follow this story.
